I've purchased several pieces from atomic gold over the years and recently got a custom. Everything is well made and the chain style rings are very comfortable and I barely notice I have them on. This business is ethical in its materials, social advocacy and employee treatment which means a lot to me as far as the businesses I support. I also have clicker earrings for my cartilage piercings and I love how tough it is for them to accidentally come un-clicked. The custom process went really smoothly, the product was delivered in the promised timeline and there was good communication regarding design. Overall I really recommend this business, especially for those with ethical concerns and people in the LGBT+ community. read more

If you're wanting to get custom jewelry (and especially an engagement ring) look no further. My fiancée and I both got our rings created by Automic Gold and they exceeded our expectations every step of the way. The team is so communicative, willing to answer any questions we had along the way, and were able to take our ideas and make them work in our budget. If you're getting a custom ring, I highly recommend getting the wax mold. We were able to double check the sizes and proportions, which was great because we had to slightly resize one of the rings. You will not regret working with Automic Gold. Can't wait to get more jewelry in the future. Thank you again for making our ring dreams come true! read more

I have several pieces of jewelry from AG and most recently had a custom bangle made. Customer service and communication were exceptional. It was all done through email, though I'm sure they would've been happy to take a phone call if I wanted one. I love all my jewelry from them, but this custom piece exceeded my expectations. It is absolutely beautiful and identical to the CAD preview they sent me. On top of being gorgeous, all of their jewelry is comfortable. I also love supporting an ethical and trans-owned business. read more

This is one of my fav fine jewelry stores of all time. I just wish they had a physical store still! Their customer service is great. I was inspired to write this review after getting some custom earrings made that came out so beautifully. I have a pair of studs from them already in the same style, so I knew I was going to love these. They stay on great even without screw backs, no concerns about losing them. They so comfortable - I never take them off. I think the prices they charge reflect the quality. The earrings in particular are my absolute favorite - I have multiple pairs of studs (I buy/recommend them as gifts too) and hoops. read more

I ordered a custom pendant to commemorate a stamp my grandfather drew to represent our family. I was super nervous, but they have a whole FAQ about ordering a custom piece, and their team is so nice. SO amazing to work with. I was so picky about the tassels and how they were represented on the pendant (as opposed to the drawing). The piece is so beautiful and almost made me cry happy tears when I saw it. It turned out exactly how I imagined - I've been wearing it so much. I appreciate that they were willing to inform me about the reasons behind the questions I asked rather than say "that's just how it is". I asked about purchasing a chain and they actually told me that the chain should be the same weight as the pendant, which I did not know!! SO MANY THANKS to the custom team!! I appreciate everything! read more

Whenever I've wanted to give my partner an especially special gift, I've often turned to Automic Gold for their beautifully refined and ethically-sourced jewelry. So when it came time to pop the question to my fiancé, I had no doubt in my mind where I wanted to get the family jewelry I'd inherited made into an engagement and wedding ring. The customs team at AG were nothing but kind, knowledgeable, responsive, and honest -- they answered every single question I had, and were prompt in providing invoices and further photographs when requested. Not only that, but talk about turnaround time -- I was told I'd get my rings back in 5-8 weeks, and I got them in 2. That was really nice. Thank you folks for being such a tremendous business and now a part of my own history forever! read more

Love love LOVE this company! I have a few off-the-shelf pieces from them and they are the perfect mix of dainty-looking while being well-made and sturdy enough to hold up to every day wear. I particularly like their birthstone necklaces - they are great for layering as they don't tangle with other necklaces. I recently placed a custom order for a new wedding and engagement ring with them and was so happy with the process from start to finish. I was a little worried that having to do everything remotely (since I am on the opposite coast) was going to make things tricky but it could not have been easier! I sent them an overview of what I wanted and was able to pick out the exact diamond for my ring from their inventory. They also provided images of what different carat sizes look like on my ring size, which was VERY helpful and prevented me from accidentally going too big for my tastes. They kept me updated every step of the way, and I was able to see and make changes to a CAD drawing of my rings. Overall the turnaround time from my initial email request to the ring being ready to ship was ~6 weeks which was way faster than I was expecting, especially given that I requested modifications after seeing the CAD and that all communications were being done via email. The price was also incredibly reasonable given that I was requesting a custom set. In particular, I think their diamond prices were VERY fair, especially compared to prices I've seen from other, less high quality companies. The Custom team was super friendly and knowledgeable and was helpful every step of the way. And I absolutely love my rings! They are just what I imagined but somehow even better. Very happy to support a small company with such big morals :) read more

I am terribly embarrassed to admit that I got scammed by this company. The return policy is a lie. You have to email someone requesting a return, which of course is ignored. Any negative review gets deleted on their website. The picture and weight of the gold promised doesn't match What I received. The gemstone doesn't match the description or the the picture on the website. I'm just so angry that I wasted my time and money with this company. read more

