AVOID AVOID AVOID I brought my 73 year-old little old lady friend to buy the clean 2006 Range Rover Sport on the lot. She paid full price, cash for it. It was in good shape but it was filthy, inside and out. So JJ agreed to have it detailed and prepared for pickup 3 days later. When we arrived to pickup the vehicle after two hours of fighting traffic from Orange County, JJ said there was a problem and the vehicle wasn't ready for us. (He couldn't tell me before I left and wasted time and money to get there? Of course not, he could care less, and has no concern for others time schedules.) JJ's excuse was the detail guy pushed all the buttons in the center console and messed up the suspension. Is that possible? Autobaun held onto the vehicle for another week - they had it at Land Rover Carlsbad dealer to reset the suspension. I always had to be the one to initiate communication. JJ's usual response: it's my day off, or "my manager isn't in". He finally delivered it, not on a truck, but they had driven it from SD and used up all the fuel in it. It was also delivered filthy, and DAMAGED. The rubber door liner had a massive gaping hole 6 inches long, which wasn't there when we bought the vehicle. JJ refuses to fix the problem even through the Land Rover dealer in Newport Beach has a $269 repair estimate. JJ says "drive it down here and we'll fix it". Yeah right. Just fix it you GD shister. Fing unbelievable. JJ had multiple chances to make this right. Instead he choose to live up to the po$ used car salesman connotation. This place has no integrity and employs people who echo that mindset. My recommendation is to avoid this place and seek your new ride elsewhere. read more

just now i would advise you to not buy from this place. It was a struggle since day 1. A week after we traded in our vehicle we had to come back to resign the contract due to an error. We were also told when we signed the contract that we wouldn't have to make our vehicles monthly payment that was due in a week if we traded it in. The payment came out of our account a week later and when we called to get a refund we kept getting the run around for a couple of weeks. Looking at the contract and calling the lender of the vehicle we traded in, we found out that they didn't pay off the vehicle for the correct amount listed on the contract. So, I'm a honorably discharged Marine and Afghanistan veteran (they say they cater to military members which is what sold me in the end), my old vehicle got ram rodded by a drunk driver my 3rd day of living in San Diego, pretty big set back in the long run, but I had money to purchase a car without a loan so it worked out in terms of looking for vehicles. I'm basically just a regular dude put in a crappy situation. After days upon days of looking for vehicles, I came across Autobahn, which had vehicles in my price range ($13-17k) and found another Lincoln Navigator (my fault for being an idiot and wanting another one of these) on their lot. They had it marked at 15k, a few thousand over KBB but it had nice rims, upgraded speakers, TV's in the headrests, etc. It seemed like a good deal, and there was minor exterior problems, engine looked clean, sounded good, ran well. So, I lowballed them a bit at first, and worked them down to 13.9k, now this is when things get retarded - I gave them $1k to secure the deal, and that night I went home and started looking for other Navi's of the the same year and I FIND THE CAR THEY ARE SELLING FOR 8K!!! Posted 2 weeks earlier!!! I feel really stupid, but I'll continue. So anyway, I called them on it and they insisted that a 3rd party site spams craigslist without knowing actual prices, so after they calmed me down they had me come in and sign a waiver saying I knew that was the case. But, then they started telling me they had a bunch of "work" done to it..... Oh dear Jesus did they take me on a run for my money, the past 3 months I've owned this $14k decoration it has sporadically shut off at lights, turned off while backing up, makes this crazy beeping noise when going certain RPM's and I've had to invest about $1k without addressing those issues. They also put on a show - having the owner come in and pretend to yell at the dealer for selling me the car so cheap. What a bunch of f'ing POS. So, I'll make it clear and basically do a rundown for those who hate reading life learning stories: 1. Don't EVER buy from Autobaun. 2. They enjoy ripping off active military and veterans. 3. They lie. 4. They sell vehicles that might potentially get you killed. 