Arlana, who's the owner of ABL, is GREAT. She is very welcoming and professional. I am extremely pleased with the treatments I received- cleanse, steam, extractions, mask and moisturizer. She even treated my eye area. The salon is nice and clean. There's a comfy lounge area. There's also an area with a salon chair and mirror for makeup application. I hate paying so much to de-fur myself, so i try to find deals for it. Thankfully, I came across a really good deal on groupon which led me to ABL. I have to say, out of all my experiences at wax salons (and ive been to maybe 8-9 different spots arnd chicago depending on which has a deal). This is one of the better ones. I made an appointment by phone, text which was very convenient for me. Got a text 2 days before the appt as a reminder, - appreciated. A lot of parking around the salon, or, u could park at mariano's and pick up their orange juice which is also the BEST OJ Ive ever had (but that aside). Rang the bell, was greeted by Aryana, she is so sweet, calm and friendly. I like the ambiance of the salon, very clean, fresh, and was walked to my room where it smelled like a very relaxing spa, must have had some kinda essential oil diffuser and also relaxing music. I felt relaxed. Like i was about to get a massage. Tho ofcourse it was actually quite the opposite of that but! felt like i was getting one for real. I laid on the bed and was surprised - whatttt?? I was like is this bed heated? no, she had laid a nice layer of warm fresh towels on that bed for me damnnn!! Points! The whole process was clean, hygenic, meticulous, relaxing, perfecto. Didn't leave a single nada on me. Love it. As for products,she used hard wax which everyone knows it is the least painful compared to regular waxing totally. So i appreciate that for some sensitive areas. I think i finally found a spot worth committing to. Plus i still have a deal on another one. So i'm so glad to do it here. I hope this is not too TMI, but seriously, i've had some experiences where it was like some SNL skit i swear. this lady had a fan on, things were flying arnd, there was sticky wax on places there shouldnt be, i was like "whattttttt??" And then some were just PAINFUL, doesnt help that they use soft wax too and then they hv rooms like a storage. Sounds like she's good at facials too. So that's good to know. read more

Bought a groupon for a Brazilian. My appointment was at 1pm and I arrived 20mins early and asked if they could take me a little early. The woman gladly accepted. I really wish I could remember her name. I used the restroom before we got started. The waxing room was very dark and the lights were dim. I noticed the wax warmer was not well taken care and full of dripping wax The woman was not personable at all. She seemed like she was just there to do her job and didn't really engage in conversation. Getting a Brazilian to me is a very personal experience and nerve racking. I'd like to feel comfortable with the aesthetician. It was my second Brazilian so I knew what to expect. The after is what got me. I went home with wax residue all over the area and on my underwear. Very sloppy job. Do not recommend and will not be back. Would not choose this person to be my regular wax lady. read more

I bought a groupon deal for a make up class. I was about 8 mins late for my appointment. The lady who greeted me Kendra, was very accommodating. She asked me if I wanted to water I said no thanks. Then she asked me to take a seat while she got her stuff ready. It took about 5 mins and then she came over and asked me what I was looking for then asked me for the color. We settled on a neutral for a daytime look. She then asked me to pick a lipstick shade that I like. For the eyes she asked me to pick a few colors that I usually don't try. The owner has her own line of make up. All the products she used on me are from this "allure" line. Then she got to work and started with the eyes. Through the process she answered all my questions and explained what she was doing and gave me some good tips. What I really like about her was, she told me the easy 5 min way to do it. A couple of other clients came in. She went over and greeted them and came back to my make up application. At the end of the session she listed all the products she used on me on a chart and answered all my questions. I had no change for the tip so she broke a 20 for me. I went to the Mariano's across the street afterwards and one of the ladies who was in there for a microdermabrasion asked me how the make up session was and complimented on how natural and great it looks. So overall I really liked the service and the place and would recommend this place for a make up application or a lesson. I had tried all kinds of spas and treatments to deal with my skin discoloration issue for a long time. About two years ago, I tried Arlana's facials, and had been going to the Allure Beauty Lounge ever since. As a result of her expert skincare knowledge and treatments, my discoloration is a lot less noticeable, and I almost never get pimples anymore. I am not sure what it is, but every time I go there, I was able to really relax and feel really pampered. Perhaps, it is the music, the candle-light, the aroma therapy? Arlana is really sweet, I am giving 2 stars. I was really disappointed with my wax. I wanted to find a place closer to me than my regular place and allure had a groupon for 2 bikini or Brazilians. The first time I went I wasn't thrilled but I hadn't waited as long as I normally do between waxes, so I thought maybe I just hadn't waited long enough. The second time I waited LONGER than I usually wait and I was soooo disappointed. There is nothing worse than a bad wax. Honestly just the technique is awful. She pulls the wax away slowly and goes over the same spot multiple times leaving little bits of stray hairs and also razor burn galore. I'm not an esthetician, but I have gotten my share of good waxes and this is not one of them. Again, Arlana is soooo sweet and I'm sure she's excellent in other areas. But if you need a wax, maybe stick to your regular like I should have done. read more

Came in after buying a Groupon for two Brazilian waxes. The lady who did my wax was so nice but worked so slow and kept going over the same areas multiple times. It was also completely uneven and she didn't show me at the end to see if I was happy with the shape (which I was not.) Also, I left super sticky. They have baby wipes to use at the end which does not get rid of any of the remaining wax. Left with my underwear sticking to my body. Really the worst wax I have ever had. Found out about this place through Groupon. Went in to get a Brazilian wax. Ambiance was very nice and clean. The owner was nice. I left pretty angry though because she did not finish the Brazilian wax that I paid for. I showed up about 15 minutes late because my Uber was late (if you live in the city you know the traffic is pretty unpredictable). 30 minutes after my appointment she said she can't finish waxing because she had to get to her next client. I thought this was very unprofessional...I would rather she rescheduled my appointment than not finish. I don't know why another appointment was scheduled within 30 minutes of mine. Other thing- she kept reapplying the wax to the same place and this caused an uncomfortable rash. She also left wax stuck to hairs she didn't wax and left a bunch of little hairs. Not a great experience. I'm sure she is good with skincare and makeup but I wouldn't come back here for a Brazilian wax. read more

Found a Groupon and wanted to try a new spot so after reading reviews, I decided to try Allure. really wanted to like this place. It was clean and welcoming, but the wax was extremely hot. When I told esthetician it was too hot she said it was normal. It was definitely too hot because I had burn marks in certain areas afterwards. I broke out pretty badly as well.
