I'm a bit surprised at some of the comments embedded within these less favorable reviews. I have a '73 Mercedes 450 SL (been in our family since it was new) that Imported Car Center maintains. If you are familiar with them, you'll appreciate that, for their time, these cars are relatively complex. In all sincerity, Arlo's shop is staffed by the only people I've encountered who actually have the expertise to work on the more complicated systems in the car (fuel injection, etc.) - to include Mercedes dealerships (shame on them, by the way - if you're going to brag about your brand's heritage, you should at least invest towards staffing that can work on the classics you've produced). Furthermore, I've yet to experience anything other than a fair shake from ICC on pricing. Early on in my life, I also owned a Jag XKE. I knew a lot about that car, and could do most of my own repairs. I can tell from talking to Arlo and his team that they know their way around vintage Jags as well. This is a review of the service department. If you have a weird or obscure car by Vermont standards this is where you go. I have a 1997 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas that is a joy to drive but I have had many niggling issues with it. Arlo Cota and his team sorted me out in a matter of days. New battery, rear brake rotors and pads, and an electrical gremlin that was keeping the right front headlight from lighting fixed for a total of $1200. That included a fresh new VT safety inspection. Also, the shifter position sensor was getting a little janky and the car sometimes wouldn't start because it didn't know it was in Park. They fixed that. I am looking forward to ICC working on the hydraulic system in my 1987 Rolls. They did me right on my Jag and they'll do me right on my PMC. There are some haters saying Arlo is a shady guy. I disagree. Those people want to drive a distinctive car but get resentful went it costs them more than driving a Camry. I bought one of my first college cars, a 1984 Jetta, from Arlo, and he took good care of me then as he does now. Rob the service writer is also a peach to deal with. Super nice guy. Got a Peugeot? Citroen project? Old fiat? Alfa? Bentley Turbo R? These muhfuhs know what they're looking at. They're the only people in this area who do. If you have an Audi, Subaru, or BMW, I recommend Nate's Automotive in Essex. But if you have something that's weird to others but beloved to you as a regular driver, take it to Arlo and his team. read more

We own a 1981 Porsche Targa SC that we have owned since 1989. Imported car service has taken care of the car for the last ten years or so. The team has been great to work with and the car runs better now than when purchased and serviced by others. read more

If I could give no stars I absolutely would, Arlo is a sleazy used car salesmen in every sense of the word. When were first contacted about the completion of a repair on our recently purchased station wagon we were excited to drive it again, we were even more excited about its warrantee as it had only been a couple weeks since we purchased it. But when we went to pick it up, we received a charge for close to 300 dollars, absolute madness, they denied our warrantee completely with little empathy. It has since been 2 years since we have purchased the car, and we have had nothing but problems. We decided with empty hearts that it was time to let the station wagon go, in one last attempt to keep it we contacted Arlo and asked if the warrantee would cover any repairs. Exactly like last time we received no empathy whatsoever, he was an absolute jerk and refused to listen to any of our questions. He did his best to distance himself from the problem rather than help, and in business customer service should be a top priority. What a shady car place. Better know when your salesman works because they stab each other in the back. There is no respect amongst slimy salesman! Work with one for a week for a car and salesman Mark Guyette sold it out from under us as we were ready to sign on the dotted line. Owner apparently has no control over sales staff.! read more

These guys are out to make a quick buck wherever they can. $48 dollars for a state inspection and we didn't get a sticker. Instead, they gave us a list of repairs they claimed the car needed ($800 worth) before they would inspect it. As we had just bought the car from a mechanic, we were in disbelief. Not only did the mechanic take extremely good care of the car, I'm not as ignorant of cars as the men took me for. We took the car to another mechanic and immediately received an inspection sticker, no questions asked, and for over $30 less! The guys at the Imported Car Center saw a young couple walk in the door and proceeded to reach into our pockets for all thy could grab. Thankfully I know my cars well enough to see what they were trying to do. I sincerely feel bad for anyone else that goes there because they're probably unknowingly overpaying. I've been taking my cars to these folks for about 7 years now and they've always done a great job. Scott and Jason at the desk are always very helpful and make sure that I understand what's going on, how long things are going to take and how much it's going to cost. They know their stuff and I've always had a good experience anytime I've worked with them. This place feels like an old-fashioned neighborhood garage where they remember and take good care of you. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS FACILITY!!!!! I took our 2006 Mercedes Benz SL500 to this shop because our convertible top would not go down. Bret Berglund told me the flap motor cable switch assembly and trunk shocks needed to be replace and the cost would be $1,048.02. We authorized the repair, however, the next day Bret called and said the trim panel was broken and it would cost an additional $625.00 to repair. THIS PART WAS NOT BROKEN PRIOR TO OUR TAKING OUR CAR TO THIS SHOP!!!! We voiced our displeasure and Bret became very hostile and refused to take responsibility. I will be warning all our friends and coworkers at American Airlines about this business. BEWARE!!!! read more

I was purchasing a Porsche Boxster from a guy in Burlington Vermont and brought the car to the Imported Car Store for a pre purchase inspection. I was an out of town buyer so I had the owner bring it in and I was to pay for the inspection. The inspection itself went well and I got a detailed report on the car however the problem came when I was informed by the seller that during the process the mechanic doing the inspection told the owner of the Porsche to talk to the owner "Arlo" as he might want to purchase the car. Arlo then made an offer on the car. Needless to say it was still $500 under my asking price but when I went to negotiate the additional $700 of work the car needed the owner said that it would be easier to deal with Arlo as he is a wholesaler and would take the car as is. At this point the entire deal fell through. When I called Arlo he said that he was completely in his rights to tell the owner what he would pay for the car and that he had done nothing wrong. I personally think that what he did was completely unethical however he stands 100% by his actions, and ended up yelling at me and finally hanging up on me to end the conversation. I'm not saying that they do a good job or bad job, but with unethical practices like trying to purchase a car out from underneath someone who is going to them for a service to purchase the car I would think against going to them for an honest transaction. read more