5. They will do or say anything to get you to buy from them. 6. Sleezy ass place. I've been waiting to write this review for a while now. I bought a used Prius from here and it completely died 3 months after buying it. Apparently they reset the error codes and hid the fact that the car needed a catalytic converter. By the time the warning lights came back on it was too late. This place is a rip off. Active-duty military STAY AWAY!!! They have very crappy cars and "Unfortunately" I was/am a victim. Active duty military this company thrives off of ripping us off. They will tell you what you want to hear just to get that Navy Federal/USAA endorsed draft in their hands. If you don't believe me, read the other posts and/or take the car to an independent mechanic. I bought a 2007 BMW from these Clowns in November; they made promises that the car was great and still under BMW warranty. While looking over the car, I noticed an oil leak and a salesman told me that they had just repaired the valve cover gasket and would put it back in the shop to ensure it was taking care. Needless to say it was more than the valve cover gasket that was leaking. I took the car back several times only to hear fast talk and lies. After $2900 of repairs from my independent mechanic the car is in decent shape but is not near worth the $20,000 I paid for it. Ashanti (the owner/manager) and the old guy will make the deal sound sweet but don't trust them. 5 of 6 of their cars are crap!!! This has been the best car buying experience I have ever had. I walked in an hour before closing, knowing the car i was looking for from an ad on craigslist. When i found it, my sweet little vw rabbit with 60K miles, the price tag was a full thousand dollars lower than what was listed! Wow! Brian and Shane gave me great service and had the car pulled out front for a test drive when i came back the next day. There was no pressure, my credit was worked with and they were able to get me in the car for 70 dollars less than my previous payment each month! I purchased the car, signed the papers and drove away happy. And thats when the excellent customer service came into play. The next day i received a call from their financer and he said he had gotten me a lower rate on my interest, which dropped my payment further! They had cut my interest from 8 to 4! And called me! Incredible! The car has one minor issue in the first week and they were more than happy and accomodating when it came to getting the issue fixed. They took it to their garage to disgnose and fix and even gave me some lunch while I waited! This was my experience. I went there because I had a friend who said she had bought a car there without problems. I too bought the car without problems. at a price acceptable to me. Problems began afterwards. They never arranged for me to get license plates, and I had to go to DMV to get them and had many intervening conversations when they told me plates were coming. Multiple mechanical problems developed nearly immediately after buying the car. Hard to believe the dealer knew about none of them if he did a thorough inspection even though it is conceivable. They only gave me one key saying that it is easy for me to get (and pay for) another. Overall it has not been a pleasant experience although they are polite at the dealership. I forgot to update my review here after dealing with something else about the 2011 Nissan rogue. I have since traded my nissan rogue with a new car instead after finding out that the struts and shocks were wearing out and needed attention by the year. There were other parts that have obvious wear and tear. Instead of paying $4k for parts and labor, i decided to say goodbye and trade it in for a new one at an actual dealership. I didn't bother contacting Autobaun because it has already been stressful enough dealing with them and the rogue for quite some time now. To those who actually found success when you did business with them, good on you. But for myself, i will definitely not take myself or anyone back here to look at their lemon lot. Also adding to this update, it showed on the contract that I paid for registration that's over $200. That's basically registration for a whole year. Well, this was pointed out to me and we had a spit back and forth afterwards. They were condescending and argued that they already sent it to me at a certain date that they probably just made out of their heads. The only registration receipt that I got was that it cost about $17 or something that would last for the whole period the car has already been registered through dmv. That just meant they pocketed the rest of the money. But again, luckily someone pointed it out to me and in the end, they reimbursed me. But obviously the time, stress, and money I have spent with these people and the car that I bought from them will never be reimbursed. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone read more

