John did an awesome job for me on 1/22/26 in Merced. He went above and beyond. Replaced a chain, fixed a mounting problem, and even helped with reprogramming my key pad. It was refreshing to have someone that actually knew his job and knew it well. I hired another gate installer in the past out of Modesto and they sent someone out that was completely lost and it was obvious they had no idea what they were doing ( he definetly did not know how to reprogram a key pad or even try). Finding a competitive and affordable custom gate installer for a residential home in the Bay Area is tough. Most companies will not quote anything below $10,000. Until I came across John's company Automatic Gate Operations while searching Craigslist :) John Randisi and his team worked fast in assessing our needs and providing multiple quotes to work within our budget and fence style (traditional, horizontal wood slats, chevron design, and different metal frames). He even came out and visited our house to assess what needed to be done. The area of our home that needed an automatic sliding gate was on a grade which was a challenge in my mind, but John had multiple solutions at different costs. We ultimately went with his recommendation which proved to be the most streamlined and efficient. We are happy we did. The turnaround time from the quoting to completion was about two and a half weeks, which to us was very fast considering all the foundation, concrete, fabrication, welding, building, painting, and staining had to be done from scratch. The workmanship and quality of the build (from the materials used, to the welding seams, finishing of the metal, woodworking, and his own fence frame designs) is top quality considering the affordable price. On the final day to go over the finished fence, John came out and explained the operation and have us evaluate the project. He was very thorough in describing what was done, as well as receptive to any feedback. We didn't have any on the build, other than we should have requested to match the color of the metal frame to our other metal grates along the house--our fault, not John's! Which leads me to note that John can do anything you request, you just have to let him know. Ultimately I highly recommend John and his team from Automatic Gate Operations. I am really glad I found john and his team!!! They are GREAT.... My previous gate guy finished the job per their standard and basically just did HALF job to make my gate WORK!!! It did NOT work appropriately smoothly. After he finished the work, we can't find him to come back to fix the problems. That was the reason we need professional assistance. John came out to do initial evaluation and explained to us what went wrong and what need to be fixed. During the first visit, he even tried to fix some minor problems. I needed a gate with an opening of 16ft, so I went with a metal frame double swing gate with 6 inch square poles that were put into the ground 42 inches. Rock solid gate. I had redwood placed on the outside to match my existing wooden fence pattern. John and his partner did an outstanding job. The welding seams were very professional. My neighbor is a welder and used to work at a company that fabricates metal gates and fences and he said the workmanship was awesome. BTW, his old company never returned my call and my neighbor said his old company would have charged me more than what I paid for. When I asked John for an estimate, he came out to my house on his way home from a job he was doing that day. He gave me an estimate two days later and started the job 2 weeks later. John is responsive and proactive. He's also able to do work that isn't the usual job. We have an antique 110 year old gate which is solid steel, made by a blacksmith. It's quite heavy. We wanted it mounted onto powder coated posts, attached to the side of the house (which is concrete), with a new latch as the original was rusted and inoperable. They took care of all of this professionally and with detail, making sure to seal off the wall, line up the gates as best as possible given they have minor twisting, and install them so our young child can easily open a several hundred pound gate.
