We have had our vehicles worked on here for a few years now…read more The same day service has been great - you just have to get there early as they can get backed up. My reason for the 2 star review is due to an AC issue with my vehicle. I brought it in at the end of June because there was no AC - it was leaking somewhere. I let them know when I recharge it myself it will last for 2 to 3 weeks, then it blows warm air again. They inform me the wrong Freon was put in the system (I put the correct one in, but I am guessing the person before us did not as it was purchased in January of this year). I go ahead and pay the $500 to have it drained, recharged and pressure tested - no leaks or issues found - good to go. Until this past weekend. The AC went out again (less than 3 weeks after it was filled). I take it back in and let them know it's blowing warm air again. They take a look at it and they say it's low on Freon and it would be another $480 to refill it for them to pressure test it and find the issue -- even though we just did that at the end of June. No thanks.

I learned of them through a mailer advertising a 51 point inspection with an oil change. I was driving to Chicago soon and wanted to make sure my car would make it there and back so I decided to give them a whirl. Since this visit I have continued to take my car there for all routine maintenance and all repairs I have needed. They have consistently given me top notch customer service. I have always felt the red carpet treatment there. I have always felt I was given an honest assessment of my cars issues and was always told whether or not the additional findings were necessary at the moment or if they could wait (i.e. trans flush). The 51 point inspection is given at every visit and really helps keep me be aware of what is going on with my car at all times, this also helps me plan/prepare for any possible future car repairs They offer a free loaner which I have only used once because they were willing to make sure I made it home or to work and also made sure I had a ride back if necessary while they worked on my car. All of this is very comforting and I never have to worry about finding a "ride". I highly recommend Auto Medics of Shelby!!!!!!

Highly recommend if you want honest work at a fair price from people who actually know what they're doing.

He was friendly. I told him what my brother said about the car. My brother is a retired mechanic. He told me that the car needed shocks, struts, wheel rotation and alignment. Mike called after the inspection and told me I needed $6200 worth of work! The car is a 2011. That's more than the car is worth and I told Mike that. I explained that I didn't have that kind of money and needed to keep it under $2000. He said ok and refigured it so he was only doing what I had asked and said he would bring it in way under what he had quoted me in July which was $1890, like in the neighborhood of $1818. His words, not mine. When I picked up my car I scanned the receipt. I didn't see that he didn't do the wheel rotation or alignment! It came in JUST under the quote BUT he hadn't done all that he quoted me and AGREED to the day before! So FIRST he tried to RIP ME OFF FOR A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY and then he didn't do the work that he had agreed to! I don't know. I had this shop work on my 2008 corvette in for a harmonic balancer replacement, it was starting to wobble and wanted to get it done before it went bad. Car has 17k miles and had no previous issues prior to dropping off. He replaced the balancer in a couple days. Told me the car was ready and good to go. I came to pick up the car and the balancer was rubbing against a power steering hose and almost ate through it. The car had a low oil message (oil change was done recently before dropping it off, less than 3k miles ago), and the balancer was wobbling worse than before. He claimed the balancer that was replaced from ATI (a known reputable company on the higher end of performance parts) was machined incorrectly, ATI and summit racing when contacted both said they have never heard of this issue but would send me a new one for him to replace if he believed that to be the issue. I agreed to have Shawn replace the harmonic balancer again. When coming to drop off the balancer the underside of the car was covered in oil (explains the low message, which was not previously there). The car was also spotless underneath with no signs of leaking. Not a single drop on my garage floor prior to dropping off and I've been under the car a lot. He acted as though he didn't even see it when the car is literally dripping oil. He avoided blame and said it was the rear seal or oil pan gasket. After replacing the harmonic balancer again the oil leak seemed to have magically disappeared. Probably because it was coming from the crank seal where he did his work on the harmonic balancer. The harmonic balancer still wobbles more than it should for a quality ATI balancer, should wobble very little or not at all. The oem ones are known to fail and is a problem with this car, ATI is the go to for replacement even though it's 5x the cost. I took the car back because I did not think he was going to fix it correctly. After getting it home I started hearing a loud clunk noise in front end. This noise was not present at all before dropping the car off. I sent him a message asking if he knew if anything may have been left loose on accident and I could double check myself. He left me on read with no response. I thought maybe it's something that happened to go bad since I picked the car up, replaced end links and axle nuts as those are prone for clunking noises on these cars. Clunk noise was still present. After looking over the underside of the car he left a bracket holding some lines completely loose wobbling around, millimeters from hitting the belt / pulley and causing damage. Glad I caught it. Even after torquing that down to spec the car is still clunking and very obvious. After sending him pictures of the loose part he replies with just "glad you found it and it wasn't dangerous, enjoy the car". Taking no accountability for his very bad work. Today after going under the car again to check for the clunking noise, I find the A/C belt is now slipping off the balancer. It looks as if the balancer is backing off the crank as well. The bolt is not accessible for me to check for torque but it's most likely he did not torque to spec. This doesn't just happen if the job was done correctly. I've wasted 1.5k roughly on labor at this shop for him to screw the job up TWICE. This is unacceptable, no dignity or accountability here. DO NOT GO HERE. I am forced to go to an actual performance shop as he could not do it right or make it right. I attached some photos for reference. Shawn, the least you should do is make this right.

