I went online to look for a specific product. The site said I could find it here. I called to make sure they had it. The person confirmed but made it sound like it would be difficult to get. I arrived about 10 minutes later. I was shocked at the cold vibe here. I've shopped at other stores in the stripmall and they all were pretty much positive or at least neutral. It was weird. There was no greeting. I looked for and found my product. The cashier was curt. The security guard was polite upon exit. It was $1 cheaper to get it here than online. I do not recall the last time I stepped into an Autozone. I needed to buy new windshield wipers, and figure out what's the light that just popped up on my dashboard. The 2 female associates were so nice to help me look up what size wipers that I needed to buy for my car. They were also able to find out what's wrong with my car when I showed them the light on my dashboard. There were only 1-2 customers in the store. Came in for 2 air filters for my 2012 Honda Accord EXL. Service was prompt and efficient. I forgot the model of my Honda and the guy asked for my registration. I got it and he had to search for the filters; came back and apologized for the wait. I wasn't worried as I saved over $25 versus getting them done at the place I had just gotten my oil changed at. Went in today as a brake light was out in one of my cars. This is close to home so I went here. Been to this location a few times before for wipers and washer fluid before a Tahoe trip and for some other things - a battery a few months ago I can remember vividly. Again, went here to get my car started again as its the closest place. On my trip in today I quickly found the book to figure out the light bulb # that I needed. So happy they had it tied down and that it was easy to find. All the bulbs were in their place and it seemed to be well stocked. Two people were working the registers and one security guard was inside by the door - dont try to steal anything here :) The two people at the registers were working very hard. The phones were ringing off the hooks and the people kept coming in. Standard store, happy to have them in the neighborhood but they do need more help in there. read more

Top quality service experience. My battery died and AAA advised me to get it tested after I drove the car for a bit. I came into this location and they were extremely friendly and helpful in providing a battery test. After my battery came up 'bad' (my only complaint is that the battery test yields categorical outcomes that have no details, good/bad)-- the service reps helped me select the right battery for me, and they installed it on the spot. Went in to get oil and thought id switch to LED bulbs cause i hate when i bulb goes out by surprise. Got helped to some bulbs. Tried putting them in a week later and it turns out they are for a parallel model of Prius. Put the car back together and drive down to exchange them and it turns out they dont have the correct type. The customer service people take a while figuring it out but are nice and helpful. The manager comes out and does the same stuff they did even though they had the right page already up. Then when he realizes he has to refund me starts getting snippy. I have my card and id out but he demands my phone number. I say I dont like to give that out. He repeats give me your number. I am like wtf did you not hear me? Then he threatens me with store credit if I dont give the number. I try to deescalate things by apologizing and saying it is just the way I am and get things calm enough to ask if they are making me an account which is what i do not want. He says no so I give my phone number and he goes ahead and decides to give me store credit anyways in retaliation. I considered that i had wasted enough time with someones inflated sense of ego to fight it. Instead I am warning you all which is a much better use of my time then small claims court. Seems I had interrupted him watching a game or something. I got no apology for them selling me the wrong product. Had to spend 15 minutes finding out they didnt check if they had the right product the first time since they only had one kind anyways and wanted to sell it. Got threatened for my phone number and then retaliated against for obsequiously attempting to refuse. Someone should look into what that manager is doing in the back cause whatever it is they consider it important enough to threaten and retaliate over getting drawn away from it. I thought this act of kindness was so sweet. So my 2016 Honda Civic started losing battery power off and on starting yesterday. I had Happen to go to the Fed ex In the same shopping center and as I was leaving My car would not start! So I did what I had to do and got my portable car charger out of my trunk and hooked it up and try to jump my own car for the third time now. This was not working so I went across to AutoZone to see what they could do. To my surprise I believe her name is Sandra. Sandra lent me her portable charger and I was able to start my car again with no trouble! Sandra treated me like a friend and let me borrow her property so I could keep it moving. I spoke to Stacy who ASSURED me that the order was placed and that the part would be in no later than Friday. When I called today the lady I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and kept putting me on hold. After calling back several times and getting hung up on, a guy finally picked up the phone. Earlier today I had one of my friends share with me his very recent experience visiting this store that just appalled me to such a degree that I felt compelled to share it here as a review on Yelp as a forewarning to others who may want to do business here. Other reviewers seem to share in their horrendous experiences at this particular store, but my friend's experience was particularly malicious... My friend, a very kind and gracious guy in his mid-20s, came to this Autozone to find a simple light bulb replacement. When he politely asked to use the restroom, he was asked to wait (no problem, of course), but was then personally escorted back to the restroom, told that he was being "inconvenient" for asking to do so, and then in a firm and accusatory manner instructed "[not to] steal anything" because he'd "be on camera." Did I mention my friend is African American? Well, that's because while I assert it's statistically possible this particular employee is just an all-around asshole, the comments seemed way too aligned with the typical and always-absurd accusations from your modern day racist to be your average "I hate my job" employee. And as I said previously, several other reviewers seem have experiences with certain employees here which would support this. But honestly, I don't care if you're having a bad day, or if you hate your job, but I do care if you live out your racist fantasies in harassing others. Never will I shop here and never have I given a 1-star review on Yelp, but this places deserves it. read more

