I've taken multiple pairs of shoes here to be re-soled (some of which other repair places literally told me to throw away) and received them back with fantastic repairs. I've even taken backpacks with splitting zippers and leather dogs leashes with stitching coming undone. Its so nice to get things fixed for reasonable prices instead of just throwing stuff away. The people that work there are courteous and helpful. 100% recommend read more

I would never take my handmade cowboy boots anywhere else for repairs. I wouldn't trust them with anyone else in Austin. These guys are bootmakers. They know the trade. The prices are fair, the work is exceptional, and the turnaround time is decent. Family owned and operated. I've been bringing my boots here for 10 years and they are phenomenal. read more

I brought in a pair of naturally distressed shoes I've owned for two years that had stitching coming undone at the toe. They repaired them quickly, buffed them out, and the cost was far less than expected--easily 90% cheaper than buying a new pair. I'll get at least another couple of years out of them. I also had an older pair of Cole Haan boots with loose stitching on the sides. Even though I don't wear them often, the repair was fast, affordable, and the stitching quality was excellent. Highly recommend. read more

Repair was done exactly as I requested. An old pair of shoes partially re-stitched to comfortably last another year

They added a zipper at the back of my English writing boots that has transformed them as far as fit and ease to get on and off. Great work! Very affordably priced. read more

Quick, inexpensive, and a good value to repair inside of my sandals. Would definitely go there again.

Wife went to get a purse re-sewn. The work was great and the job was done on time . Will use them again for sure

Have been going to Austin Shoe Repair since 1977. Their prices have remained the same despite the inflation of the last 4 1/2 years. There is nothing they can't do. I recently had to have a boot stretched and took it to the only place I trust with my favorite alligator boots. I have referred many friends over the years and they too are impressed with the quality, speed, and value of their repairs. I also had them dye an alligator belt to match my boots and am quite pleased. read more

I'm just gonna leave a picture right here and let that do all the talking. This is my absolute favorite pair of boots as you can tell from looking at the soul and they are seven years old. I don't know if I would trust anybody else with this beautiful pair of Heritage shark boots. read more

Original Austin. Entirely the best. Perfect quality. Perfect service. Exactly what you ask for and can even know where you need to go before you do. Visionary. Perfect value and it Goes a very long way. Support these people at all costs. I didn't get the nickname "The Lone Star Diva" for nothing. These boots from Heritage Boot Company have been with me for ages, and Austin Shoe Repair is the ONLY shop in town I will ever trust with my favorite footwear. I ride these boots hard and often put them up wet, leaving them looking more than worse for wear. And somehow, likely through some Old Austin Magic, the fine folks at Austin Shoe Repair make them look good as new again EVERY TIME, and all for a fair price. God forbid they should ever close up because I might have to quit my job and take up cobbling to ensure this kind of quality care. read more

Wow, what a throw back to the "good old days". I have an old pair of nice cowboy boots that I only wear when it's cold. It got cold and I noticed both heels were a bit worn. I was driving by an Austin Shoe Hospital and stopped in. Asked about having it done while I waited, but apparently the Shoe Hospital sends them out now (huh?). Later on I called Austin Shoe repair and they said come on down anytime except between one and two, when the shoemaker eats lunch. I did. Took off my boots and was told to make myself comfortable on the one chair in their small but tidy little shop. I asked to use the bathroom and in my stocking feet walked into an immaculately clean little bathroom (it was cleaner than the one I went to in my Doctor's office, earlier in the day). In a reasonably short time the nice lady presented my nicely cleaned, buffed and new-heeled boots. The cost was reasonable and the service terrific. Shame that things we used to take for granted are so hard to find these days. read more

Ridiculously expensive. The man who operates this place (by himself it seems) is not the warm, welcoming type. I feel uncomfortable as if I'm intruding on his time. It's weird. Maybe he's a shoe repair genius. I'll look for another place. read more

Family run operation with Owner and wife on-site and perform all work. Quality work at a terrific price. Trust them with our most expensive shoes. Many of the negative reviews appear to be the result of lack of communication with desired service. I'm very picky and detail what I desire and they hit the mark every time. Austin Shoe Repair - Tucked in rhe corner - Shoe Repair Near Me - Austin, Texas

I was quoted a price and when I went to pay he charged me 150 dollars more than my quote and made up things he did to my shoes.

