MY Personal Experience with AAMCO Franchise Transmission Experts…read more Unacceptable Service and Multiple Attempts. I am deeply disappointed with the service I received from AAMCO Transmissions. While traveling to Florida, my vehicle developed a transmission vibration, and I brought it to a local AAMCO branch for repair. They kept my vehicle for 6 days and charged me above-average price for a full transmission rebuild. Unfortunately, during my return trip to New Jersey, the vehicle began experiencing shifting issues a problem that did not exist before they service it. Upon arriving home, I took the vehicle to my local AAMCO center to resolve this issue, under their nationwide warranty. They kept the vehicle for 23 days, yet it was returned to me with the same shifting problem. I immediately brought it back a third time, and they have now had my vehicle for an additional 28 days. AAMCO heavily advertises that they have highly experienced, certified technicians. However, requiring three separate attempts and nearly two months of shop time to again rebuild a transmission after charging a premium fee of $5,100 is completely unacceptable. It appears that instead of performing a proper rebuild, they attempted to do the cheapest possible patched job. If you're out of state stay away from Amoco. I strongly advise anyone considering transmission work to think twice before using an AAMCO franchise locations. AAMCO customer service is useless.

I ended up changing the transmission cooler because I noticed it only struggled to get in gear when hot. Anyways two years later same Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same trans and it shifts perfect and is still going. Maybe it was an honest mistake, what annoys me more is they performed a trans service without my permission, and when they did they striped 3 of the bolts on the pan, I am sure they used an impact gun. The pan leaks now. I don't live in NJ anymore, but I know the shop as it has been there for years. I just wanted to take the time out to write this as I thought it could be useful to others looking to get a diagnosis.

It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving- so naturally the place was hopping when I drove it in. I was a little apprehensive that it might be repaired in time for the holiday -when we would need the car for our trip to Sussex. Knowing that Brad would most probably have to diagnose, source parts and do the repairs might possibly change our travel plans. Nope. Brad was able to get the repairs completely done... he took the time to discuss prior to ordering - and post repairs. Showed me the worn front end suspension linkage And aligned the car within specs. Very very happy. Car doesn't "klunk" when hitting small pot holes etc. All in all a great experience....Laura is awesome too. John D. in Verona.
