This Autozone is near my house, so I've bought quite a few odds and ends there over the years with no particular complaints, but then again nothing that makes this place stand out from all the other parts outlets. A minor annoyance is that if there are three people behind the counter it seems like at least two of them are always on the phone. I seem to always end up waiting in line too long.
Today's experience, though, was enough to take the West Avenue Autozone off my list of go-to shops. I was at work many miles away, and my wife was left to deal with a dying battery by herself - in subfreezing weather. The sign in the window says free battery testing and installation...they tested it sure enough, but when it came to her asking for installation, she was told that for this particular vehicle (2011 Kia Soul) battery replacement is "too time consuming" and they wouldn't/couldn't do it. I guess that sign in the window has some secret caveats that you don't learn about until it becomes critical.
But hey, blessing in disguise. She went to Midas and got the same battery for less $, and had it installed within 20 minutes. Thanks, Autozone. Probably won't be seeing you again. read more
