Lousy customer service rarely surprises me these days. Having a job in retail might have meant customer service was important at one time. I'm told that hired help is so hard to find that the only apparent job skill needed is a pulse. I don't actually believe that. But so often I'm finding it to be the only trait I can identify when I'm face to face with many of the front line workers on any given day. This afternoon I entered the auto parts store. One of countless that I've navigated during my life's numerous car issues since 1984 id say. Back as a teenager I wasn't qualified to work at such a place because I was uncomfortable in any position dealing with strangers. Not exactly shy, but not skilled in opening a conversation with strangers. I was good with mechanical stuff and could perform many basic maintenance needs for motorized as well as pedal powered machines. But because I only had a pulse at that time, I wasn't ready to enter the work force for the far distant future of the 21st century job market. Fast forward to 2021. I'm old by the standards of the millennials, old by my standards as I viewed anyone over 30 once upon a time. The 4 young men today at Auto Zone were all up at the front counter, one was at the cash wrap ringing up a paying customer. Two were standing, and talking about something, not busy nor were they completely doing anything of concern. Number four was aware that I was looking for something after I already looked for it and failing to locate it, returned to the front to ask. If you've ever been to any auto parts store in America, the way it works is you A) Go straight to the aisle and track it down yourself. B) Go to the area (for example air, oil, or fuel filters) where they are shelved and you'll see a couple paperback catalogs hanging from a cable or similar. You locate the make model and year of the vehicle you are working on and after learning this method (it's like learning the Dewey decimal system in the library, except the librarian isn't there to teach you, so generally a store employee might show you or, in my case dad did) you find the code and search among the secret number code scheme embedded into this mysterious car repair coven. C) You go to the counter and one of the presumably trained employees does (B) for you, or they use the modem computer system right up on the counter and go fetch your part from the cavernous warehouse behind the door. Today's MENSA applicant did a bit of B and C. He looked up the code on the computer. HE DID THIS BECAUSE THIS STORE DOESN'T Apparently have the catalog. In fact this shitty store only stocks ONE brand of filters period. STP. So he looks up the code, writes it down and hands it to me. At first I walked towards the wall of filters. I KNOW this f'n system. I KNOW how to read the catalog and how to find the parts. I KNOW how to do his job, but I'm NOT going to do it. In the case of auto parts stores not having these catalogs, it's standard practice to look up these scary coded numbers and then GO FETCH the parts for the paying customer. My main store always does this. Often when they're busy I'll happily go get the parts myself, I LIKE the fact that I'm one of the customers that can in fact DIY with absolute confidence AND COMPETENCE, hold my own in their sort of secret club. But when I go into a bozo outfit that employs dimwits that are both INCOMPETENT as well as LAZY, I am not so forgiving. Terrible customer service. I MIGHT be out of line in this review. But I don't believe I am. The manager of that store needs to know that the workers that are lazy should be working at his competitors store, not his. I didn't buy the filter at this store. I'll likely not return to this store. Good customer service brings repeat customers, lousy service brings words such as these. read more

I had a defective duralast gold battery with no receipt. And the nice people of autozone were good enough to cover it under warranty. Love the service and them standing behind their product. read more

They helped me change my gen 2 Prius 12v battery in the cold. It's a pain to change because you have to really dig into the back of the car, and they were cheerful and quick with the switch. Great service! read more

The only reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one is because they were helpful in finding me an auto mechanic shop that I can trust. I called today to ask what the shops name was again because it has been awhile since I had to get a repair done. I am completely aware that sometimes I speak fast, but when you work in customer service you do not point out the shortcomings of your customers. Ever. That is completely rude. Furthermore when he asked me what I needed because he couldn't understand how fast I was speaking he said "there! Did you understand that?" And laughed hysterically. Mister I just called to get the name of a shop you recommend. Don't be a dick. I will gladly go somewhere else if I need someone to provide car parts for me. read more

Had a break light go out. Jess replaced it for us right there since we didn't have the tools for it. He was so nice and very helpful!!

