I recently had the misfortune of having two sets of car keys stolen, along with identifying information hat would allow the thieves to locate my home if they were so inclined. I was quoted well over €2500 by main dealer franchises at BMW and Mercedes to fit new locksets, replace the stolen key fobs and recode the electronic keys. I was able to get the existing locks recoded, new key fobs (which were completely OEM specification) and electronic keys recoded for €950. Now I'm not happy at having to shell that out but I'm way less unhappy than if I had to spend 2.5x as much. I dealt with Bernie throughout and had her email and mobile. She communicated well throughout. I made a mistake in the timing/scheduling myself but overall the process was about as pain free as it could have been. I was worried that the work would be done to something less than factory standard. I had no need to be concerned. All the keys work great and I was very happy with the workmanship. Their resources in the shop are impressive. We had a glitch where the key for the Merc wouldn't fit into the fob so I had to wait a couple of days while they ordered in another format of key. That was undesirable but an honest mistake effectively and courteously dealt with. read more

DEREK R my 2007 citroen c3 wouldnt accept new injector code, found out ECU had water / corrosion on ECU pins, and missing pin,.brought the ECU unit here to Autokey Newlands X spoke to Luke who took it in, cleaned up pins and replaced pins on ECU as well.. in superfast time!. considering the heart attack hearing the ECU was gone and its highly expensive to replace an ECU!!,.these guys saved me time and money and repaired it at a very reasonable price. Very poor service, not willing to stand over their product. Bought a 07 BMW privately, seller purchased a replacement key from Autokey as part of the deal and left me with the job card/collection docket but not the receipt. Four weeks later the key stopped working, Autokey not interested in looking at the key without a further payment of €100 as receipt not in my possession. Shop signs state warranty limit is 3 months which is not listed on their website. Additionally, for the four weeks the key actually worked, it was not to the standard of the original key as the indicators did not flash on lock/unlock. read more

Like John D. I would like to give Autokey no stars. (Firstly, they are no longer on Naas Road but the other side of the Red Cow junction.) What should have taken 30-40 minutes to find them, as a result of bad directions from 4 different people it ended up taking 2 hours (on one of the hottest days in Ireland). Eoin/Rowen was absolutely no help. He totally confused me and I'm suspicious that he hung up on me too (though I innocenly assumed that we possibly got cut off). When I finally got there using google maps I found their attitude strange but what really bothered me is that they moved my car without asking or letting me know. At that point I was so stressed out after repeatedly driving around one of the busiest and confusing junctions in Dublin for two hours (and I also had to face getting back to the city centre in heavy rush hour traffic, another hour in the hot car) that I wasn't sure if that was the way I parked it. Looking back later I know exactly which way I parked it which was not the way I found it. I would say approach Autokey with caution. read more

With the only key for my car broken I googled somewhere to fix it. Autokey came up so I gave them a quick call. They were so helpful on the phone that I asked could I come straight over (it's about 45mins from me) and she said yes, they could fix it there and then and would do it as soon as I needed because I was stuck (the car wouldn't lock). I arrived and met Rosie who explained exactly what would happen, how long it would take (20mins because it was an easy fix) and how much it would be. As I was waiting I asked about all the keys on the wall. I was under the impression (from my service dealer) that only the dealership could replace lost keys. Jason (at the front desk) told me that no, they could do it and not only that but could do it straight away. As I had priced it before I said no because of the cost and time. He told me it was almost €200 euro cheaper than the dealer had quoted me and again, could be done in 20mins. I left Autokey 45 mins later with 2 perfect keys and am absolutely delighted. As I told Rosie, I'm so pleased with myself for finding them, I almost wish someone I know loses their key so I can share my knowledge!! Thanks again Rosie and Jason! read more
