Auto Audio installed an upgraded Kenwood system in my 1995 Miata replacing the door and headrest speakers and fitted a subwoofer behind the passenger seat in May 2024. The system sounds amazing with the top up or down. The installation was excellent. Last week the Kenwood headunit ceased operating. Auto Audio inspected the unit and determined it was defective and replaced it under warranty and returned the car to me in 3 hours. Needed to replace a stereo in a 2018 car. Mark, the owner, and his son Chris were old-school professionals. They acted like I was their most important customer, and explained all of my options thoroughly. The price was more than reasonable, the service was very fast, and the customer service was EXCELLENT! There was a small glitch that I noticed after I'd left the shop as they were closing, so I called back after I got home and they told me to bring the car back the next morning. They fixed the glitch (my error, not theirs) and didn't charge me a nickel for their extra time and service. Saw the sign outside with a $99 dollar speaker replacement. I drive often so when I have blown out speakers it gets boring without music so I figure why not get them fixed. I called in and the owner was a really cool guy and said he would be able to accommodate me within the hour. I'm here now and his technicians are putting the speakers in now. He's got some pretty cool products showcased in here, a lot of Bluetooth connectivity products, high end speakers, etc... I only came for the speakers but seeing all this stuff really did make me consider getting a Bluetooth dash set-up. But not today. The owner's very knowledgeable and has been in the audio business for decades. Definitely choose this over a big box store. I rarely leave reviews but i feel this is needed for others who are looking to get aftermarket audio installed in their vehicles. I and probably many others got hooked by the "40 years in business" This lead me to believe they knew what they were doing. They do have some knowledge but workmanship isn't there. Sloppy installs done that don't match the price they ask for. Discontinued amps that your paying premiums for. Wrong size wire gauge. Amp not even screwed down. Subwoofer enclosure dented and scratched(enclosure is probably cracked). Seems like he sold me whatever he had in the back that he wanted gone. I will blame myself partially for not doing more research of car audio before walking in and doing business with them but i now know high quality work to their work. I recommend everyone to actually look at their install. He did mention he lost all his veteran techs due to the pandemic so maybe thats the issue. Unfortunately most shops in ocean county's work do not match up with prices. You need to travel to get high quality work , or learn yourself and do your own. I will take the loss and i hope this review helps others in their choices. Do your research and stay patient. Find a shop that shows their wiring installs either in pictures or in person. Look in depth at the components they are trying to sell you. I cannot and will not recommend this shop, take your hard earned money and interest in this hobby to a place that actually does work right and doesn't act like a used car salesman. Don't let this shop take you for your money or kill your interest in the car audio hobby like it almost did me. read more

Ok, Part 2 here: 5 Stars. I picked my car today. They completed the work ahead of schedule. Immaculate install. Chris walked me through the new system, and he made a point of showing me the features that he knew I had been interested in. They could have installed the gear and tested it and handed it over, but they went above and beyond. Chris set up the crossovers the way he thought I'd like them. Sure, I tweaked them a bit, but I didn't really need to mess with anything. I could have driven away with a balanced and clear sound, which is what I wanted. There you have it folks. They know their gear. They deal reputable brands. They stand by their work. They have good prices. What you get is a system that works for your needs, peace of mind, and bragging rights far beyond any factory system. read more

I walked into your store hoping to do business. I just bought a second vehicle and wanted a remote start. I walked in after two people and sat down in the chair directly in font of the desk. When two Caucasian males approached the desks, I watched the whole interaction. The sales person( a Caucasian male as well) was polite and seem to be very helpful to them. After the people who were at the counter left, the sales person turn around and walked away. Being totally visible; I was sorta amazed! I am a black male, 200lbs and 6"4. How could the sales person not see me ? So instead of calling someone out, I waited patiently. Five mins later, another older gentleman walks past and to me surprise, he actually sees me and acknowledges me and the fact I have been waiting. Then the older gentleman, directing speaks to the younger male and tells him to help me. The younger male comes out and was totally unprofessional and and smug. He then says " what do I want ? " then I did say, well I thought you saw me here? He then states he was in the bathroom. Well if the was the case, the older gentleman would have said that. And I would have gladly waited. And your younger guy didn't know I already saw the older gentleman direct him. Long story short he wasn't in the bathroom. For some reason he didn't want to help me. The level of service he gave the people before me, was polite and respectful. When it came to me; he didn't want to tell my anything about the remote starter. He didn't provide any options at all. And he laughed; when I address the fact he left me at the counter. As a homeowner and having two cars, I thought It would be doing a good thing buy supporting a local business. Here; that was clearly a mistake. You would think with Covid and businesses shutting down, people who work for these establishments would be a lot nicer to the consumer. So I'll take my business else where......... sad part is; which ever place I decided to business with, would have done all the electrical work on the vehicle. For all the new people in this town; this is not the place where you want to be. I guess my money or the fact I was there; wasn't good enough for him. Being a first responder and working Covid was stressful enough and it's shame people like this are allowed to render mediocre service while being smug with the costumer. read more

