The hands on experience in the playrooms was my children's favorite, as it made the history we read about come alive. My kids are 2, 6, and 9. The play areas are definitely designed more for the 5-6 and under crowd, but we all had fun. All my children loved the walk through mine experience and the model train exhibit. We just had to ask a staff member to turn it on, and the kids were thrilled! As a family we spent about an hour there, it could have been longer if my little ones had more stamina. The staff had organized a cute scavenger hunt activity which was lots of fun!

That was one of the many bites of trivia that I learned on my most recent visit to the museum. This museum has a modest amount of historical artifacts on display-done in a creative way that resembles your grandma's house. There are also some interactive exhibits where kids can play with the food in the grocery store, dress up in the small house or walk through a coal mine cave. It's really well done and is a nice place to poke your creativity. There's no fee to enter the museum and there's plenty of parking. Make it a day and bring the kids for some fun!

The amount of unruly older aged kids running amok pushing and shoving younger kids to play hide & seek was absolutely obnoxious!!! Throwing legos and plastic balls throughout the museum without anyone stopping them parents or staff was totally uncalled for and now I know why barely anything works here. I'm thankful I didn't pay admission fees because I would be sorely disappointed in tear my money paid for. The reviews and photos online make this place out to be so much better than our experience today. The Children's museum downtown is, not only cleaner, it's more taken care of & supervised by staff way better than this museum. It's like adults dropped off their middle school kids and left them unsupervised.

The museum is located in a wheelchair-accessible house and every room covers a different aspect of life in days gone by. They also offer research options for those who might have ancestors from that area as I do. If you live in the Salt Lake area and haven't visited here, gather up your kids and stop by. (Psst, there's also a huge play structure at the City park within a stone's throw of the museum.) The wonderful people who staff the museum are ready and willing to show you whatever bits of history you're most interested in! Unfortunately, id probably say it's currently one of my least favorite activities at thanksgiving point. Probably due to the age of my kids. They are 2 and 4 , and don't quite enjoy themselves as much here like they do at the Jurassic jungle or the museum of natural curiosity. Even if you have younger kids though, it's still a decent place to spend part of your day, especially if you have the annual pass and want to change things up.
