Timely responses, easy to work with people, honest and good mechanics. I've had the best experience with figuring out a problem was one of the cars, getting a quick turnaround on the other car. The only place and only professionals I would recommend! I prefer a shop that will accommodate what I would like to have done on my car and not push unwanted work. Respectfully, this is the problem with a shop like this- which operates like a dealer. They have customer service employees that constantly push you to spend (I suspect that customer service has incentives on their billings). In my case, I just wanted my own provided part to be installed. And if Joe said we can't do that or we can't warranty that installation, I would have understood. Again, I was willing to only pay for labor while accepting all risks. But of course, what I got was "you need a new engine, the battery is bad, you need brakes." After several unwanted suggestions from Joe, I decided to take my beater elsewhere.

UPDATE 4/26/2023 I…read moream absolutely mind-blown by the ownership and accountability taken by Casey Automotive's owner, Mark. While, I would give my one-time experience with the mechanics a 0 star rating, I would give the follow-up by the ownership and absolute 6 star rating out of 5. That averages out to 3 stars. I would say that I have rarely seen this type of follow-up and care for their customers and their experiences from any other business. This was truly the example of good business practices. Mark compensated me for the outstanding bill associated with my issue and then some for my horrible day. I will assume my experience was an anomaly as I have never had this issue prior to this day. I thank Mark for reminding me that Casey is a family-owned business and a member of our community and I will do my part and continue to pledge my future business to their garage. Thank you again for making me feel valued as a customer and doing the right thing. Your business is truly an example for all other businesses out there.

The shelves were super dusty and had a strange assortment of items. The shelves in back were super sparse. I came in for a cabin air filter for a 2020 Honda Civic and an air freshener. They had about 4 strangely scented air freshener options and no cabin air filters for a civic. I guess maybe do curbside so you can make sure they have what you need, because these both seem like auto store staples.

Nine months later, another mechanic attempted to remove the lug nuts and told me they were over-torqued. Two of them snapped during removal. Mavis initially said the lug nuts were properly torqued to 100 ft-lbs and blamed the issue on cheap lug nuts and oxidation. Discount Tire encountered the same problem and also stated they were over-torqued. When I returned to Mavis, they acknowledged that the correct torque should have been 80 ft-lbs, based on the torque chart posted behind their counter. The store manager, Melissa, initially said she would look into the issue and try to rectify it. Melissa tried to help us and agreed with our concern but the regional manager told her Mavis had a new policy against working on vehicles with aftermarket wheels. Melissa said she was not aware of this policy. When I picked up my vehicle and asked to see the policy in writing, they could not provide any documentation. If you are choosing between automotive shops in Palatine, I highly advise staying away from Mavis. Very disappointing experience, and I will not be returning.
