Saw this place had great reviews online and was able to get my car in for an inspection due to my regular garage was backed up because of a busy tire season. Went in for a simple state inspection with a 2018 vehicle with 40,000 miles on it. I was told my car failed inspection due to tires and that they would be able to sell me tires and put them on that day. I left, knowing that my tires had at least 20,000 more miles and was charged for labor, I never received documentation of the inspection but was given pictures of bald tires I was told were my tires. Took it the next week to another garage where it passed without any issues (as it always had in the past). Asked the technician how the tires looked and he said they were completely fine. Would NOT recommend Auto Craftsman. read more

Brought my car here on recommendation from a friend, brought pet food for a benefit price. Service tech told me $ 2000.00 for repairs: new front wheel bearings, headlamp, rear plate light, oil change, and stated must have small oil leak on timing belt fixed. YIKES! Two Thousand Dollars!!!!! I knew it couldn't be possible and felt i was being scammed. Went elsewhere, It was a scam, headlamp replaced, inspected, rear plate light replaced, oil changed, timing belt checked, all under $ 500.00 wheel bearings are in great shape as the dealer i bought the car at, replaced three years ago! Very impressed with the service. Amy, the owner, is super friendly and accommodating. They have a refreshments table with drinks and snacks, plenty of books and magazines to read, and a variety of comfy seats. This business seems to be run very well! They are looking over my car for a customer of theirs that is considering purchasing my car. One of their techs, Ben, looked it over and brought me out to see a couple of things. Both he and Amy spoke to me about the issues and their levels of severity. They didn't push anything on me and were very fair. It's unfortunate that this shop is an hour south of me, because I would bring all of my business here if it was closer. read more

You'll receive a full explanation of the work to be done and any creeping issues. If they say it needs doing, I'd bet the price of your repairs that it does. read more

I like this place, and so far I trust them. The staff have been very helpful. There is a grumpy older man that should not be dealing with customers, on the phone or in person. Alex, the Tech and the young lady who does the shuttle and answers the phone, are all very nice. Being -2 degrees my car would not start, called AAA, they got it started. Called Craftsmen they made time to do 74 point check-up. They do a better job then my dealers ever did, and I have always taken my car to the dealer. If you bring your car in and they find legit problems, thank them and get it done or don't, your choice. If they did not have a AAA discount I would have done what was needed in two visits. I had a Subaru Justy years ago, I brought it to them because of gas fumes. They put it on the rack and told me it was a bomb, it was leaking gas. Friend of mine went there a couple years ago and they put her van on the lift and put the lift on her rocker panels not on the frame. at that point it crushed her rocker panel in and they put it back down and said they could not look at it the rocker panels were too weak and they could not put it on the lift and it was unsafe to drive. she came to me I checked it out the only thing that was wrong with it was the crushed rocker they caused. I advised her not to go there that I have heard other people had issues with them as well. Guess what she went back there today.... they put it on the lift wrong it shifted and almost fell off. they said it was too rusty they couldn't put it on the lift. has a bunch of codes and not safe for the road but offered a car for $50 a day.... codes are all from a bad wheelbearing. abs ect.. little surface rust on rockers.. hole in floor due from the lift being put in the wrong place and sliding off and poking a hole in the floor. seems like everytime they make a mistake and do damage the a car they say it's not safe for the road.... We have been coming here now for about five years and they are the most dependable and trustworthy garage I've come across. There have been at least 4 times when we have spent well over $500 on repairs with them and each time they have come either on or under budget. At one point my truck went to them and there was a list of things that needed to be done, but we were also getting ready to go on vacation with it, so they told me what needed to get done first from a safety perspective. One of the issues was what was basically a giant hole in the tailpipe. The dealer wanted to replace the whole exhaust for $1200. They told me to take it to another place down the street and have the broken section replaced and welded in. Cost me $200 I think, and has lasted for three years now. Another time, we had a really odd thing go wrong with another car where the electric eye that monitors the speed of the belts went, leaving my wife stranded on the highway. It was a tough repair, as it involved everything that you would do to replace the timing belt and other associated parts, so the estimate was around $600 I think. Might have been more. The mechanics found an easier and faster way of doing it and they came in way under budget. They could have easily charged me the full amount that I was willing to pay. They are super flexible in terms of pick up and drop off, give rides locally and have loaner cars. If I had one criticism, it would be a much softer version of the others on here - they are very conservative when it comes to car condition, whether it is overall condition of the car, the amount of repair work to go into the car, tires, etc. An obvious example is that they are quite upfront about not doing brake jobs where just the pads are replaced - they will always just do the whole thing. When it comes to things that are related to safety, I get it, but also understand of the frustration of someone wanting a repair and not being told to get a new car or perhaps thinking that they were going to spend $100 and instead being told that the best thing to do is spend $200 or $400. They did that once to us, but it was on a Honda Civic with over 250,000 miles that was going to need new tires, a new exhaust, had a slipping transmission, had already had a head gasket replaced, and was starting to show some spots of rust. Someone is probably still driving it out there, but for us, it was time to turn it in. read more

These folks are honest, hard working people who truly care about your safety and your automobile's function. I have gone here for 4 years for all my automotive needs. They make sure the job is done correctly the first time and don't try to pressure you into something you don't need done. And since it is owned and operated by a woman, there are car clinic classes only for women! They even make recommendations for other garages if you are out of the area! You won't find better people! When I am in New England, I drive out of my way to come back to these guys! read more

Arrogant and unhelpful. I called this place and spoke with the owner (I think). I told her I wanted some help diagnosing a transmission issue. I know this is not a transmission shop, but I wanted some expert assistance in nailing down the problem, and this place had good reviews. She said to bring it in. I did, and left it with a detailed note stating what I wanted done. The next day, the Service Manager called me. He could not have been more arrogant. First, he told me my oil, brakes and tires were in good shape (I never asked them to look at those items, and if he had looked at the recent inspection sticker, he would have seen that all those things had been checked a month ago). He told me my battery was not bolted down (again, not what I had requested him to look at, and thanks--when I go four wheeling in the Baja I will be sure to tie it down). He also said my water pump is leaking. "How about the transmission, Sir?" "Oh yeah, your transmission's toast," he said. Then he told me I shouldn't put any money in the truck because it's too old. Really? Is that your call to make? (I bought the truck for less than $2,000 and would be happy to spend the money for a rebuilt transmission). I asked if they could assist me in getting the work done. He said his mechanic would not touch the truck because "too many hands have been in it." (Maybe hiring royalty for mechanics isn't the best business plan. And if you have a policy of only working on vehicles that have never been touched by anyone else, you should probably advertise that on your web site). So I picked up the offending vehicle, and took it to Aamco in South Burlington. They did a terrific job rebuilding the transmission, and they confirmed that the water pump was not, in fact, leaking at all. Auto Craftsmen was a colossal waste of time and way too arrogant for my blood. read more

Ended up here when our car died on the way back from our honeymoon. While they did try to talk us up to other repairs, they gave us a very fair price on a radiator replacement, below their original estimate. Quality work, done quickly, on a holiday weekend. Would recommend. read more