I was on the hunt for solid, yellow gold rose earrings. I just could not find a pair I liked. I couldn't get the idea out of my head so I was considering having them custom made. Then, thankfully I found Automic Gold. I purchased my earrings online and they were SO much prettier in person. They had a fantastic weight to them so I knew they were indeed solid gold, and the design is stunning. Each petal looks as though it was crafted individually and has variations like a real flower. I was so impressed that I purchased a second pair for my mom the next day. Every detail of my experience was top notch, even the packaging is so cute. This review is long overdue, but I love Automic Gold and had the best experience with them! My fiance and I ordered custom wedding and engagement rings. We only had some ideas of what we wanted to start, but Al and their team were super patient and helpful in creating our designs. They came out better than I ever could have dreamed! Al is super knowledgeable, too, and helped me make changes to the design of my fiance's ring to make sure it's beautiful and durable for everyday wear. We always get compliments on them and love showing them off! :) To get into the nitty gritty of the finances part, their custom options are more affordable than other jewelers we've researched. Each wedding set that we purchased was around $5,000 all in. The payment plan option through Affirm helps a lot as well since we wanted to spread out the payments instead of load it all at once. read more

I only spoke to customer service via email, but the folks where were sooo helpful. They helped me design a custom engagement ring for my (now) fiancé, from sending me a variety of sustainably sourced gems that matched my description, even offering to cut a gem they had to the size i was interested in. They sent me a mock up of the design, worked with me to get my desired font for the engraving, and shipped quickly. They were also very affordable. You'll be glad you worked with this accessible and friendly jewelry team! I have had the pleasure of working with Automic Gold on a few occasions online, and they always made me feel confident and knowledgeable about the $ choices I make! Their custom team is responsive and patient, and their jewelers are talented. I never felt rushed into making an expensive choice or pressured to shop for more than what I am looking for. Their mission as an ethical jewelry company is also wonderful (recycled gold only, fair compensation model for all their employees), and I think it really shines in their customer interactions. I had to switch to solid gold earrings due to a metal sensitivity and Automic Gold has been my go-to for all of my piercings. I've just completed my second custom order with them and they are so timely and responsive. Their custom order form is so simple and they work with you until you get what you want. We were so excited to order our engagement and weddings rings from this company. Beautiful jewelry and actual ethics?! Yes please. We got to pick them up in person and meet the owner, a few workers, and the badass security dog. Everyone was a delight. My engagement ring broke less than a week before the wedding. I reached out and they were able to get a replacement to us in time. Clutch. Response time wasn't instantaneous. And I loved that - it gave me hope that there's an actual work life balance out there. These rings are symbolic of hope and optimism and a future. We're going to get messy with them, laugh our asses off and surely weep grief with them. I like that the company feels that intentional too. read more

I loved my experience with Automic Gold from start to finish. They were responsive, helpful, and informative. I ordered a custom version of an existing ring with a black diamond instead of a colourless one. They estimated 3-5 weeks for it to be ready and it was done in 8 days! I had an extremely disheartening experience with a local jeweler trying to make me a custom wedding band that the stone kept falling out of and I'm so happy to say I finally have my forever ring. My local jeweler failed to mention that onyx is not a suitable gemstone for daily wear (probably why it kept falling out and eventually chipped after only 6 months of wear). I had him remake the ring 3 times and I still wasn't happy with it. He used silicone to hold the stone in instead of a bezel like I wanted and I could see it gathering dirt from daily wear. After so many disappointing experiences, I decided to invest in a ring from Automic Gold instead. I'd been admiring their website for a while, but when I saw the Square Carre Cut Diamond Band, I fell in love. This ring is so comfortable that I don't even take it off to sleep. Their sensory-friendly mix band is stylish, but has no blunt edges. This was an excellent accommodation for my sensory needs that I didn't even know was possible! I trust that the quality will stand the test of time and no longer have to worry about a stone falling out or seeing silicone goo every time I look at my ring! Now that I've seen the amazing quality and service, my wife will be ordering a ring from them in the near future to replace hers as well. On another important note, I am so proud to be supporting a queer, trans, autistic-owned business with the same values as me. This is a rare find nowadays. Wearing this wedding band will not only represent my commitment to my partner, but also my commitment to my comrades and pride in my identities. Thank you so much, Automic Gold! read more

