They told me the pcm was not working. Their estimate was more than the value of the car. The same day I went to a different mechanic for a a second opinion. I stayed there because I wanted to see. They found out the gas cap was not closing. Then they open the trunk and found the gas valve unplugged. We were all shocked. They put it back in and the car is working fine now. The Vrooom guy told me they left the valve unplugged so it wouldn't cause any further issues. Scam!

They won't try to up-sell you on work that you don't need done, and if they are troubleshooting a problem, then will start small and inexpensively to try to solve the problem before they try more expensive repairs. We had them repair the faulty turn signal switch in our minivan, and when they finished it up and we got it back, the airbag dash light was on all the time. So I called them back, they apologized and checked it out, found they installed a faulty part, and they replaced it and did the labor for free. That's quality and honesty right there! I was charged roughly 6 dollars to refill the fluids in my car (washer fluid mostly). They asked "would you like the fluids filled"... which sounded pleasant, and I had never before and never since found a place that charged for washer fluid. I didn't think to ask about charges or I would have declined. My hood latch on my older car stopped latching just after (I'm guessing it did it in the shop, but I'm not entirely sure). I brought it back, they oiled it up free of charge. Maybe I'm spoiled by all the other awesome mechanics I've had... but this is something they should have done without me bringing it back. It took 2 minutes. My oil was sparkly and my engine was happy, but I didn't get any sort of "thanks for your money, please join us again, we have your car's back" feeling.