The owner initially quoted us a price to fix our engine, but did not follow through on that agreement. We paid $650 upfront and were told we could pay the remaining balance once we obtained the engine. Due to financial hardship, it took some time for us to get the engine, but once we did, the owner refused to honor the original agreement and instead tried to charge a significantly higher amount. I would have never agreed to have the engine taken apart if I had known the quoted price would not be honored. At this point, it feels like we paid $650 for partial work that did not resolve the actual issue. The engine was taken apart, but the root problem was never fixed as promised. Additionally, the explanation provided for the increased labor cost did not feel justified or transparent. Overall, the experience left me feeling taken advantage of. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and requesting an itemized breakdown before agreeing to any work. Based on my experience, I would not trust verbal agreements with this shop. I hope they improve their customer service and transparency moving forward.

They diagnosed my power steering pump and rack and pinon were not the culprit, but it was caused by the lower steering column shaft that got rusted. Gilbert's dad is a very seasoned mechanic who only took about a few minutes to determine the fault. I had to go back on 2 occasions because the replacement part required was not stocked in any local store. The diagnose fee was $180 and for the actual replacement, they charged me $80 for labor and I had to provide the part. I am deducting one star because I felt just for labor alone being $260, it was a little high. A month later the car's steering wheel is loose again and we were afraid to drive it. I called their shop and went back to have it checked again. Gilbert's dad looked at the car and he explained the mechanic who worked on my car didn't tighten the steering column enough and it's now loose. I told him maybe it's just the shaft's steering wheel end that is loose and he was able to confirm it. He also drove the car inside to have it lifted to check the shaft's connection to the rack and pinion, which I was glad to hear that wasn't loose. I was out the shop in less than 25minutes. It has been about 2 month now and so far, it's been holding up.

It was cranking but the engine wasn't turning over. He let me know that 1 can bring drop off the car to his lot and he'd take a look at it the next day. I got the tow the very next day and he immediately started working on my car. Gilbert called to let me know that I desperately needed a tune up and a couple codes came up and that it was quite possible it was my throttle body and that he was suggested the tune up. The price was around 5650. I gave Gilbert the go ahead to proceed with the repairs. I was working at the time so had Gilbert contact my fiancé. My fiancé let me know that Gilbert called him and told him that he flushed out the gas tank because it contained ethanol. Gilbert did this, without my approval AFTER THELFACT. The price increased another $100 and some change. I spoke to Gilbert about not getting approval from me before proceeding with the repairs. What if I didn't have that additional $100+ dollars? It was inconsiderate and I think communication is very important! He apologized and knocked off a few dollars from the total. I picked up my car and it was a bit sluggish. It ran for 4 days before it died again. I called Gilbert to let him know it died again and he offered to cover the tow to take a look at it. He said it's possibly the throttle body as some parts come faulty and since it had a warranty, we could swap it out. I had the flu and didn't have the capacity to deal with that issue so I let him know I'd call in a couple days. I called him to see if the offer was still available and Gilbert told me that if it wasn't the throttle, that I'd have to be "back-logged" because he has so many cars on his lot right now. My fiancé called him and Gilbert offered to give him the part so that he can "Youtube how to switch it out, because it shouldn't be that hard." In what world does a mechanic tell you to take your money but do the work yourself to fix it?! My fiancé said absolutely not and Gilbert said he would do it. It took two weeks to get my car up there finally. He said that it was another censor and it was going to cost $350 to fix, that he just fired 3 mechanics so we should take it somewhere else. We also had to reimburse him for the tow back to the shop. We're out of 2 months with no car, almost $1k and still nothing. After he got that money, I stopped feeling like a priority. I do not recommend this place to get your car fixed. Gilbert "seems" like he cares but once he's paid you and yr car will no longer be his problem. There was also a piece missing from my trunk that I never got back and when I asked, of course he has no idea! SMH save yr time and your money!
