After I had gotten 2 quotes from other local autobody repair shops of $1,700 and $1,200, I thought it was worth getting another quote. Not only could Detailz do it sooner and faster it cost less than $500!!! It looks amazing! I think the big repair shops don't want the little jobs. Not only do we eat in our vehicle, my little girl had quite the play-doh collection in the back seat, between the seats and on the floor. We dropped our SUV off in the morning and at lunch came to pick it up. I was in SHOCK...it was in new condition again! During the walk around with 2 employees, we noticed some minor dirt. His team got to deal with my ten-year-old minivan that has transported my family and multiple dogs over the years. The dog hair was the biggest problem; there was more hair than carpet. He estimated three hours, but he stuck with it and it took him over five. The van looked AMAZING. I actually found myself tapping the snow off my boots again before getting in which I hadn't done since it was new. No qualms anywhere about giving Nik the highest rating.

OK, so I got a bit of a bumper scrape on my car, looks like someone backed out a little close, and scraped the paint. Just a little too deep to "buff" out. When I took it to Renu, the fellow I talked to gave me an honest quote, and his honest opinion. Being that we could fix it, but the bumper is plastic, so it wont rust, and given that my car has hail damage, fixing the paint on the bumper won't add much value, so it's just a matter of what I can live with cosmetically... Honest, and fair advice! Incidentally, I got a scratch repair kit and wax, and it is 70% better, so I suppose I won't bother fixing it, but I am super glad for their honest advice! It would have been easy enough to just take my money, but they chose to be good business citizens, and for that I am grateful! FYI, I did get a repair quote that was 10%, and 25% lower than the other two quotes I got, and the service was much friendlier, so I know where I'm headed if I decide to fix this anyway- or if any other scrapes pop up.

I've been detailing my vehicles myself for years, but with a busier work/life schedule it's been harder to do on a regular basis, so this time around I sought out a professional detailer. I came across a lot of detailers with a long list of positive reviews and a solid reputation, but their services were priced a bit more than I could justify over just doing it myself again. Then finally I came across "The Wax Shop" on a car forum I sometimes visit. There were only a handful of reviews I found on the internet, but they were all positive. What really attracted me was how affordable their services were compared to other professional detailers, almost seemed too good to be true. So I booked my appointment expecting just a reasonable job given the lower prices. They were able to book me in just a couple days after my call, they're located in the NE just off Barlow and Memorial, a very doable walk to/from the LRT so this worked well for me. The owner was very nice, so first impression was good! Upon picking up the car it was ready on time as promised. I was very impressed with the job they did, it was definitely above what I expected and great value! It looked as good as new, some parts even better than when I bought it lol. They even went as far to do a couple bonus items for me just because they felt like it was necessary given the state I had let the interior degrade to. Honestly I was pretty excited to bring by car here after reading the reviews but the experience…read moreleft a lot to be desired. I had my Mustang detailed as I'm trying to sell it. The last time I had it detailed(at a different shop) they did a terrible job with the spray wax leaving a white film in numerous places all over the car which ended up looking almost like body damage. I brought it here as they are rated #1 on here and have very affordable prices, but when they returned my car to me, the exterior was still atrociously dirty. They then tried to divert by telling me how good of a job they did on the interior, which in my honest opinion needed to be vacuumed and it would have been fine. I drive this car maybe 5000km/year and only in the summer so it's not like it was that bad to begin with. After doing a walk around the car I asked the cleaner how they clean it? with a pressure washer or how so. He responded by telling me that they take the time to hand wash every inch of it, spray it down, and then spray it with wax to get it to dry nicely. I began to walk around the car and rub off the scuffs and wax that were on it before I brought it in, and told him I was really not impressed. He then went around with his towel and hit as many spots as he could before he told me that was as good as it gets. I asked the guy if they were able to bend their knees in the shop, as everything on the bottom foot or so of the car was completely untouched. The car took 2.5 hours or so to clean and the package I purchased had an estimated time of 3.5-5.5 hours, to me it felt like they just rushed it out and didn't really care to do a good job. The window trimming was also stained before bringing it in from the other detailing, and I asked if they could get it clean, to which I was told it was ruined and couldn't be recovered. 15 minutes at home with a magic eraser and it was spotless. After being told it was as good as it was going to get, I drove home, grabbed a microfiber glove and the magic eraser and spent about an hour and a half actually getting the car clean, turns out it was in way better shape than I left the shop thinking it was, everything I thought were dings or scuffs came right out with a tiny bit of work. To be quite honest I don't even really know why I paid for the service when I had to go through and redo everything myself, the staff were nice and friendly but that doesn't change the fact that I had to re-detail my car. Just hoping to spread the word and warn people that even if reviews tell you this is the place to go, seems to me that you get what you pay for.
