I have been coming to Auto Pro for my car needs since I moved to Ferndale in 2010. What I love best about them is that they are honest and fair - Jason, who runs the shop, is always friendly. They also try to get your car in and out as soon as possible, without upcharges. An example: I went in for an oil change at 5:45 yesterday. They close at 6, but still accomodated me. 15 minutes and $12.95 later, I was out the door with freshly changed oil! Can't beat that kind of service! Great customer service will have me returning for my future auto repair and service needs. Heard a weird clunking sound, was freaking out since I work in sales all over the state and depend on my car to make an income. Needed it fixed ASAP. Brought it in just before 4/4:30 pm and asked them to take a look to see how bad the damage was. They said they would look at it tomorrow since it was nearing the end of the business day. Totally understood and left my keys with them to walk home. While I was still on the phone with the insurance adjuster by the CVS next door, he called me to tell me they fixed it. I couldn't believe it. I was so worried about how I was going to be able to rent a car to get to work the next day. It turns out it was a missing nut/bolt (don't know where it could've gone). They replaced it, were super honest and didn't charge me for the lone screw. Whatever that screw would've cost them now has made me a loyal and returning customer. After a week and 3 visits to an auto repair business I was told they can't solve my vehicle problem and I should take it to a dealership. I took the vehicle to Auto Pro on Tuesday at 8:30 am and at 3:00 in the afternoon I was called that my car is repaired. The car was clean inside and I drove it home. I usually go to the dealer to fix my cars, as I get a 20% discount for being a Chrysler employee. However, it usually takes 5 days for them to even diagnose the car before they fix it. So I'm stuck with a rental car fee on top of the parts and repair costs. So when my car was sputtering and the engine light came on, I decided to go Auto Pro, as it is only a mile from my house. I was instantly surprised at how incredible this place is. They said they would have it diagnosed within an hour. I was shocked! The dealer said it would be 6-7 days for just the diagnosis. Sure enough, I received a call with a diagnosis within an hour. They said they could order the part and it would arrive in a 1/2 hour. They could have the part replaced a hour and 1/2 later. I was looking at perhaps a TWO WEEK period with no car, and Auto Pro had it done in a few HOURS. And at a GREAT PRICE. What can I say? Honestly, I will never go anyplace else for my car needs. I highly recommend this place. Anybody that knows me, knows I am a glass is half empty type of guy. I'm a pessimist. So for me to leave such a positive review is out of the ordinary. Auto Service Bro should be on the Hall of Shame. If I hadn't been spending time getting advice from a lawyer, LARA & BBB, I would have contacted them also. If this is too long, PLEASE Look at the hidden reviews & the profiles of their positive reviews!! I wish I did! 1/2 are fake reviews written by owner's son Calvin & their employees and the other are hidden bc the people got yelp only to warn others of how terrible this place is. I understand the convenience of the location but please take the time to go ANYWHERE ELSE. They are The Most Dishonest, crooked & just rotten people I've ever had to deal with. Long Story short, I got talked into an excessive amount of work to my mechanic grandpa's cherry Lincoln. Upon picking it up, they warned me of an engine noise or "spark knock" they heard test driving it & that "it *is not safe to drive over 45, as it could blow the engine." I had No Noises, NO Performance issues and the check engine light has NEVER COME ON. EVER. *I now have written documentation from Varsity Lincoln (where my gramps took it it's entire life) that the engine is not in disrepair & that the car is in great shape. So, freaked out that I'm going to blow up my good as new car that I just put $3G into, I bring it back the next day to replace the timing belt and see how "damaged the engine" is. They tell me that it's off a degree and that they will literally Not Touch the car (refuse to continue service) unless I get a new engine. The following is a list of things that happened after we asked that the car be put back together so that we can take it to the dealership for a 2nd opinion. -They told us if we didn't get a new motor (mine had 60k) that they'll "be more than happy to push the car off our property & can come pick up my engine in a box." -I had to contact a lawyer bc they we're refusing to put the car back together unless I got a new engine. -They had my car for a month -They hung up the phone on us whenever we challenged the suspicious work they insisted needing doing. -They stormed out of the room, slamming the door when we asked questions. -Screamed expletives at us. -Wouldn't answer the phone when we called. -Had to pay for a $1000 pump they broke putting the car back together, which never would have been broken if they didn't pretend I needed engine work. -Put old stripped bolts on, yet told us they we're being replaced as listed on a service sheet. I had to pay $250 to replace what Varsity Lincoln told us should be reimbursed by Auto Bro. -Charged us various things to put the car back together that was naturally aged but that wouldn't need to be replaced if it hadn't been torn apart. -Told us to "Get the F#$% out of here" when we brought in the service record from Lincoln siting the old mismatching threaded bolts put on by them & that we wanted to be reimbursed. -Got oil all over my floor mats. -Didn't recharge the AC that was drained taking the motor apart. -Didn't install the ENGINE FAN & THE CAR STARTED OVER HEATING a half mile down the road. I'm sure Calvin will write a response belittling my husband and I in an effort to discredit us. But, we're honest, good people who would never treat anyone the way we we're treated there or wish that nightmare on anyone. Hopefully this overshadows the obviously phony reviews they've made themselves in an effort to cover their tracks. read more