Went to buy a vehicle on fathers day and the sales team helped me pick out a vehicle between a BMW and Mercedes Benz that I had in mind, only had a budget of 12k, after looking at multiple cars they recommended spending a little bit more for a better car, after explaining the difference of condition , model year + mileage, got a great deal on a 2013 c250 Benz + a great rete with a local Credit Union and left satisfied with my purchase, after 28 days my check engine light came on and went back to dealer to see what they can do for me, keep in mind my purchase was as-is and they did offer extended warranty at time of purchase and I declined coverage, never the less the Management team took care of me with a local certified repair shop and fixed the issue the next day, that goes to show you they do care about going above and beyond for Customer Service. read more

I arrived at Autobaun almost two years ago to purchase a used vehicle. I did end up buying here and the salesman "JJ" made a verbal agreement to replace a Toyota symbol on the wheel. The owner gave his blessing to the agreement as well and I left that day with vehicle feeling good about the purchase. I have called them multiple times a month every month for the past two years trying to actually make good on this agreement but they have blown me off at every attempt saying that they "are still trying to find one." Take this as a warning to get any agreements with these gentlemen in writing as they have proven in my case to not be willing to do right by the customer once they have cash in hand. Both of my catalytic converters also failed within a month of the purchase and while this may be chance I would definitely take the vehicle to a another mechanic to get it checked out to be sure. Stay away from this place, it's been 2 months since I traded my car in and they have not made the off Payment to my original bank. Instead, they've made a monthly Payment pretending to be me. I only found out because the bank sent me an email with my next scheduled payment due. When I called the bank to say I traded it in months ago, they informed me it was still under my name. Sometime last November I went into this dealership looking for a reliable car as soon as possible. I traded in my old 93 Buick lesabor for a 500 down payment on a Volkswagen Rabbit that I really liked. We went through the application process with having less then a year residency he said it may be difficult but after a few hours they got me a "loan." I signed papers and drove off the lot happy with a 300 car payment. I waited about a month before i contacted them because i hadn't heard from a bank and kept receiving letters denying my loan. They said everything was fine and with in a few months something should go through. I had already signed a contract with a bank so i was not sure what to expect. Eventually i drove down there asking what the deal was and also inquired about an engine light on. Shane told me everything was fine and the loan was taking a while due to my lack of residency. I told him about the engine light and he said that happens sometimes when cars have been sitting a while. I took it upon myself the next day to take the car to a dealership to see if there was anything wrong with the car. The dealership inspected the car and said it had several items wrong with it 3000 dollars worth in including a leak in the fuel line, it wasn't even safe to drive. I took the car back to shane and he had me follow him to HIS mechanic. His mechanic told me that he didn't time and wouldn't all week to look at the car. I took the car home and called his mechanic several times without any luck. Shane had me come in 4 more times to sign a "New contract" and nothing but letters denying me. (Several months went by so i stopped driving the car) Finally fed up I took the car back and just asked for my down payment to be returned as it stated in the contract i signed originally. He promised to mail me a check and after a month of calling he insisted i pick up a 150 dollar check because "it took a lot of money to detail the vehicle." I took my check and left feeling very upset and frustrated. After depositing the check about a week later my bank called me to tell me the check was denied. I called shane and he told me that they changed banks and if i wanted to a new check i would have to come down and pick up a new one. After 7 months no car and spending extra money on fuel and having nothing to show for it i would say this is about the worse experience one person can have. I have to say that this was probably the best experience I had buying a car. Eddie was the guy I initially talked with but once I got a chance to work with Amir, he made the experience far better. They did what they could to ensure that I got a great deal on the car I was looking at. They were very professional and didn't place a lot of pressure on me as a customer like I got from most dealerships. Even the friend I brought along with me said they even surpassed his expectations from a dealership to the point he is considering buying his next ride here when he is ready. I normally dont go out of my way to write a review but they deserved this one and considering their treatment of me, I felt it would be bad karma on my part not to return the favor. Especially since Amir went out of his way to take care of an issue on the car even after I left the lot in which case was no longer his responsibility as cars are sold as is unless you buy an extended warranty. Also, after they took my old car as a trade in, I was getting phone calls from my old car dealership for a payment because they still didn't pay off the car! I can only reinforce the previous reviews. I had the most unprofessional and unbelievable experience here. The car they tried to sell me had a cracked water pump, despite having been "checked by our mechanic". There was antifreeze dripping on the ground, that they must have know about and cleaned up - after 1/2 hr. of sitting still at a mechanic (that I paid for separately), there was about a cup full. After bringing the car back, they told me it was only a $120 fix (despite having no idea of how they would be able to get to the pump without moving the engine) and that they would fix it. The DVD player also did not work that they "had no idea" about. These guys make your stereotypical used car salesmen look like angels. read more

DO NOT TRUST AUTOBAUN, this car dealership is not a good place to do business. They sold me a Mini Cooper with 49,000 miles that had been poorly maintained. Although they claimed the car was in excellent condition and fully inspected, it broke down within 3,000 miles of my purchase and the turbo blew out. Mini of San Diego informed me that the car had pre-existing problems and sludge buildup in the engine from poor maintenance. The extended warranty that Autobaun sold me on the vehicle denied my claim 3 times before finally agreeing to pay a portion of the $3400 repair bill. I'm left with an additional $1000 out of pocket to repair a car that I purchased 3 months ago!!! Lastly, the warranty they sold me was not the one that was promised during the sales process, they did a bait and switch to a lower quality warranty plan. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE! They are slimy, lying people that sell disguised beat up cars and trucks. My boyfriend bought a truck from these people and less then a week later it started falling apart. We assume that they bought the truck from a junk yard that was previously in a crash and they just fixed it up with glue. The bumper was glued on, one of the shock mounts was welded back together in the shittiest way possible, the transmission needed to be replaced, the brakes needed to be replaced, and the steering linkage will need to be replaced. The tuck was given to him almost on an empty tank and they only let him take a test drive around the block because there was so little gas. They assured him they would fill up the truck if he bought it. Once he signed the paper, they refused to fill it up and said they weren't "responsible" for filling it up. They make their cars look and run great for a test drive but after about a week it starts falling apart. Do not buy from these people or you will get scammed for an overpriced car. read more

I bought a 2004 Ford Ranger from Autobaun and after a couple days noticed a few minor necessary repairs. Without questions they told me to bring the Ranger back in, and they even gave me a loaner while they made the repairs at no cost. So I feel that I need to share my horrible personal experience after I purchased a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Cla250 in Autobahn. When I pay for my car, I asked "Is those all I need to pay for the car?" They answered "yes". Me: "so the money that I pay today is for the car, title, license, tax, dealer's fees?" they answered "yes". However, after one month that I pay off my car, I got a call from this store. They asked me to pick up my title and go to DMV to pay the license fees. Obviously, They tricked me to pay extra money by using the fact that I am an International student who don't have too many friends in U.S. and don't speak english very well.