THESE PEOPLE RUIN SHOES!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE! Take it from someone who buys expensive shoes and takes great care of them. I put protective soles on my brand new shoes regularly so they last longer and I don't damage the shoe right off the bat. I came to this hangnail of a place because my normal shoe shop- Austin Shoe Hospital (which does incredible work) was closed on Sunday. I brought my brand new, never been worn $950 Jimmy Choo pumps here the be soled and these clowns put the wrong size rubber soles on them and painted the sides of the rubber a super dark brown and got that dark brown paint all over the sides of my shoes. Instead of trying to take the excess brown paint off or fix it, they decided to paint on top of the brown paint with a bright pink paint to try to cover it up. When I went to pick up the shoes, I pointed it out as it was super obvious. They said they would try to fix it. It took 3 weeks of trips back and forth for me to try and get my shoes clean and they never got any cleaner, they just kept adding more and more pink paint. By the third time, the guy in the back came forward and said my shoes "came like that." That he was done working on them and refused to do any more work. He demanded I pay $25 in cash and leave. He would not accept my credit card because he didn't want me to call my credit card company to get a refund. He said if I chose not to pay, he would keep my shoes and call the cops because I was now causing a problem. I wish there was video footage of this, because I just stood there while he screamed at me. I paid the $25 and left. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else otherwise it will look like you took your shoes to an elementary school on arts and crafts day. read more

I took 2 pairs of boots to Austin Shoe Repair based on the good reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed. The knee-high women's boots needed the heel tips replaced, but the men's ankle boots I took in needed the entire soles replaced. They took care of my shoes within the timeframe they promised, 1 week, and the cost was very reasonable. They are, unfortunately, the only active business in the entire strip mall and are hidden in the corner. If you need shoe repair done, give them some love. They're hardworking and will do a great job! read more

They brought my leather boots back to life! No gimmicks,, straightforward and so precise in their work. Highly recommended considering the quality and the price of their competitors in Austin. read more

DISHONEST!!! DON'T DO BUSINESS HERE!!!!! I brought my boots in to get re-heeled. When I picked them up, there were scratches and weird marks (see photos) all the way around one heel. Looks like when they were filing around the new bottom, they rubbed against the entire heel and scratched it. When I told the guy that I was not happy, he said that that was how they were when I brought them in. NOT TRUE! He was incredible rude and got really mean. I then had to wait about 15 minutes while he called Lupe (the front desk lady who wasnt there that day) and told her (In spanish) that my boots were brought in that way and that because they weren't "nice" boots, that it wasn't his problem. As a customer, I've never been treated so horribly before. I came back in the next day to talk to Lupe and she told me that my boots were brought in that way and that if I wanted them to get smoothed out, I would have to pay them another $5. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I wish I would have read the 2012 reviews and saved myself a lot of headache. read more

Austin Shoe Repair - HORRIBLE work! They scratched the heel on one of my boots and then tried to tell me that I brought them in that way. DISHONEST! - Shoe Repair Near Me - Austin, Texas

Dropped off 2 pairs of boots (Lucchese+Tecovas). My Luccheses finally needed a new heel, and the Tecovas just needed some cleaning up. Both pairs came out looking 100 times better than they did when I dropped them off! Will definitely be coming back. read more

These people are a rip off, when you drop off your shoes its a lower price. When you pick them up it can be as much as $5.00 more. The Male on the business is rude and with no class does not know how to communicate without using a aggressive bad attitude to get a point across. He lost a customer for life. Hope he takes the extra money and buys some manners with it. The work is OK, Shoe Hospital is much better and they are cheaper I just didn't feel like driving cause thus place was closer. So drive the extra miles a go to the Pro's at Shoe Hospital. The males people skills really suck!!!! read more

I was visiting from out-of-state only to realize a brand new high heeled shoe I had bought for the trip was missing the heel tip. I brought it in and they were so kind and agreed to do it in a rush since I needed it for dinner that night. Additionally, they changed the heel tip on the other matching shoe to ensure the pair matched. They charged me a VERY fair price and had them done in 2 hours. read more

Please.. don't bring your shoes here. I brought my boots into Austin Shoe Repair because one of the zippers slipped off. I was pleasantly surprised that they were only charging me $8 to repair the zipper. When I came to pick up my boots, I was horrified. The thread used around the zipper was a completely different color than it was supposed to be and the sewing was very, very sloppy. As if that wasn't bad enough, he added zipper stoppers to the top of my boot that honest to God looked like 2 gold teeth. I went back and explained to the lady that I would be needing my money back so someone could fix the mistakes they had made. The cobbler guy took off the hideous gold teeth and re-broke the zipper which was really classy. My boots are currently in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing and won't be adding any tacky embellishments. read more

