It took longer than we wanted to get the work started but we were willing to wait because we had a good feeling about working with Frank, the owner. And we were right -- from working through different design ideas to picking the stones and the plants, all of it was easy and no pressure. You get the sense that what they want is genuinely for you the customer to love what you choose. And we do. Once the work started, everything went very smoothly and we really appreciated how much care Frank and his crew took with our stuff. Each day they would move things out of the backyard and then back in in the evening. They took care to cover our stuff with tarps, and everything was kept as neat as possible during a renovation like this. Now that we have our patio to enjoy, we are grilling and eating out there every chance we get. And I smile when I pull up in front of our house. We would definitely recommend this company.

Frank and his team came in and cleaned out my old crappy landscape and put in a beautiful flagstone garden wall staring in the front and going around the side. Plus, all new planting's in the front and kept the planting's in the side garden that I wanted to keep. They did a great job and I couldn't have been more pleased. He was thorough and fast. Even my in-laws became a new clients. We had such a good experience with Frank, Liz and the entire team that we look forward to our next project together.

Black Owned Business for the win!…read more I am very well pleased with the work and results of this business. They were hired to plant a few plants in my front yard for curb appeal because I'm selling my home. It's February 2021... And just snowed. What can I say? I'm stubborn and impatient. Nonetheless, Mr. Fields was willing to meet my needs and give me more suggestions to make the look complete and care for the newly planted plants in the middle of winter. His suggestions didn't feel like just an upsell to gain money, but like he was trying to present me with what made sense for someone selling a home and he was correct. He didn't overcharge me and it looks better than I could have imagined. 11 years living here with very little landscaping work done and now my house looks so good I almost want to stay in it!! I'll be calling them back to do my backyard before putting my home on the market next month. We were going to do it ourselves but after seeing their thorough work please take this off my hands! I feel great knowing it'll get done as thoroughly as I would do it if I could duplicate myself. Plus the owner was awesome and so were the workers. Very chill, informed, committed, and focused. My yard looks like a Field of Dreams :)

Unfortunately, due to such a busy schedule, I was not able to do the work myself. However, I started looking around and I came into contact with Jeremy / South Side Specialties (SSS) via Yelp. I had multiple estimates for a pressure treated retaining wall, three drain pipes, a low level deck tear down, river rock/flagstone and artificial grass install. From day one, I knew he was going to be the company I went with. He was super professional, came in at a fair price, completed the project quickly with a very professional/knowledgeable staff and has been amazing to work with on the back end. He was so good, I recommended him to my parents for a massive hardscape project and to my homeowners association for some tree work our community needs completed. We had no issues with Jeremy / SSS at all. A lot of companies don't really care about you once the check is cashed and the project is completed, but not Jeremy. Throughout working with Jeremy on my home project, he had found out that my grandfather was very ill (eventually passed away). Approximately two weeks after the project was completed and paid for, Jeremy gave me a ring and left me a voicemail checking in on my family and I to see how we were holding up. You have no idea what that meant to us - he's an absolute professional with a big heart and amazing customer service. Jeremy and SSS have my highest recommendation I can give them!

As another review stated, I am writing this review specifically for their business practice and…read morelack of response and not for the quality of the lawn service. I have been a loyal customer for three years without any issues and have always been satisfied with their service. Except for last year when they switched to new management. Last year I had them do over seeding and aeration. This is the same service they had provided to me the two previous years with one exception. This time when I received the bill it was $50.00 more then the previous year for the exact same service. This price increase was never brought up when I created the appointment and in fact when I asked the receptionist if the cost would be the same from the previous year, she stated YES. After leaving numerous messages and continuing to call for two weeks, I was finally able to resolve the issue after an hour long conversation with the office manager. No one from Alexandria Lawn Service ever returned my calls. Now, fast forward to this year. We receive a contract from Alexandria Lawn Service for lawn mowing. We did not sign the contract and called their company to cancel service. We thought this issue had been resolved by the conversation we had with the receptionist. We were wrong. Alexandria Lawn Service still came by and mowed my lawn twice. I called and spoke to the receptionist again stating that I wished to not continue service as I requested earlier on a previous call. This time she stated cancellation needed to be in writing and required 30 days notice. I asked why this was not brought up on my initial phone conversation when I called to cancel service. She did not have a response!!!! But wait, it gets better. The initial contract Alexandria Lawn Service sent for this year was for $30 a mow. This is the same contract I did not sign as I wished to cancel service. I then received a bill from Alexandria Lawn Service for the two mows at $40 a mow. Where the hell did $40 a mow come from??? I then pulled out the contract they sent me this year which was never signed and returned. If you read the fine print on the contract, it states if the service being provided changes or the price of the service changes then a new contract needs to be signed, otherwise you are automatically renewed against the contract from the previous year. Last time I checked $30 does not equal $40. Once again I have left numerous messages for Pam "office manager" with no returned calls. This is now the second time "new management" has switched prices without notification. Based on this improper billing practice and lack of communication I would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for lawn service to take their business elsewhere.

We received several estimates from 4 other companies in the area, and New Earth's was right in the middle. The reason we chose New Earth is the honesty that the owner, Jon Runger, put forth. We wanted to go with ideas for plants that we saw online. Jon knew each of the plants we wanted, and informed us that they most likely would not last in our changing environment here. He gave us other suggestions and we would still get the same look we were after. His suggestions also lowered the price. Another thing that sold us was the organic part. We needed 3 yards of soil brought in, and there was no charge for the dirt itself. Jon informed us that they make their own organic dirt, and because of this it wouldn't cost us! WOW! Lastly, we had seen the 2 negative reviews left on this site, and then also looked at the Google reviews. We concluded that the negative reviews were not in line with what others had stated. We actually found Jon and his team to not only be friendly, but very courteous and jovial. Not once were we pressured to do more than what we wanted, and their clean up was meticulous. Overall, we are very, very satisfied with New Earth, the owner, and their quality of work. Definetely will use them again as needed.
