A decade ago, Truckin Thunder quoted me $1.5k to install step-ups on my Sprinter Passenger van. I…read morewent home and bought a set on Amazon for $200 and installed them myself. My mistake was not splurging the extra $300 for a step that ran the whole length of the passenger side, rather than just two small steps for the driver and front passenger. Fast forward to earlier this year and my wife wants a step for the rear passengers so her elderly parents can get in and out more comfortably. She asked around and other Sprinter owners in the area told her that Truckin Thunder was the place to go. I'm busier these days so I figured it was worth the labor cost to have someone else take care of it. Learn from my sad tale of woe and incompetence, reader -- it was not. We picked up the van today and the long step on the passenger side is visibly crooked -- not on one axis either, but two! And not only that, but the step is so far under the body of the van that you can barely get your toes on it. It doesn't function as a step! After examining it, my wife called Truckin Thunder and explained that they had installed it incorrectly. Without even waiting for an explanation, the rude manager cut her off and said, "No we didn't." She said that it was a worse step than what it was replacing and could she have the old one back -- no. She told him that he sold her a step that couldn't be stepped on, that failed to meet the requirements that he gave her, and she wanted to return it -- no returns, she was told. I'll never go here again, that's for sure.

When you are looking for a service such as a wired trailer hitch, you may find a cheaper product…read morebut you get what you pay for. Today I purchased my 3rd hitch since 2008. Yes, I may trade SUV's too often but I like to have them equipped with a hitch. I got a quote from John who is very personable and a true sales guy. Maybe not always exact with his part numbers and quotes. I had an appointment today and when I showed up they were ready for me. After consulting with Vince, his more experienced partner, it was determined the wiring harness quote was off by $175.00. This purchase is a cost/benefit equation so I had to make a decision. After considering all the options, I decided to go ahead with it. Utijlmatey it was $91.00 more. Vince stepped in and helped with the labor of taking apart the rear interior to get the job done. Wiring a German made SUV isn't always an exact science. The Audi dealership quoted $1,200.00, I would never pay that but it was a point of reference. I felt confidant that I was getting quality work here and they would stand behind it. I was a bit bothered they were off the original estimate. It was just that...an estimate so...all is well that ends well.

I've been here a few times over the years for basic services, such as oil changes, inspections,…read moreeven bought a tire. All those services went well and customer service was decent. I'll continue to return for those types of services. Anything more major, I use a trust, local mechanic for.

Customer Service has gone downhill for the Goodyear FXBG Location off McWhirt Loop…read more I personally spoke with the new store Manager, JOEL, for a quote on spark plug replacement + oil change. The price point he gave me was approx $325. There is no denying this since 1) I wrote it down and 2) all calls are recorded on my cellphone which I can add an audio clip HTML link to this review for anyone who wants to hear it. I would never make something like that up. When I arrived to Goodyear this morning at 8AM for my appointment - after driving 65mi from Richmond at 7AM in the morning- I was shocked to discover the quote had skyrocketed by $150 dollars with no viable explanation. I immediately advised the store clerk assisting me, ROBERT, that this was unacceptable. I told him that I've been a loyal customer for years and l felt annoyed that I had blindly placed my trust in JOEL just to be bait & switched. ROBERT snarkily responded, "Well I certainly don't want you to feel taken advantage of so you can take your business to another shop and I can delete this ticket". I found his comment incredibly rude and disrespectful. Not one single "I'm sorry", empathetic statement, nor attempt at mediation. Not to mention JOEL, the store Manager who caused the entire ordeal, made sure to hide in the back office room while all of this transpired. He couldn't even look me in the eye nor bother to step in while ROBERT and I exchanged heated remarks. ROBERT lastly stated that "the new owner of the McWhirt Loop Goodyear has removed all COUPONS, DISCOUNTS, and REBATE options so I was stuck with the bill". At that point, I called my good friend Nadia at one of Goodyears competitors and explained the situation to her. She immediately put me on the schedule to have my car fixed at HALF the price JOEL initially quoted me along with a complimentary induction cleaning. So just to make sure we're on the same page: Short-Term Optics: I wasted gas, time, and energy to arrive promptly to an appointment where I was mistreated, dismissed, and embarrassed by JOEL & ROBERT. Which obviously doesn't feel good and has left a sour taste in my mouth. Long-Term Optics: not only has this Goodyear location lost MY business for the time being, they have also lost the business of my two (2) close friends who I've referred to them as well as my Brother, Mother, and Partner's business as long as JOEL remains the store Manager. I also happen to work at the GEICO Corporate Office up the street. And I'll be making a point to advise my coworkers and post multiple flyers throughout the 5 story building warning people AGAINST doing business with this location to deter as much foot traffic as I possibly can over the course of the next few months.
