Charged me $850 for an autozone clutch, took 7 weeks to do a 2 day clutch job. Broke a sensor which gave me 2 check engine lights and made my car die, then charged me $150 extra to fix it. Left my exhaust hanging. Let my car run out of gas which clogged my fuel filter, left my wheels loose. Car failed a week after I got it back and they didn't want to look at it. Kept raising prices on me from initial quote to two labor price raises and didn't ever give me an itemized invoice to sign before they started the work. The shop used to be my go to and I've been going there for years, my family has been going there for decades, but it's just not what it used to be anymore. Total I got charged $2000 for a clutch that other shops charged $1300 for. It was very unfortunate, I hope others make better choices when picking a shop to visit. read more

Thank you to my dad for finding this place in my time if need, my transmission gave out and it was hard to find a place that was reasonable enough to get it done but this place, took great care of my car, I got a new transmission for my car and I think the price was pretty good value compared to other places I had called, they were very professional and my car is working great again, I am so grateful for them taking such good care my Honda civic with its hassle of the CVT transmission, highly recommend them. read more

I really wanted to leave a good review based on previous comments, but I wouldn't say my experience has been the best. I was originally told 2-3 business days for service to be completed, dropped off Monday(dec 9) for vehicle to be started on Thursday. I picked up Friday afternoon and on my way home to San Diego I hear a grinding noise. Called Andre first thing Monday (dec 16)he said bring it in ASAP, couldn't go Monday so I told him I'll most likely bring it in Tuesday. Drove all the way back to La puente for Bob to tell me they can't fit me in until after the holidays. I understand you are busy but it would have been nice for Andre to tell me this before driving back out to them. (Time and gas wasted!) I bring the truck in on the 26th and it was inspected today for them to tell me they have to charge me to take out the transmission again to replace the flexplate. I had no issues with the flexplate prior to them installing the torque converter and now I need to pay double. Torque converter was either not seated correctly or bolts not tightened properly. read more

This shop does not do any kind of quality work . If you have a classic car don't go here you will regret it . They didn't warranty the shady work they did . Backyard fix for the shift linkage made from spare parts an badly welded together , didn't use the rite hardware for the job . Explained to them that there was a huge puddle of transmission fluid under the car . Told us that it was a steering box that was making all that mess . When I picked the car up they had wiped all the transmission fluid off the transmission, but by the time I was home it was covered in fluid again , car still don't shift rite , never did they check the transmission fluid cause it was low . When I confronted this shady so called mechanic about all this he became very verbal with me which I expected from a person like this . All I can confirm is that this spot is lazy an incompetent. I have been in the automotive industry building custom cars an restoring for over 30 years . When I see a place like this I have to speak up so others don't have to deal with extremely poor service an even worse work . read more

I have been taking my car to Bob & Andre since I was referred by a friend back in March 2017 and have been bring back ever since for repairs or basic services and every time I visit they do an exceptional job. They are the most professional, honest, and most importantly fair priced repair shop. Most recently I came in due to a damaged Cam Sensor and after they completed the job took the car for a test drive and identified a problem with the front hub bearings which I not only had forgotten to mention but I had become numb to the sound. Disappointed with this place. Took one car in for a basic service...no problems, everything went fine. So I took my second car in(2009 Cobalt) which was having some actual transmission problems. Gears slipping,etc. After almost three weeks, they still could not diagnose the problem. Manager offered to replace whole transmission for $2000, but would not gauratee that it would fix problem...huh? What's even worse was that they failed to let me know that the $300+ they charge to break the transmission down, does not include putting it back together. Manager stated that I would get it back in a box...wow. They claim 50 years of experience. read more

By far, the best shop I have ever been to. I am so happy I found Auto Man Transmissions! They really care for the customers and aren't some huge money guzzling establishment! A friend of mine (i referred) took their vehicle from the Covina Valley Kia, who wanted to charge a little over $1000, to Auto Man and literally saved hundreds of dollars (more than $800) . You never want to be a "regular" at an auto repair shop, so it's good to say I've only been here 3 times and even better to say with 3 different vehicles and haven't had to return yet. Andre is a straight shooter and will work with whatever your situation is. They say Transmissions BUT are a full service shop and will take care of whatever you need done. I needed a water pump replaced with cost in mind and not wanting to void warranty Andre worked with me and made it happen. They also let me drop my vehicle off the night before after they closed since it was already on the tow truck and I would have to "re-tow" the next day. Good people, fair prices. read more

Friend took his car here for some routine maintenance. The staff performed (and charged for) non requested service. As a result, my friend's car was disabled. When he returned to them they indicated they would fix their mistake for free. Instead they not only charged an insane amount of money but also bungled the second repair job. Here is a brief summary of what I have had worked on here: 1941 Dodge- Brakes, transmission (replaced), rear differential 1948 Lincoln- Brakes, transmission (replaced) 1966 Mustang- odds and ends through the years 1978 Lincoln Mark V- Brakes, a/c and a few other odds and ends 1988 Corsica- Rack and pinion, A/C, brakes 1989 Buick Reatta- Rebuilt Transmission, A/C Service, Brakes, Radiator 1989 Buick Park Avenue: Radiator, trans. serviced, etc. 1991 Buick Lesabre- A/C, brakes, strut mount and other odds and ends 2004 Malibu- Alternator, thermostat, hoses, window regulator, etc. (my grandmother's car and they treated her well, she is 84) 2008 Toyota 4 runner- Brakes My friends have brought their cars in as well and for the most part (with the exception of one experience) had everything fixed on time and with the desired result. Over the years I had only one issue and that was when I took my Mark V in for A/C a few years ago and it took a bit too long, but, it is not my daily driver. That is with nearly 9 years and dozens of experiences with this shop. This shop is ALWAYS busy and has a good reputation in the community. They are good on prices and let you know everything up front. If they can't fix something they will let you know, and they are VERY reasonable. Oh and I have to drive a half hour to get to them, but, I prefer their service hands down (and I have been to many mechanics). Just got my 08 Jeep Patriot back, it was making some crazy new sounds and I didn't want to get screwed over by the dealership. The team at Automan figured out the problems and stayed within their quote to repair of my power steering and ended up having to change my alternator as well. Great Service!!!!! My entire family has been going to Bob for years. My son is a full time student with a 1998 Camaro has been very happy with the service and the reasonable prices. My daughter has 2007 PT cruiser. We had an ongoing issue with the car turning off and inter light going crazy. We took it to the dealer to electric specialist and no one could resolve the issue. Bob's team took the extra time and patience to look over the car, took a few time never charged until found the issue, but found the issue. Just because your young you think the older generation wouldn't screw you over right not true jack up the car and had to have it fixed by a real mechanic my engine was fine when I took it there now it dose not want to stay on come to find out the transition still don't work and they said they test drove it how..?? When I took it to another mechaniche said right off the bat they must have pinched the wire fixed the wire now it works great after 300 dollars to fix it and when I just paid auto man alot of money ..they said I brought the car in not working right.