I made the mistake of wearing my cute boots to Volsteads dance floor on a busy Saturday night where somebody (not me, but also it was me) dropped a tequila soda right on my boots. Needless to say I thought they were ruined and almost threw them out but wanted to give the repair shop a shot. So glad I did! They removed the water spots AND fixed the scuffs on the heel. For only 13$. A lot cheaper than new shoes. Thank you thank you! read more

The 4-star versus 5-star honestly reflects my preemptive attempt at a review more than the service of Austin Shoe Repair. My experience with them has been fantastic. It just hasn't been extensive. I've not had an extreme shoe repair need yet, so the services they've provided me have been minimal. However, they still completed the repair swiftly, thoroughly & aesthetically. I once took them a heel with the tip cracked off, not knowing they were closing for a week in 10 minutes. They fixed the heel for me in 5 minutes. Now, that's service. read more

Such a great place! My boyfriend originally took a pair of shoes there to get cleaned up and polished, and he said it was great. Of course, I had to see for myself...and I couldn't agree more. I brought in a pair of Steve Madden combat boots that had been attacked by my puppy...Which basically means, there was a huge hole in the sole, an insert in one of the shoes had been eaten, there was a small hole in the side, and the structural support of one of the heels was gone. Basically, they looked terrible. I originally was just going in to have the soles replaced so that I could wear them, and not get my socks wet if it was raining...That costed me about 30 bucks. Not bad I guess.... but this is why they get 5 stars. When I came to pick up the shoes, they fixed every single problem I had with the shoe, paid attention to all the small details that I didnt even think they could fix....and they were super friendly and pleased to do so. read more

Austin Shoe Repair is my favorite in the area. They can do everything from cleats and eyelets to resoling and restoring your handmade boots (including from most awesome Heritage Boot). If you have shoes you love, STAY AWAY. My mom came to visit and we decided to get my favorite Clarke high heels (leather and suede) re-soled and sewn, as I'd had them for a year, and worn them everyday. My mom was leaving Wednesday, so she brought them in on Saturday afternoon and said it was very important she have them finished by Tuesday. The lady PROMISED they would be done by Tuesday afternoon. That's 4 days to finish shoes. We go in on Tuesday and the lady first can't find my shoes, then tells us he hasn't started on them and they wouldn't be done till the following afternoon. Hello!? You couldn't call and tell us after you knew they wouldn't be finished? I finally get my shoes and they stay open an extra ten minutes so I can pick them up after work, and there' s a NEW HOLE in the side of my shoe. They don't look new or fixed at all, and it cost $35 dollars! My shoes are worse than they were before we went in. This place is awful. If you're willing to spend $35 to fix your shoes, go elsewhere. read more

This is the only place I take by boots now. They get it right and exceed expectations every time. It's a bit of a drive for me but anytime I've tried another place, it's been a complete waste of money. I've also had them repair a purse for me. They did a beautiful job shortening the straps, repairing the lining and zippers, and cleaning it up. It looked brand new. Highly recommend. read more

Dropped off a pair of Cole Haan dress shoes and got them back in about 3 days. Customer service was friendly and everything was received as explained during my drop-off. The sole was of equal or better quality than the original - Vibram rubber. Paid $50 which I thought was a little pricey for a pair of $150 shoes, but hey, it's better than spending another $150 (especially when you love the shoes). Satisfied customer, I'll be dropping off another pair soon. read more

A friend of mine recommended that I try out a cobbler. I went on Yelp and found another shoe repair service with higher reviews, but they were closed, so I tried out Austin Shoe Repair. While I was nervous when I saw the strip mall it was in and the modest (and mostly hidden) store front, I quickly realized that this is a family-run store that takes great pride in its work. I dropped off my shoes on Monday (December 22), realizing full well that I probably wouldn't get them back until after the holidays. There was one pair of boots that I really wanted repaired to wear on Christmas (remember, this is the 22nd!), and they gladly agreed to have my boots completed by the next day. When I came to pick up my boots, they had actually repaired all four shoes that I had dropped off and they all looked great. Two pairs of stiletto heels were repaired and the heel of two boots replaced for less than $40. I'm a believer, y'all. (Edited on 1/13/2015 - someone pointed out to me that getting a full sole replaced costs significantly more than what I paid. I would like to emphasize that it was just the heel that was replaced on my boots, not the full sole.) read more

Don't be distracted by the initial appearance of this repair shop, they are awesome at what they do. It's a little hidden gem nestled in the corner of a strip mall.
