Having visited several detailing locations in the past, Auto Accent has been the worst experience to date. The transaction left me feeling taken advantage of. From vague explanations, seemingly constant price changes, and a rude owner, the entire operation is for lack of a better word "shady". Below is an overview of my experience at Auto Accent.
I called Auto Accent for a full detail on my vehicle (small two door). Over the phone, the owner (Joe) highlighted what would be done and offered me a price of $160. We scheduled the appointment and I dropped my car off bright and early. Over the phone I was told that the job would take a few hours.
A few hours later, I returned to be greeted with a bit of an attitude from Joe. He then claimed that the job wouldn't be done until late afternoon and that he "never said it would take a few hours." I attempted to disregard the rude attitude and inquired about the status of my vehicle.
Joe then told me that the vehicle needed to be clay barred (clayed). That this would cost $20 per large panel and $10 per small panel. This is where the real issue started. In our phone call, I was promised a complete detail, including all paint, interior, and engine bay. Now, Joe was saying that the new price would be $210 to do it "properly". So, the $160 quote was to do it improperly?
Whenever I have had my vehicles detailed, clay bar was included to clean the paint prior to buffing. It removes contaminants on the surface. Not at Auto Accent. They tack on an additional $20 per panel for this service. Now, why was I promised the world on the phone, as far as what my car would receive and then something different once the vehicle was in their garage. The sad part is...the only reason I knew about this additional charge was because I came back early and inquired on my vehicles' status. No phone call, no explanation prior. So that means that Auto Accent was going to perform the service and charge me $50 more than what I was quoted.
After asking them to stop what they were doing with the vehicle, the owner claimed that it would be $100 for what they had done to the vehicle already (Wash, Interior, Engine Bay). Once in the office, Joe said the total was $110. Where did the extra $10 come from?! And no, it was not from "taxes". Each time I confronted him about these issues, I was met with a dirty look and rude tone.
So, if you are looking for an honest operation that will deliver on what is promised, do not go to Auto Accent. The experience can best be described as a Bait and Switch. As previously stated, my hope is that others will not be taken advantage of like I was. read more