Really wanted to love this store given everything they stand for. I decided to invest in a pair of quality studs I could wear all day everyday, which the website states their jewelry is capable of. After some research I decided to get a pair of opal earrings, per the blog post some discoloration can happen with opals. I'm not picky, that was fine with me. After a few months I thought one of my opals had fallen out, after closer inspection the opal went entirely transparent. I emailed AU and they basically said that the website states this could happen, and I can pay to mail it back, and spend 80$ to get a new opal, and pay to ship it back to myself. The blog post said some discoloration, not that the opal would look like glass. Additionally, the tone of the email was also very rude and dismissive. Additionally, before the opal issue, I ordered a custom bracelet. After only a few weeks the bracelet broke and AU told me I could pay to have it shipped both ways, and also pay for the repair. Given this happened in less than a month I was shocked they didn't offer to repair for free. For a company that promotes durable and wearable jewelry my two pieces were not able to hold up for more than a few months. Really disappointed in the business, I won't be buying from them in the future. read more

I bought three anklets from atomic gold during the summer they were nice enough to resize my jewelry after I didn't size myself correctly. After I received the correct size anklets I only got to enjoy them for three days before two of them broke. I'm unable to find the other one and I'm stuck with one and another one that's broken. I'm aware that I can send it back to be fixed but I still lost one and they will just break again. I spent $500 on real gold and only got to wear my order for three days. obviously they can't do anything about the missing one but I just don't believe I can enjoy my other two without worrying if at some point during my day they'll be missing. I loved them and I do understand gold is fragile especially for how thin it is but they were on my ankle and not snug at all. I absolutely will not be purchasing from this business again. read more

Love love love this shop. The exact type of folx I want to support and keep open! Small, minority owned, recycled materials, socially and eco conscious...done and done. This NY biz has my SF business. Started with some yellow gold chains - everything is 14k - which can be ordered in a large variety of lengths. They arrived quickly and were sparkly as can be. Packaging was cute and included the raddest stickers and polishing cloth. You can also choose to order with minimal packaging, which I thought was a nice offering. I jumped in again with a custom charm in honor of my pooch. I wish the photos showed how beautiful it is in person, because it looks a bit dull when it's in fact bright and perfect. They sent a CAD rendering to approve and made minor tweaks until I was happy. Even with an overload of custom orders (they paused taking them!) I still received my charm in a reasonable amount of time. I find myself constantly browsing the site to see what I want next. I had the absolute best experience with Automic Gold and recommend them *so* highly. I recently got engaged and wanted my rings to be custom-made from heirloom jewelry. We shopped around a bit and weren't finding a shop we loved until I remembered Automic Gold (I follow them on IG). It immediately felt like the right place for us, with beautiful examples of custom work, fast communication with AL, and accessible pricing. I was also really happy to be supporting a queer-, trans-, indigenous POC-owned small business, and size-inclusive, body-positive one to boot. After a couple weeks talking through design (I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted), I shipped the heirlooms to them and they got to work. They reused the stones and recycled the gold, with a credit toward the rings purchase. The 3D model they sent was super accurate, so I felt really confident in what I was getting before starting production. Still, when the rings arrived I was honestly blown away by how beautiful they were. They're just perfect and I love having modern, bespoke pieces made from old, sentimental stones. I couldn't be happier with this whole process and am recommending Automic Gold to everyone I know who even vaguely mentions jewelry, lol. read more

I have never been to the physical location, but have received excellent online service. I ordered during a time in which I'm sure the company was very busy Valentine's Week in order to get myself a gift. I purchased a number 9 gold Necklace and a nose ring (as a gift for a friend). The package came timely and required a signature. As it's covid I do not believe that the delivery driver had to receive a physical signature from me and proceeded to leave the package in my apartment mailbox. I sent a worried email to AG and they responded so kindly trying to help me when I had my package all along. TLDR: excellent company with great shipping practices. We had a fantastic experience buying an engagement ring from Automic. My partner and I cared a lot about recycled metal and ethically sourced jewelery, and traveled to NYC for a weekend to visit the Automic studio in person. The appointment was easy to set up and we had a great experience working with them to select a design and the exact salt-and-pepper diamond I wanted. They were helpful and easy to correspond with over email when we were making our final decision, and very transparent about pricing. The turnaround from ordering to receiving the item in the mail was about a month, right on target for their predicted timeline, and a very quick turnaround especially since it was November and we were coming up on the holidays. The studio kept us updated on their timeline and made sure we were able to get shipping updates and plan to be available to pick up the order. My ring is exactly what I wanted and very beautiful, and we got a good price, comparable or better than other local jewelers and much less than some of the popular indie brands offering salt-and-pepper diamond rings online. I definitely felt like I got a great value in not only the jewelery but also the quality of service. read more

