I owned a Chevrolet Silverado and she insisted we needed a Mini-Van--She was right! Thankfully, she did stipulate that when the kids are grown I could buy another truck. Fast forward two and a half decades later, and I cashed in on that promise--in a big way. My search began on the internet and going to several car dealers. My last stop was Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet. Honestly, it should have been my first. I was greeted by Matthew Rodriguez, my new salesman. He was kind, he listened and was professional. My son and I drove a truck to get the lay of the land. I decided on a loaded Crew Cab 4X4--A great improvement over the over the original V-6 with a Standard Cab. I mentioned I had to sell my Honda Odyssey and I'd be back. He concurred and gave no push back. The next morning I listed the Odyssey on the Facebook Market Place, and sold it in three hours. After the sale, Matthew listened again to our needs, wants and desires (my bride came on the second trip), looked up inventory online and brought the truck around that met every desire. After a quick test drive we were thrilled with the truck and began the negotiations. GM having 20% off was a great place to start. After three offers back and forth they hit my sweet spot--and we pulled the trigger. I was amazed by their integrity, there were no hidden charges, undue pressure, clever talk or anything else that raised a red flag. Ultimately, these are decent folks that gave us an upfront deal with no tricks. I was impressed by them, and will use them again. Kevin Whitaker's Chevrolet should be on your radar. They're Five Star good. So, go get yourself that vehicle you've always wanted-I did!

I got there, and they were doing well until I made up my mind which one I wanted and asked to take a test drive. They began the drama. First, they don't allow test drives on Corvettes, so I told them I wasn't paying much for a car I couldn't fully drive, even with full insurance. They went to talk to "Steve" (the used-car manager), and I was leaving as I came out of the bathroom, headed for the exit. The salesman (who had done a great job in this situation as he could) came to me and said Steve said I could drive it, but first I had to be approved for the loan. I told him I was buying the car outright and didn't need the loan; I had cash but wasn't interested. As I was getting in my truck, Jeff (sales manager) came to the parking lot and said we could drive the car. Roller coaster of rules. Funny how the whole thing changed when I no longer needed their loan. By then, I was over it, and my wife said she had never felt so disrespected in her life. I called a friend of mine, and he said they had done the same thing to his buddy. His buddy fell for it, and the car immediately clunked. Three days later, the torque tube had to be replaced. The car I picked out I wanted badly and was going to buy it, but I am pleased I walked away. I had driven 4 others the same day, with not a second's hesitation from the dealership. Just don't fall for their tricks.

I brought my car in because it was overheating and was quoted nearly $1,400 to replace a PCM wire, replace the thermostat, and perform a coolant flush. When I asked basic questions about why these repairs were necessary, I was met with arrogance and attitude instead of answers. No one could clearly explain what was supposedly wrong with my vehicle. My dad called on my behalf to ask additional questions, and they treated him just as poorly. Rude, dismissive, and unwilling to explain their diagnosis or pricing. At that point, it felt less like they were trying to help and more like they were hoping I would blindly agree to an expensive repair bill. When I called back and told them I wanted to take my car elsewhere for a second opinion, they were extremely rude I was even considering a second opinion, told me to come get my car now, and hung up on me. That's all I needed to know. Picking up my car was no better. There was around a $100 diagnostic/service fee, I understand paying for someone's time and had no issue to pay it. The issue is while I was paying it I was never truly acknowledged, I felt very uncomfortable and could tell they were upset I was picking my car up. I then took my car to a dealership for a second opinion. They were shocked by both the diagnosis and the quote I had been given. The actual problem? A single pipe with a hole in it that needed to be replaced for around $600. No thermostat or PCM replacement. No unnecessary work. The dealership was so surprised by what I had been told. I genuinely believe this shop tried to take advantage of me and pressure me into paying for repairs my car did not need. If you aren't knowledgeable about cars, be extremely careful. Ask questions, get a second opinion, and don't let anyone bully you into approving expensive repairs. I will never return and would never recommend this place to anyone.