I will never use this place for anything ever again. 3 weeks to have someone's car is ridiculous. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Wish I would have listened and took my car to the dealer. I would already have it back. I wish I would have taken time to read reviews on this place before trusting them with such a large job. Calvin and his family give themselves 5 star reviews to mask their business practices. If they had 75-100k customers in their database and gave such incredible service then they would have better reviews. People that have a great experience write about it. People that have a bad experience write about it and tell 10 people. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE travels a lot faster than good. I would not trust this place for anything more than tires. This is a tire place, not a mechanic shop! Take your car to an expert. Would you let a general doctor perform a surgery on you? No. Don't let tire pro's try to fix a big problem on your car. Edit: I tried to go back and give them a chance and they would not serve me due to this review. Even told him I would delete this review to make nice. Clearly customer service is not a priority at this place! I took my car to tire outlet in Madison heights and I got amazing customer service! Worth an extra 10 minute drive to get good service! Instead of refusing service to someone-maybe try to explain to the customer the situation rather than refuse service. The reason I came back is because you are conveniently located and I needed a TIRE checked that I bought from you after my botched car job. (Wasn't refused service then) Now I will stick to my review and never come to your shop again. This is one of the best places to take your vehicle for repairs. I took my ram 1500 for new tires and brake pads, rotors, and calipers. They had the best prices in town. Every place I went to wanted double the amount. Calvin was a man of his word and he really took care of me. I've been in Ferndale for a little over 6 years now and anytime I've had a car or tire issue I've taken it to these guys. This crew is 100% professional. Service has always been quick, clean, and done right. They have even helped to make sure that I'm not over paying on parts. I'm writing this now because I had a pretty important meeting out of state and my cars thermostat, belt, and bunch of other thing just fell apart. I got there first thing in the morning and as per usual they were so helpful and did everything they could to get me on the road on time and without costing me an arm and a leg. I took my 2007 PT Cruiser to them in December. I had checked with my own diagnostic computer and it said there was a camshaft issue. I relayed this information to them, but I was told that no, I needed a new fuel pump. Cost me $530. I trusted them because I thought they would know better than I would. Now, a month later, my car is having the exact same issue and NOW they say it's the camshaft. Cost me $259. It was the camshaft the whole damn time!! A repair that should have cost $259 has now cost me $789. DON'T BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE. When I told them that I found this whole thing suspicious, they just blew me off. I will be reporting them to BBB. If anyone at this business would like to make this right, as far as I'm concerned I am owed a refund of $530. My invoice numbers are: 7611 and 8100. read more

Keith hooked me up. Got me in 45 minutes before close for a brake inspection, and arranged for a rental car for me for the next day. Then he came back in and said no we're going to get this taken care of tonight. Not only did he not try to sell me anything I didn't need, he went out of his way to not sell me what I thought I needed. So got me new rotors and pads delivered and installed within 30 minutes, and at a very good price. Amazing service. Would recommend them to anyone. I've never left a yelp review before but felt I should because it was so above and beyond what would be expected. read more

1 star is too many for this sorry excuse of a company. After getting a "full inspection" on my car I got nearly $1000 worth of work done. I was excited that they offer financing options but as soon as I couldn't start my car when I was trying to leave the parking lot, I regretted every second of this decision. Once home after several attempts to start the car, I noticed 2 of the 4 brand new tires were nearly flat. When I took the car back to the shop the mechanic told me it must have been my fault. After much debate, they replaced the parts they said it needed but it did not fix the problem. Because of this, I took my car to a different mechanic who told me the tie rods were replaced with used parts, the brakes weren't done, and my alignment was bad. On top of all this, Auto Pro missed MAJOR issues in their so-called inspection that ended up costing me an additional $800 in repair. My car was in worse condition than when I took it in and I am stuck paying for a service that wasn't even done. They are rude, and extremely unorganized. They fudge the documents they sent to the financing company and I have filed an official complaint with them as well. I will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else. read more

If I could give this place negative 10 stars, I would. At the end of our story the owner's son, Calvin, threatens to "BEAT MY A@$" if he ever sees me on the street. This is a long review, but I feel it's my civic duty to warn all potential customers to STAY AWAY FROM AUTOPRO!!! This all started when I was quoted $1,100 by Calvin at Autopro for an AC repair. After 2 WEEKS I was told my car was "finished". While driving home I noticed that my navigation wasn't working and every alert light on my dashboard was lit up. Those all worked fine before Autopro got their hands on my vehicle. I took it back to them immediately and told them to fix what they had damaged. They apologized and agreed to fix what they messed up. Another week later they called to tell me they couldn't fix my car and they were taking it to the Buick dealership to finish the job. After Buick fixed what Autopro botched up, they refused to pay the $830 bill. Calvin and Keith's (father & son owners) only excuse for skirting the bill was that "this was a $4,000 repair they did for $1,100 and I should be thanking them". They then lied to my face and told me the service writer at Buick told them it was $4,000 for that repair. I asked that same Buick service writer for a quote for the exact same repair Autopro tried to do, his quote was $1,567. The Buick guy also said "these guys are nuts" and he never told them $4,000. While arguing with Autopro over who was responsible for the $830 Buick bill, Keith told me I was banned from his store and Calvin screamed at me that he would "BEAT MY A@$" the next time he sees me on the street.