Highly, highly recommend! I've shopped via Automic Gold's website a few times in the past and have had a great experience each time. I recently contacted them with a handful of questions about custom work and I cannot speak highly enough about the service. Every response I got was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and kind. I don't have any prior experience with custom jewelry and didn't really know what to expect, and not only were all of my questions answered, but they didn't make me feel silly for asking any of them, even if the answers were quite obvious. Gems, design, process, price -- you name it and they graciously went over it with me. I ended up making my order confidently and without any lingering concerns or worries. The rings arrived yesterday and they are everything I'd hoped for! Truly exquisite!! I'd typed up the meat of this review before this particular order even arrived because I had SUCH a good experience with the customer service that I wanted to rave about it while it was fresh in my mind, and that's probably for the best because otherwise this would be several paragraphs incoherent rambling about how PRETTY. I've bought a number of pieces from Automic Gold: - A custom yellow gold and ruby ring - Their white gold and diamond signet ring - Their white gold essential chain - Their white gold curb chain - Their white gold trans symbol charm I love them all! Automic Gold is the only jewelry I wear now, and I wear at least three or four of their pieces all day, everyday. They wear very well through showers, physical labor, and other situations where you might otherwise feel uncomfortable wearing jewelry. I especially appreciate how thin the band is on their rings--really makes you forget you're wearing jewelry at all. Before this, I was never a ring person! I don't live in NYC, so all my pieces were ordered online. My experiences buying custom pieces, engraved pieces, and off-the-shelf pieces have all been great. Customer service via email has been excellent. As a queer person, I also love supporting a queer-owned business. I directed most of my jewelry funds toward Automic Gold in the past year and was happy to patronize a diverse company in their success, as well as recommend them to friends looking for affordable, quality jewelry. Unfortunately, I can no longer give my business to them now or in the future. After a recent gift purchase went missing (marked delivered, never received, likely placed in the wrong box and taken by whomever "received" it), they redirected my inquiries to their insurer, who informed me that I would not be eligible to receive a replacement or a refund until I filed a police report. There is tremendous irony in an allegedly socially-minded company prioritizing the rhetoric of policing in our communities, whether you agree with policing or not. I understand the nuances of their agreement with their insurer likely dictate that this is mandatory for their own reimbursement, but I'm more than surprised and disappointed that they would accept this as a policy and not make direct amends themselves. Unfortunately, I am the only one left in the lurch now. The onus has been placed on me to report my mail carrier, a diligent worker, for alleged theft. I now carry the risk and the burden of putting a likely uninvolved party at harm for whatever stress and ramification that brings. I'd rather eat the money I lost than do that, and it looks like that's my only option since Automic has distanced themselves from the situation. I am sorry to have lost Automic Gold in my roster, as I was looking forward to using them for larger purchases. With this and other reports here, I am glad that I didn't deal with a greater loss, but I am quite disappointed how it all shook out, and saddened to lose a special holiday gift. read more

TLDR; We sent diamonds to be made into an engagement ring. The ring was made and shipped back, but missing a diamond. AG didn't acknowledge or take responsibility for the mistake ever. My girlfriend and I have been planning on purchasing an engagement ring for a while. She follows Automic Gold on Instagram and we were both super excited to support a business that aligned with our beliefs. After we saved up and felt ready we sent in her grandma's ring so they could reuse the diamonds in our new ring. The customization process was smooth. We received a mock up of the ring and really liked it. The mock up used all but one of the diamonds we sent and my girlfriend sent an email verifying that they had received all of them and ask if they were just not going to use the other one, which she was fine with. We were assured that they would use all of them. After the final mock up showed one less diamond than we sent we again asked if they were all there. We were assured they were. So trusting that assurance and that maybe one of the diamonds was smaller than we remembered. We received the engagement ring and were very excited. But, there we were missing a diamond. The one we thought we remembered wrong did not match the setting we sent it in. (Automic added smaller diamonds to make the ring look nice, these were the ones we mistook for ours). My girlfriend followed up and asked what had happened. We quickly received an email saying they tracked down our missing diamond and would mail it to us. This is the missing diamond they said would be in the ring. There was never an apology. There was no attempt to rectify the situation. Just mailing us a lose diamond that we were assured would be a part of our engagement ring. The experience was bad. The ring is quality and we still love it. But the experience was bad. I likely won't be using this business again. read more

Can't believe this place has no reviews? It's tucked inside the Artists & Fleas Market in Soho. Given that they sell actual gold products, the prices are higher than the other vendors at the place, but the quality is by far better than the rest. Loved many of the dainty jewelry pieces they had, offered in white, yellow, and rose gold. I believe Chris was the person helping me on a Thursday night, and he was very patient as I tried different pieces. Also like that they are manufactured in NYC and using recycled gold. This also means that the prices would be a bit hire than those manufactured in offshore like Mejuri's, but it worth the price difference to support a local small business. I ended up with a rose gold necklace that I love. Been wearing it everyday since. One thing to note is that the rose gold is actually very subtle in person so it's very pretty. On the website, it's highly saturated. Had I not seen their items in person, I'm not sure I would have purchased them. read more