While traveling this weekend, my boyfriend and I realized his driver's side tail light was out. The bulb was easy to get to, so he decided to just take care of the repair himself. When we returned to town we swung on over to Auto Zone to pick up a replacement. The store is pretty densely packed, but we were able to just hop in line at the register, tell the clerk what kind of car my boyfriend drives, and the clerk walked him over to the bulbs and grabbed exactly what he needed. My boyfriend was able to then walk back to the register and pay. Super easy and we were in and out in under five minutes. As someone who knows basically nothing about cars it's good to know I can come in and get someone to help me find exactly what I need. read more

I always end up fixing whatever part of my car happens to be busted - headlights, tail lights, brake lights, etc. etc. etc. - in one of the four parking spots in front of the store. Yup, it's a chain. But don't let that fool you! We have had very good luck with them standing by their products and they have consistently offered friendly & knowledgable customer service. The Mister does quite a bit of work on our cars and buys a lot of the parts here. Most of the time things work out well and when they don't, we've had no problem returning parts we don't need / didn't use. We also have had no problem replacing parts, even well over a year later, if they're still under warranty & when the parts didn't do as well as they should have. No hassle! Good stuff. My only wish is that sometimes they had more variety in their parts, meaning more than one price point (I.e., a high qualtity tie-rod or a value-priced tie-rod). Besides selling parts, they've got a few services available too. They will help test and change your battery, no extra charge beyond the battery. And if your car has a light on and you need to connect a code reader to see what the issue is... No need to take it to an auto shop and pay $$, they've got one you can use, also for free. I wasn't sure if my car was having battery, starter, or alternator issues. Jamie ran some tests for me and then replaced my battery in about 20 minutes. He was the most pleasant employee who made great conversation throughout our interaction. After having a tough day of car inconveniences, I was so thankful to encounter someone as knowledgeable, kind, and generous with their time as Jamie. Only giving two stars so it doesn't get erased. I'd give one. I called in for a part. The clerk (Scott) took my call. I don't know what kind of ship they're running but calling me a lady on the phone as some sort of joke is really bizarre. I told them I'm not a woman, thinking it was an honest mistake (because it happened right off the bat with no context). He got really snippy and kept calling me miss and ma'am. I spoke to another employee who joined in like it was middle school. Is it a joke they play when they want customers off the phone, or? Really bizarre and unprofessional. read more

Walked in to Autozone late in the evening on Easter Sunday with a car battery we thought was dead. They tested the battery, confirms it was dead, made reasonable recommendations for a new battery, and helped explained how to install it. Overall they were very helpful and we were happy the were available on Easter Sunday. read more

On 4/14, I visited the Auto Zone on Verona Road to buy a car battery. When the employee was installing it, he knocked the fuses and needed to access the fuse box from under my steering wheel. After he had gotten out of my car, I noticed immediately, my leather driver's seat had a rip in the seat bottom and large scratches on the side. I notified the shift manager, we both took photos of the seat's condition. He went inside the store for a few minutes. He came out and told me he could not get a hold of his boss and he could not make a decision without him. I was to wait for a call the next day. I gave him all of my contact information. I never received call the next day. I called two days after the incident, and was told I would have to wait for a call again. On, 4/20 I called again on my lunch hour. There was no shift manager working at that time. He would be in that afternoon. I did not receive a call later that day, so I called again around 5:30pm. I finally was able to talk to a manager that had information for me. The manager verbally told me they were willing to pay for half the cost of the repair for my leather seat that their employee damaged. I asked them to send me an email or letter in the mail in writing so I could make a decision on what I wanted to do from there. I gave them my information. Today is 5/1, and I still have received nothing from them. Auto Zone on Verona Rd is not willing to make this situation right. I would not let them touch your vehicle under any circumstance. read more

I went to purchase a headlight for my car. I have no idea how to put it in and after looking at the instructions in the book, I don't understand with the whole cover thing on the front The car and don't want to take anything apart I shouldn't, because I don't know anything about this. I asked the sales rep if he could help install it, and he said no. He said they usually do but they were shortstaffed. And that it was usually a courtesy thing anyway. So I guess he doesn't want to be courteous and the manager of the store doesn't want his staff to be either or give good customer service. I've never been to an AutoZone that didn't help me. read more

For the do-it-yourselfer, or (aspiring do-it-yourselfer, like me) this place is a gold-mine. It's all about the staff and the crew at this store is eccellent. They have talked me through may repairs and helped me get set with the right parts. I find AutoZone parts to be reasonably priced and good quality. read more

The manager at AutoZone was helpful and friendly. He quickly found the headlight my car needed and installed it for me, even though it was cold outside. The light was affordable, and there was no charge for installation. I will certainly be going back! read more