I got my oil changed recently and the place I went to tried to sell me an air filter for $20. I figured it MUST be cheaper to buy one and change it out on my own. Besides...I pride myself in being able to do guy stuff. I don't need a man to change a tire, start a fire, understand football or find things at Home Depot! Entering Auto Zone I walked over to the Air/Oil Filter aisle and tried to use their inventory machine. It was broken so I was forced to ask one of the workers. Derrek jumped onto his computer and found the filter for me. I wasn't sure it was the right one since the picture didn't look like my old filter. Derrek said "Ok...lets go see if it fits!" With a screwdriver in his pocket (NOT a euphemism) we popped my hood (ALSO not a euphemism) and he ended up changing my air filter right there in the parking lot! My new air filter was $16!! I'm 72 and wanted service. My windshield wiper shredded during the heavy rains.. They had two guys working the counter. A third was mopping the floor. They didn't have the highest quality in stock, but they had second best, that would work. The counter salesman was honest over the phone saying he didn't know if the the two sizes they had would work. I'd have to bring the car down to see. I hit it right, I was out of there within 10 minutes, late morning MLK Day. The installation is fine. I recommend anyone to go to Autozone. Be courteous to them as they try to communicate to you. Extend a "no worries" if you think they are having a hard day. Aloha. Help your brothers [sisters] have a good day. Small businesses are having a hard time, 3rd year pandemic. We needed a car battery for our 2008 Toyota Scion XD and after a frustrating runaround from the Millbrae location, we spoke with Robert E. at the Oakland location- who promised to hold the battery for us and that he, himself, would install it! Well, I have to say, I was VERY happy that not only did he remember our call when we got there, (he held the battery under our name, as promised!), but he also quickly exchanged and installed the new car battery! The guys here are extremely helpful. I called them last Sunday after my car's windshield wipers stopped working during the middle of a torrential rainstorm. The worker, Eugene, stayed on the phone with me for 15 minutes helping me diagnose the problem to the wiper motor and then determining the exact part that I would need along with tools and instructions. After a very slow trip to the store, I found the part I needed waiting for me along with the exact tools that would be required for the job. It took longer than I hoped to repair it myself so I eventually got help, but these guys went above and beyond in getting me through this bit of car trouble. read more

