Went to AutoZone to get new windshield wipers for my Subaru Foerster and was assisted by a very pleasant young man named Brian. He asked if I wanted high-end or cheaper wipers and of course I wanted the best and I asked if there was anyone there who could put them on for me. Without hesitation Brian said he could definitely do that and followed me to my car and, with some difficulty due to the new lock-in mechanism, installed the new wipers. If i could give an extra star i would, i walked in to store to pick up a few things i guess i showed up at peak time. 5 people ahead of me and business was short handed by staff. In comes another employee i believe her name was Anna if im not mistaken (i looked at her name tag) i asked a vehicle related question and where i could find some items. She was great i did not know she was still not back on duty, directed me to where i needed to go made her reccomendations. Just one of the best customer service i have recieved in a very long time. Yesterday, I visited this AutoZone to buy a pair of brake lights since mine was broken. Upon walking through the door, one of their staff Luis warmly greeted me. After confirming the right type of brake lights for my car, he provided me with useful information on LED lights vs. regular lights. After checking my phone and realizing that all auto shops in Napa have closed, I decided to take my chance and go back inside to ask if they would be willing to take a look and perhaps install it for me. Fortunately, even though Luis explained to me that they normally don't do something like this, he sympathized with my struggle and came out to help me after assisting all other customers in line. As someone who knows nothing about cars, I learned a lot about brake lights by talking to him while he was patiently replacing the light bulb. Luis was close to finishing it but he was needed back in store, so he introduced me to his manager Umer who went on and skillfully completed the replacement for me. Thank you Luis and Umer for going out of your way to help me out! AutoZone has never failed me with their customer service; yesterday, they went above and beyond. I've had positive customer service experiences at AutoZone in the past, like 100% of the time until today. My "low engine oil" light came on so I sought out the closest AutoZone (I'm pretty brand loyal) and this one was it. The man on shift and 12:30 p.m. on 6/30 was not very helpful and while I wouldn't go so far as to say rude, his customer service made me leave. I gave him the information on my car so he could help me find the right oil then he just kind of gestured to the wall of different oils and rattled off brand names. I was hoping he would identify the correct oil for my car so I could just buy it, put it in my car and be in my way but his "help" was the equivalent of my walking into the store and just going to the isle of oil and guessing...and he tried to sell me an oil filter too (wth!?). I like AutoZone so will continue to go to their stores but I won't be back to this one. I went to Napa Auto .25 miles down the road and they helped me. read more

Autozone saved us when we needed help changing our battery after our battery died on us in the middle of the road.

It seems that the leadership in this store doesn't seem to understand that their customer's time is valuable. I've gone in several times to this location because of the proximity to my home. However, it seems that almost every time I go in there, I immediately regret my decision. It's not the cashier's fault. The poor guy is stuck with 6 people waiting in line and even though the management walks by the front and can see the line but seem to not even care. To make it even more difficult, the poor guy needs a password, and requests it, but it's as if he tried talking to a brick wall. Today, it took management 8 minutes to come solve his problem. Meanwhile, my wife's food is getting cold in the truck. Yayfunhappiness O'Reilly's is about a half mile further away but I find myself there more and more.... read more

I asked an employee about "who was in the back?" And surprise surprise, it was the store manager. This is such a shock to me! I do a lot business with this store. For the most part this is a great store with great people, working hard. I recently did brakes on my truck, purchased all parts that I might need. I took back calipers ( didn't need) and got a credit back to my debit card. Went home and handed receipts to wife and she said she would monitor account to make sure it went through. IT DIDN'T SHOW UP! Phone call was made to AutoZone and they said I received cash back. This did not happen. Tomorrow I will go to the Napa store and try to find out the Mystery of the lost cash! I'll keep you posted! UPDATE: The mystery of the lost cash is solved! I just didn't remember them giving me the cash, but they provided me a screen shot of me with the time stamped receipt, standing at the register with the cash in my hand. I almost want to give 2 stars because I've had ok experience here in the past. But this really pisses me off, and my overall outlook at this point matches the Yelp! rating description: "Eek! Methinks not." I came in to AutoZone at Soscol and Lincoln about a month ago and needed 5 lug bolts, and the store only had 2 in stock. So I took the 2 they had on hand, and special-ordered another 3, to be shipped from another store. AutoZone never called to let me know the bolts were in. At any rate, the car ended up dying a couple weeks later and I didn't need the 3 bolts after all. I had to return to AutoZone anyway (to return a tool kit I borrowed), showed the guy at the counter my receipt, and I asked if I could "return" the bolts I paid for but don't need now. The guy said (and I'm refraining from name-calling only because Yelp! would probably censor the review): "That would be like you taking a receipt to Walmart and asking them to refund you money for something you didn't buy." What?! .... WHAT?!?! Back up a minute. Did you just call me a (expletive withheld) thief? I'm your CUSTOMER. And one who PAID FOR A PART that you DIDN'T GIVE TO ME. YOU OWE ME 3 lug bolts. Let's reset our perspective here, dude. On further explanation, the reason why he felt it appropriate to assume that I'm a thief is that evidently the store manager keeps record of which parts come in and out, and would be the person to know whether I had already picked up these bolts. Life lesson: Things work much better when you explain them and don't assume bad (even criminal) faith from your customers. If you started with that and not the cute Walmart story, I might not be writing this review. Except that when I asked when the manager is in the store, and he just stared at me like he couldn't figure out why this would matter, and I said "I work", and he shot back "I work too." (... great point? though it's still lost on me ...) Or when I asked if I could just have the parts then, he told me that they sent the parts back to the original store when I didn't pick them up, I asked "even though I PAID for them?", and he explained that they have to because if they held onto these parts, they wouldn't have room to stock everything else they sell. Any idea how big these 3 bolts are? Also consider that I drained their stock of the last 2. Evidently warehousing an extra bolt is a humongous burden that science hasn't solved yet. Or the eye-rolling "Pfff..." when I told him I was returning a toolkit I borrowed a month ago. (Actually, I paid for it in full, with the promise that I could keep it as long as I needed, and they'd refund it in full when I returned it.) So these guys have my money, and I have to show up at AutoZone while the manager is there (which is also when I'm at work in Palo Alto), and hope I don't get treated like a thief again. For 9 bucks? This is how you get treated by AutoZone in return for giving them your money up-front in return for the promise of a part later. How much money does AutoZone make, I wonder, by selling people parts they don't have in stock, not notifying them when they arrive, quietly re-absorbing them into inventory, then treating the owner of those parts like a thief when he shows up in the store? Bang-up job, guys. You're CRUSHING it over there. My humble recommendation, if you're not too busy working (because I know you work too!), and open to the idea that maaaaaaybe there's something that could be improved here: Do not, *EVER*, treat your paying customer like they might be a thief. Unless you're trying to drive them away so they won't claim the parts they already paid for. (Hmm. It's almost as if this is a line item on their budget.) read more

