(this is review for the cafe inside the autogrill s.p.a.)
our tour bus stopped here for a morning snack + restroom break. i didn't even bother to visit the restroom since the line for the women's was wrapped around the building. apparently every tour bus on this stretch of highway must stop here. we did pick-up the best gas station coffee we've ever had: inside the cafe, the barista makes each order of coffee from scratch using a 'saeco gran crema' industrial size espresso machine. i had 'caffe prezioso' (or 'espresso' at 1, 10€) + the husband his cappuccino (1, 40€). along with 2 'brioches farcites' (or apple filled pastry at 1, 10€/ea), we both were happy campers since we had missed breakfast earlier.
apparently, you pay first. get your receipt + give it to the barista. he hands you your coffee in a cup + saucer. you finish your drink standing in the crowded inside ordering area or sit outside in the small unshaded patio. either way, you finish, return your empty cups to the bar's counter + leave. there are no 'take-away' cups here, so be prepared to finish your coffee at the cafe before you head out for your trip. and did i mention, the coffee brand is lavazza, the premiere coffee brand of italy? read more
