Ever since Hunter's abandoned all its Chevy customers, I have taken my 2002 4WD Chevy Suburban,…read morepurchased new from Hunter's, to Dale's. They have maintained it mechanically better and more economically than Hunter's ever did. At the 1st 100K service point, the dealer wanted over $1000 to perform the required service. At the 100K mile point, the water pump also began to leak, Dale's the 100K service by the book and did it right for $600 including replacing the water pump and changing the transfer cases' odd blue oil. Note, I have 360K miles on this vehicle, and so far, has needed a new water pump at each 100K mile interval, it is on its 3rd pump, but, it is amazingly easy to change out, 2 hour job at most.

I have been going to this same garage for years, previously owned by Glover and was very satisfied…read more All my trucks and my personal car was repaired over the years with them. When he sold out, the first couple times it seemed higher, but of course I new they had to cover purchase costs, things have gone up since Covid, etc. It was called Carstarz, now Street Automotive. That being said, prices going up a bit is fair and somewhat normal. What is not normal and fair is when a business is seeming to gouge you so excessively you feel like you have a "sucker" mark on your forehead. One example was I took one of my trucks in on 06/15/2023, it needed brakes. I was told it needed brakes pads in rotors in the front at a cost of $1017.47, plus a right hub for $620.29, plus spark plug and wires for 554.03, , then a brake flush for $128.09, two wheel alignment for $266.88 and fuel service after changing plugs for $241.14, along with alignment check for $66.72 , test drive charge for $133.44 and diagnostic charge of 66.72 since ABS light was on! Total $3239.93. I declined but was charged all three test drive and diagnostic charges to get out of there! I told a friend and he said it should run about a third of the quote! So just to be sure I was being realistic and before I would review them and stop sending people to them, i took my Lexus SUV in that was making noise to see what they would say and quote. They told me it needed new hubs in the front that were very expensive, $850.00 plus labor, a total of $2530.00!. I told them thanks but I have to decline and will pick it up. When I went to pick it up they said they might be able to find the hubs cheaper and will call me with a lower quote. They texted me a new lower quote, about half of the original I turned down the day before! So I then scheduled at a garage down the road, who told me yes it needed hubs and they did it right away for under $975.00. If you are a regular customer of this garage, I would just say that you should get a second opinion on services and prices. I did, it it saved me thousands of dollars!

This is the third time I have brought my car here, I'm not sure if they have a staffing issue, and…read moreunder promise nothing and under deliver is taken seriously here. I'm mystified by the good reviews, I can't even get anyone to tell me what's wrong with the car and look at it after leaving it for weeks at times, are they interested in doing inspections and oil changes only and only look at cars when there's nothing for the day, and their policy is to tell customers they don't know when they leave and be able to look at it, that it might be next week. On average, the last three times I've brought a vehicle here, I've had to call three times a remind them for them to even look at it, and they have moved towards never being able to give any kind of expected time I'm assuming they're still taking new vehicle's during that time and just forgetting about my vehicle or prioritizing people, they know or something? It's anyone's guess when there's no communication. So two thoughts 1. Someone in charge is overwhelmed Adhd person and is not processing cars in the order they come in while customers are being forgotten and not communicated with. 2. Whoever is in charge doesn't have the business assertion skills to refuse business. It would be better to have a future customer than create bad customer service that would make someone wanna take the time to write the review I am writing. The people have not been inpolite at the front desk, but like I said, it's promise, nothing and deliver nothing here, Secondly, I am returning the car for the second time with the same problem, after waiting a week and a half for them to look at it the last time, they informed me that it would be another unknown amount of time before they can order the parts to do the complete repair job, so I let them replace the ignition coil and got my car back I love my town, and I would love to give a better review for a local business, but for now I'm looking for another mechanic, and I would recommend you do the same. Maybe going to Asheville is worth it. When I was on the other side of town, I got some pretty good service at several places. Again, I'm willing to reconsider my experience if somebody wants to reach out, but this has been the worst customer experience at an auto place ever. It would be better for you to tell people that you can't take any business and that they would do better somewhere else then to instruct your staff to tell people you don't know when you'll be able to get to it and make them beg you to plug the machine in and let them let them know what the code says Update: 1/19/23: found a new mechanic, turns out one of the two coils they replaced just two months ago, failed because they were of dubious quality. Amazing Customer Service!…read more While following someone to drop off their car to be repaired, my tire blew out. I had a two-year old in the car and no AAA. It would have been more than $50 and more than an hour for someone to come fix it. The only luck that I had that day, was that my tire blew out close to Dave's. Joe drove across the highway to my car (saving me the towing fee,) figured out the tire size, ordered the tires and drove back to fix my car. He did all of this while I took my son home so that he could nap. If it wasn't for Joe, I would have been standing on the side of a highway, in the rain, with a cranky, tired two-year-old for what would have seemed like a lifetime. And I would've spent a lot more money. Thank you, Joe. Thank you Dave's.