"Auto Zone" is a clean, colorful, friendly looking venue across the street from FedEx/Kinko's and Wal-Mart. The parking lot is somewhat small, and a challenge to get into. It's easier to enter it from the east, after coming off the Silverado Trail. There are a couple of parking spaces. I needed help with getting a new lightbulb for my headlight, since it had been one-eyed like a Cyclops or Odin. They installed it in about 15 minutes. The store is clean, the employees are friendly and helpful, and there's salsa music playing. As for my car... let there be light! read more

I would mark all 5+ stars for Gabriel, but unfortunately he works with other people who do not share the same professionalism and work ethic he does. I was in a pinch and needed a battery replacement - Gabriel was knowledgable, helpful, and quick. I was surprised he has only been working in the store for a month. He helped me instal my new battery, even after his co- worker rudely suggested I would need to also buy the tools to install the battery and stated "we don't have to install the battery for you" It's Gabriel's type of customer service that generates more business AND income by making customers want to come back. I was the only person in line this morning. The phone rang and instead of waiting on me, the cashier answered the phone and waited on the caller. This is totally unacceptable. I made the effort to drive to the store. If the cashier knew anything about good customer service, she would have politely put the caller on hold and waited on me. This place is run so unprofessional. The Assistant manager Soujob was horrible and rude. My husband and I waiting for three hours to be helped and she kept telling us to come back Tomorrow. Thank you to Luis who was very nice to us and apologized for the way she was behaving. He was the only one in the store assisting multiple customers and answering phone calls. Luis was a big help and very much appreciated. As for the assistant manager she needs to be re trained in the customer service department. read more

The staff in this place have no sense of urgency. After waiting in line for 20 minutes for a cashiers to stop deliberating with confused patrons who probably didn't speak english I put my items back and left. These people were tripping over a dollar to save a dime. I am very grateful for his help. Horrible customer service. Bought a battery for my Nissan there 18 months ago. Was told it had a 5 year warranty. My car has been having problems for the past three months with the battery dying if my car was not started everyday. Got stranded when my car would not start and had to get it towed to my mechanic's shop. Was told my battery would not hold a charge and had to get it replaced. Went back to Auto Zone to see if I could get a refund or store credit since I did not need a new battery after having my mechanic replace to bad one. While I waited for help three more people came in with bad batteries. I was told they would need to but the battery on a charger to see if it would hold a charge before they could do anything about the warranty. The manager, Dawn, was supposed to call me once they were able to charge the battery. After an hour I called the store and was told she was gone for the day. I tried calling three times the next day to speak with Dawn only to be told she was busy, with customers or at lunch. Finally went to the store in person. I watch Dawn walk to the back of the store. When I asked to speak with her I was told she had gone home for the evening. When I asked about my battery I was told it was fine and I could take it home. I asked them to recheck it with the battery tester. After a few minutes of testing I was told it had 52% charge. If the battery was charged on their charger it should have been closer to 100%. I pointed this out to the sales associate who had to admit that I was right. Since he did not have any mangers authority all he could do was give me a new battery, which I pointed out again that I did not need. He said I could always sell it on e-bay. Oh, and while I was there three more people came in the batteries to have exchanged. Will never go there again. read more

Some of the employees are helpful when their managers are standing next to them other wise they are useless. I have had a few too many bad experiences at Napa AutoZone particularly with the customer service. Once I came in looking for a part that autozone.com said napa store was in stock, and the store clerk said they didn't have any in stock. So I went home printed it out and returned within the hour and gave the print out to a different clerk and he punched the number in the comp and found it on the shelf. So if you don't like your time wasted I would not suggest this Napa Autozone I would go to O'reilly or Napa Auto parts. But if you really have go to a AutoZone because of a sale or coupon I would suggest going to American Canyon AutoZone where they are cleaner, the lines are shorter and the clerks are defiantly better at their jobs. read more
