Went in to buy a set of spark plugs. A 2001 truck with 200,000 miles on it. Salesperson argued with me that a $2.29 spark plug will not work properly. Wanting to sell the $8.00 and up iridium plugs. I told him I didn't want the high grade type. Not worth the money. I'm not buying them for my high performance sports car. It's for a high mileage truck. Yes, the iridium high cost plugs are nice. But what he refused to understand is: 1- it's not a high performance application. 2- high mileage engine, the only thing left would be the iridium plugs. They would last longer than the entire truck will. 3- not every customer is so stupid, gullible, and rich enough to spend that kind of money for something that does not need it. He let me walk out knowing that I will just go to the next parts store. He would not sell the cheaper plugs to me (yes. They were in stock) actually refused to do so saying they would not work well enough. (My point was ignored, the basic plugs are what GM put in it at the factory. Now all of a sudden the factory basic plugs are not going to work 'well' enough. Let the sale walk out the door. What it is I suspect he's paid on commission, so therefore the low cost stuff isn't worth enough effort to put into the sale. I weep for the future.