The guy showed me the options and didn't recommend the most expensive (as other placed would normally do). Picked the ones I wanted, paid, and was on my way. Just as I was leaving the store thinking how the heck am I going to replace the old ones with the new ones, a super friendly young lady that works there (wish I knew her name) asked me if I would need help to replace my wipers? I said, yes please!!! She walks out with me, changes my wipers while showing me how to do it, and in seconds she's done! It would've taken me much longer and I probably wouldn't even had done it right. She was super nice and attentive and went above and beyond her job to help me out. I haven't left a 1-star review for anyone yet, and I haven't been to this AutoZone location in years, but my one and only experience at this place in November 2006 was so unpleasant and beyond what I usually consider to be bad customer service that I just have to put this out there. I was in Reno for a weekend when a snowstorm was about to hit, so before I left town I stopped by an AutoZone to get some snowchains. When I reached Donner's Pass, the snow got thick so I put on the chains. Same measurement numbers as what's written on my truck's tires, but for the weirdest reason the chains were too small! I'm guessing the chains were mis-tagged, so I bought another set of chains from a local gas station and made my way home. I went to this AutoZone to return the chains since I never got to use them and since they were probably mis-tagged with the wrong measurements. The manager came out and said he wouldn't accept the return because "it's typical that kids like you would buy chains in Tahoe and return them after they get home." What?! I explained that the chains were never used even once, but he said the chains "look pretty worned." They were not. These chains seem to have a rugged design, I guess for better traction. He brought out another set of chains to compare, and his chains looked so much nicer and polished - because they were from a different manufacturer. "See? You are clearly a liar," the manager said, within earshot of several other customers standing nearby. I kept saying that these were different manufacturers and it wasn't a fair comparison, and his nicer one even had a higher price tag, but he insisted that "they all make them the same way." I then played my last card, "How about you come out with me to my truck in the parking lot, check the measurements, and see that the chains won't fit?" I thought it was a very reasonable request, and it'd certainly vindicate my claim. Instead, the manager said, "Look, you're just trying to scam us by returning a used product. I deal with kids who do this all the time. They go to Tahoe unprepared, buy the chains when there's snow, and then return them after one trip. Now you're just trying to waste my time by walking me out to the parking lot and put on the chains. You're just trying to be difficult. I'm busy, so please leave the store." I was really furious that the manager was assaulting my integrity without any proof, and he was being incredibly condescending about it. The whole thing was very offensive and it permanently left a bad association with AutoZone in my mind. Even if the manager was right (and he wasn't), a smart manager should've understood the concept of Customer Lifetime Value here. I'm a truck guy with a 10-year-old pickup. I could've plunked down hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars in maintenance and repair costs during my entire lifetime, money that could've gone directly to AutoZone, but all that vanished in one single unpleasant interaction where the manager refused a $30 return. And not like he saved the company any money by doing that - another AutoZone in Oakland (3525 Macarthur Blvd) accepted my return half hour later without any hassle. Good job, Mr. Idiot Manager Guy. You fail at your job, just like I'm sure you fail at life. read more

I always get great helpful service when I'm finally able to talk talk to someone. But, the thing that really bugs me about Auto Zone is their prices. They're pretty expensive in comparison with O Reilly's or Home Depot. Today, I was shopping for clear coat, Bondo, and sand paper and found Auto Zone's prices to be between 25 and 50 percent more expensive than Home Depot. The sand paper was a couple dollars more expensive than Home Depot and the Bondo was a good 10 dollars more expensive. The clear coat wasn't labeled clear coat. They had generic Rust-Oleum products and they were quite a bit more expensive as well. For the most part, I stay away from Auto Zone cuz I know I'll just end up finding a lower price somewhere else. Mainly they're just good for getting automotive advice and sometimes for getting parts. But, O Reilly's is cheaper, so I shop there instead. read more

Meh, I've experienced better! I will still go here for the simple fact its close to my house and its a rather smash and grab session, aka run in grab some wax, pay, and leave. They carry most of the simple stuff, belts, plugs, and so forth. However they dont carry most of those items for my car; mostly your dime a dozen cars like honda, ford, and so forth. Another big gripe I have about this location is the attitude in there. I've gone in several times and the workers are usually grumpy, pissed off, or fighting with each other over simple things. Naturally this does not go for ALL the works. I have seen a few really nice people working there. But the majority of the time, just seem like there is some animosity in the air with the workers.
