Pep Boys Review --…read more got a call 3 days ago...my rental was apparently begging for an oil change...mind you i'm in the army & my schedule is tighter than the jeans i wore in high school. so the next day i call back to set it up & guess what...no one answers. cool. love that. so i call the rental company & they're like "yeah girl take it to pep boys they'll help you" (lie number one) so i call pep boys & schedule for 11am. the next day i pull up 15 minutes early like the responsible adult i pretend to be. i hand over my keys & the guy hits me with "it'll be an hour & a half to two hours" ...for an oil change...i've never had an oil change take longer than a tiktok recipe but okay fine. i tell him i'm gonna run to the store for groceries & he's like yeah go ahead so i take my time. i stroll. i browse. i compare cereal brands like i'm solving a mystery. i take a whole hour & 45 mins thinking surely my truck is done by now i pull back up to pep boys & my truck is still sitting in the exact same parking spot...untouched...collecting dust...probably wondering if i abandoned it. i walk inside & the guy looks at me all casual like "okay i just got it approved so i wasn't able to start working on it yet" ...approved for WHAT...why did it take 2 hours...did the president need to sign off on this oil change i just stare at him then stare at my friend then stare back at him like i'm in the office waiting for the camera zoom. then he goes "it'll be about another hour" ...another hour...so now we're at a 3 hour oil change. 3. hours. and then while i'm standing there contemplating my life choices i hear another customer complaining about how slow they are. so at that point i knew it wasn't personal...it was just pep boys being pep boys 1 star. if i could give it 0 i would.

Service dept scams at their finest. Took my car in for a recall and system update as my remote…read moreconnect - a paid service - was not working on my 2020 RAV4. The lady took my phone and tried to figure out if there was anything wrong with my phone as to why the remote connect was not working. I told her it needed a system update on my car - that's exactly what the customer service with remote connect told me. Later I get a call saying they think they know why it's not working and they need to do a 1hr diagnostic. To which I agreed thinking it was something other than the update that I originally asked for. When they call me to let me know it's done, I go in to get my car and they tell me it's a $200 bill. For what? The lady comes out and says it's for the labor for diagnostic. But then she said that it needed a system update and it cleared everything that was wrong. Well didn't I come in specifically for an update? Like what the hell are you talking about? So they made me pay for one hour of "labor" for them to essentially do what I told them needed to be done. A one hour diagnosis was completely unnecessary. 1) She didn't tell me there was going to be a charge and 2) why wouldn't you do the update first because that's what I went in for? And then if it didn't work run the diagnostic. Scammers.

I had my pitbull with me, and no one would rent me a car--or even let me inside--because of my dog. I had to tow my own car using a U-Haul just to make it to Yuma, and Hyundai (right next door) couldn't help either due to distance policies. Kara was the only person who stepped up. She worked with Hyundai while they called around trying to help me, and when nothing else worked, Kara went above and beyond anything I've ever experienced in customer service. I didn't even know how I was going to return the U-Haul and get back before she got off work--so Kara stayed late, came and picked me and my dog up herself from the U-Haul location. My phone was dying, it was getting dark, and I was terrified. She made sure I wasn't alone. She got me into a 2025 minivan (the only thing available) just to make sure I was safe and able to get home. She walked me through roadside assistance, checked on my safety, and genuinely cared that I made it back to Tucson okay. I cried. I hugged her. And I will never forget her kindness. Kara is a truly beautiful, compassionate human being. She treated me like a person--not a problem. She is an angel, and I don't say that lightly. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her that day. Thank you so much, Kara, for everything you did--for the things I can put into words and the things I can't. I simply wanted my oil changed. Well he assured me they could handle that. So i waited in thier new cozy building they just built and before i knew it(after a couple commercials on tv) My truck was ready and washed! I wasnt expecting that . he complimented me on keeping up with my truck maintenance. ha ha ha I knew it. I love my truck. But all in all. I had a great time there with Hector and he made me feel good. Ill definately take it back when i need my next oil change..