Sirius cut in and out on trip but not because of install...made trip awesome. I scheduled an appt 4 weeks out for a remote start install. the guy i spoke to said he had the parts in stock and scheduled me for nov 11. i made 100 deposit and was never made aware of any policy for cancelling an appt (not getting deposit back) nor was i emailed a receipt or invoice with policy on it and the manager admitted i didnt get the invoice with the policy. today 10/27/21 i called to cancel my appt due to the fact that i sold that car. was advised per policy i would not be refunded the deposit and would only be given store credit. i made him aware that he never told me about this policy when i scheduled. he stated he was the one who scheduled me and admitted i didnt get the policy. they should either tel;l everyone about the policy when taking deposits or honor a full refund especially since my appt is still 3 weeks away. he stated he would have to talk to someone but theres no guarantees of anything. wont be going back here ever again. poor communication and poor management. policies can only be in place and followed with verbal/written acknowledgment for the consumer otherwise policies are broken and contracts are invalid. ***Update the owner has edited his response twice on my google review and stated that because of my review he is unwilling to work with me and theres nothing more he can do. i cussed him out for his poor business. he asked me what i thought a deposit was for and i explained that the issue is that no one stated to me the purpose of the deposit when i scheduled. i was under an impression that it was to hold my spot for nov 11. he stated it was for a special part needing to be ordered. the issue isnt that a part was ordered (which by the way a company can return and the owner stated that to me) the issue is that i was never made aware that a part was even ordered. read more

So.... These guys are pretty professional and I guess overall I'm happy with the install. It's neat. What I'm not happy with is the fact they messed up my rear passenger side window. They must've slammed the door or something and it fell off the track. Luckily I'm handy but it was like 8pm with rain in the forecast the next day in the beginning of January so that was a pita fixing in the cold dark night. Then..... When they had my head unit out, they forgot to plug back in my back up camera so I had to pay someone else to get that fixed...... Oh and they had my car from 9am until about 630 pm. They told me it would be done around 3. It wasn't and I got dropped off there around 3 so I had to sit in the store for 3.5 hours. Nightmare. They took no responsibility for the fact the window was messed up or the fact they didn't plug my backup camera back in. So since 80% of his business is referrals..... You'll get none of that from me. You should've made it right...... read more

Couldn't be more disappointed. Had my Range Rover tinted and the guy, without asking, did the tinting on my windshield so low that I couldn't see driving and a cop had my strip it down. All I wanted was a $30 discount and instead they said they would re do it but it could cost me another twenty dollars. Moreover I had to call five times per week to get their attention despite me steady have spent $250+ there for other tinting work. Given their terrible customer service I am amazed that they are in business. read more

Have been here several times for other things. I needed a rear view camera replaced as the result of an accident. I had done some research and suggested what camera I wanted. Mark felt a different camera would be better and even a little cheaper. He was totally right, as before. The installation was EXCELLENT and they took the time to make sure I understood totally how to operate it and adjust the camera's settings. I have been to Auto Audio twice in the last 2 years and each time both the installation and the service was absolutely great. I am a ham radio operator and brought them the radio and the antenna to install. They did a wonderful job. The job was so good that you could not tell that it was not a factory installation. You could not see the antenna cable which ran from the rear of the car behind the headliner to the dashboard. Prior to having the equipment installed I spoke with Tim who was knowledgeable and professional. He explained exactly how the ham radio would be installed, how the power cord would go through the firewall directly to the battery and how the antenna would be mounted on the roof of the car. If I were to rate both the installation and the service I would give Auto Audio a 10 on a ten scale. They were that good! read more

Bought a stereo and all install components from Crutchfield. Crutchfield flagged the stereo I was buying and identified an audio converter that needed to be installed so my factory speakers and amp would function properly with the correct amount of amps. Brought everything to Auto Audio and was told I didn't need the converter. I asked again and told them the Crutchfield advisors stated the converter was absolutely necessary. They told me to return it to save my money. Had the install done and after listening to the stereo for a few days I noticed it just didn't sound right. Volume levels were way too high and there was a ton of white noise. Brought it back to Auto Audio and they once again denied the need for the converter. They told me they were too busy to help me, told me that installing the converter would only distort the sound more, and tried to sell me a $300 amp to make the situation better. They said they would install the component a different day, but would have to charge me again for the install. I left their shop and went to a local competitor who told me the exact same thing as the Crutchfield advisor. They installed the component, and the stereo sounds great. I requested a refund and sent several messages to Auto Audio and they just ignored them. Very very poor customer service, and I question their knowledge on installs. The guy at the shop was even bold enough to tell me the white noise was not that bad, and I should just turn up my volume to get rid of the sound. Total garbage. I know I would never get my money back on the install, but they had a second chance to do the right thing and install the converter for free, which they would not do. Avoid at all costs. read more

Brought car in last week because a speaker was cutting in and out. Was told speakers (12 years old) likely needed replacement. About an hour after leaving the car to have new speakers installed, I got a call from them saying the problem was caused by some metal shavings that had gotten into the radio, causing intermitent shorts. They cleaned the inside of the radio and confirmed the existing speakers were fine. No charge. In the future, I would never bring any car of mine to anyone else but them for audio. I wanted to treat myself to a birthday gift. So back in June 2012, I went to this place to have all four of my car stereo speakers replaced in addition to the main head unit. After shopping around, I decided on the unit I wanted and luckily this place had the unit. On the day of installation, the gentleman with the overalls, I cannot remember his name, told me he was out of the stock of the unit I wanted. To compensate for this, he gave me the unit that was a level down to the one I originally wanted and included blue-tooth installation w/ adapter for free. Needless to say, I ended up saving about $50.00 by doing this with the luxury of blue-tooth installed. I was very pleased with the service here and not to mention, the new sound in the car is very loud, just how I like it. What is also a plus, there is a lifetime warranty on the work they installed. As long as you keep the car, they will recheck/correct their work if something should go wrong. I would recommend this place to anyone. They don't BS you, they give you real prices and has the knowledge to give you what you want for a very reasonable price. Installation was clean and professional. read more
