Upon walking in I was greeted by such a soft yet beautifully aromatic scent. I kindly asked the attendant what I incense or candle or scented oil where burning. It was so heavenly. I needed it for my home. She warmly smiled and said it was a combination of many items that they carried in the store and the store always smelled this pleasantly sweet. I chatted for awhile with Laura as I waited for my stuff crust pizza from Pizza Hut to be prepared. I was so intrigued with all the items in the store that I let my pizza get cold. They had healing stones, stones for your chakras, candles, scented oil, a variation of sage and spices. There was jewelry with good quality stones and sculptures galore. Not only was there a pleasant vibe in the store that made you feel peaceful and serene but Laura was so patient and informative as I began to be more and more inquisitive. Bless her heart. I am sure I bombarded her with questions due to my curiosity. I had never been in a spiritual store of this type. The store was organized and Clean... there were 3 well behaved and well mannered cats in the store. We pet the beautiful spotted cat named Romeo.. They were so calm and in a zen like state. Can I reiterate that this store did not smell like there were animals and it smelled more like the asking thru a field of exotic wild flowers Laura advised that the store also has a reiki master, a tarot card reader and those that can educate you on to heal your chakras. Forgive me if I am not using the proper terms.. This was all new to me. I purchased a sterling silver necklace and a beautiful and elegant polish Rose Quartz Pendant. I may go bad and get the matching ring and use my yelp coupon! In addition this store LOVES Us YELPERS! There was a yelp logo sign behind the register and when I checked in I received a Yelp Coupon for a FREE Table Stone.. As I left I thanked Laura and told her that I really enjoyed our conversation and that the store had a great vibe. She stated the owner desires for everyone to leave the store feeling HAPPY! I will admit I left feeling serene and content. Mission accomplished Kindred Spirit! Great vibe!

The one I like to park at when going to Selden Market is the Hilton Main parking garage as it is attached to Selden Market. If you get off on level P1, it will lead you directly inside Selden Market. What I found: I was specifically looking for VA-themed stickers and thankfully I found one that is in the shape of the state, with mountains on it with VA printed on it. I also found some VA is for lovers rubber keychains and VA peanuts! I got some chocolate covered and some Old Bay flavored. Mmm, maybe my friend will let me taste them once I give it to her LOL. You know how it is, just before going on a trip....so many things to do, so little time. I was so grateful this was a quick and fruitful trip! Overall, I've had consistently great experiences, which is why I wanted to share both the positives and one area that could use some attention. The Fresh Market has one of the best meat counters around. Their filet mignon is my go-to purchase, and it's always been outstanding. Their produce is consistently fresh, and I also love their bakery. They regularly offer unique seasonal and specialty baked goods that are always worth trying. Today, I decided to order their fresh bruschetta because it's not something many stores carry. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, when it arrived, it didn't look fresh at all. Even though the container is dated to expire tomorrow, it had a milky appearance that made it look unappetizing and, in my opinion, not safe to eat. I understand that products can occasionally slip through the cracks, but I think this is something that should have been noticed before it made it into a customer's order. Whether it's during stocking, by the department team, or at checkout, I hope more attention is given to products that no longer appear fresh, even if they're still within the sell-by date. Overall, this one experience won't keep me from shopping at The Fresh Market. I still highly recommend them for their excellent meat department, fresh produce, bakery, and the convenience of delivery. I just hope they take a closer look at product quality so future customers don't have the same experience. So the next morning I woke up with the intention of drinking my Bizzy Expresso Cold Brew Coffee only to find it expired a month ago which is very concerning and disappointing! It tells me that stores are not paying attention to their products!!

The One Downside: This location doesn't have an in-store cafe. A fresh latte or a smoothie would have been the perfect with our pizza. Bottom Line: Great for high-quality essentials and easy meals. Everyone was so friendly and pleasant. A nice change of pace from the usual grocery run.

Owner was rude! Last…read moreFebruary my husband and I flew to Norfolk and took the ferry to Portsmouth for the day. We found this shop and a beautiful (and pricey) piece of pottery in the front window that unfortunately I could not fly home with. Fast forward to today over 5 months later and it's still there. This time we drive and it was coming home. BUT... when I entered the shop the owner or employee was upstairs and when I said I needed help she continued to yell from above instead of coming down to the COMPLETELY EMPTY store. I explain I'd like to see the piece in the window and the she replies "Well I can't just take it out." I say "Even to sell?" She starts shuffling down stairs and muttering and says "I can't just take it out to look at" under her breath but loud enough for me to hear. Well that was it. We just told her not to bother herself and left. Enjoy your completely empty shop when it's closed because you can't be bothered to actually sell anything. And I agree with the owner... She had zero patience to actually sell anything. Not on the phone not doing anything but sitting upstairs and didn't want to be bothered. Just laziness. If you don't want to sell something big and can't be bothered to move it maybe don't put it in your display window or hire someone not rude and lazy. I try to shop local and support local businesses but if you don't want to be bothered and then LIE about it then you don't deserve the support. And if you were sorry you did a poor job of showing it.

I…read morestumbled upon it when I ordered take out at La Taqueria Hacienda (s/o to Theresa M for putting it on my radar). There is a direct indoor passage from La Taqueria Hacienda to MRTL, my youngest and I went to take a peek while we waited for our takeout order. It's a small store but lots of great stuff packed into it. At the front, there are some freezers and fridges with frozen treats (paletas, mangonadas etc) and other prepared goods from local businesses like flan and tres leches from Jessy's. The first front aisle is dedicated to a showcase of Mexican baked goods also brought in from local bakeries. The next few aisles are filled with grocery store items. I love seeing the products that familiar brands release in other markets. Will have to go back for the Palmolive fruity bar soap. It smelled so good ! All the way back, is the butcher with all sorts of meats, both plain and marinated. After we did a once over to see what the store offers, I couldn't help myself with the baked goods. I see/hear about baked goods and it's a trigger word (a good trigger). My eyes start to glaze over and I start making my way over LOL. I stopped a staff member and I asked her about all the goods. I wish she could truly understand the level of my enthusiasm and curiosity and I think she did the best she could to describe all the items, but I made do with what she shared and I just went with what looked good. She said that the case under the La Sabrosita had been delivered that day, so she didn't need to tell me twice. We got 4 things (these are not the proper names as I have no idea, just descriptions): - sugar donut with custard - classic sugar yeasty donut with custard, except, they don't poke a hole and fill it, they slice it in half and slather the custard. I loved this one. - puff pastry with cream inside and then a thin layer of icing type coating on top, and then rolled back in the puff pastry crumbs? These type of pastries tend to be on the dry side. It was pretty straight forward and it was pretty big. - cake/bread with sesame seeds - this reminds me of a homemade pound cake (not store bought) or madeleine type texture, not cake and not bread, in the middle. The size is pretty large (picture those jumbo muffins at Costco that you have to buy two packs) and it's topped with sesame seeds. Great morning item. I loved this one too. - Cinnamon cake - there was a thin layer of a cinnamon mixture at the bottom, majority of the cake/bread and then the top had a crack-ly crust, piped with what looked like a cinnamon stick, but it's actually another edible cake thing. On the drier side, but more meant to be another morning item with coffee or tea. My youngest loved this one with her milk. The items were not small either. The best part of all this, was when I went to pay, I was floored at the final total. I thought she had made a mistake. It was SOOOOO cheap! It was $8 and some change. The girl chuckled at my disbelief and she said the price had gone up. Well, don't mind if I do. I'll definitely be back and check out their meats back there too. Enjoy friends and Happy Latinx Heritage Month!
