First off plenty of parking here. You walk in and there's a kiosk that sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't so you get to talk to human being! Yay! You tell them the reason why you're here and they ask you if you have the appropriate documentation- which is nice because you don't have to wait for nothing if you forgot them. I ask you for your phone number and give you a ticket number and you get a text immediately. Plenty of room in the waiting area as it's wide open. Your number is queued up on TV and their PA system is loud enough where you can hear your number called. Every person that I've dealt with here has been very nice and professional and patient and courteous. Even when I have had to ask questions, they know the answers immediately, which is great. It's pretty straightforward. I like this location much better than the Airport Blvd location as it's a much more pleasant visit. The previous place was somewhat cramped, it had a very small waiting area, and sometimes you had to stand. It was also very loud and when they called your number you had to go walk through the maze of cubicles, kind of like a labyrinth. I never had any issues finding where I needed to go, but this layout here is much better and wide open, which is probably one of the reasons why they moved here. I'm not a fan of their new website which seems cleaner and less jargon, but there's too many clicks to get to your destination. Plus, it's also not that intuitive as it looks. And I'm also not happy that the State is now charging a $4.75 "fee" to renew your registration online, otherwise this would be a 5-star review. I used to pay around $55 to renew car registration but now it's $76. That's Bologna. But the worker bees here don't set the prices so it's not their fault. They just take your money and then you hear a loud "cash register chime" (cha-Ching!) soon after. I was just kidding about that - lol.

It's important to know what to expect for a first timer like myself. I just needed some help unloading the truck for moving into town which I knew would only take a few hours and wasn't ready to pay 'professional' movers $60+/hr. When I arrived at 1pm (time is a relevant consideration for later), a gentleman walked out from the inside to greet me in the parking lot. Asking me how many people I would need, how long, and how much I was paying (per hour). He informed me I could just take the "next two guys in line" or select two guys. When I walked in, I was quite surprised. You are put on center stage so be ready. It was a pit-type area with several rows of chairs and about 25 guys just sitting and waiting. The gentleman announced what I wanted, how long, and how much I was paying and then the hands started going up with yelps of "Hey buddy!" "right here!", "I'm strong". Sighs of unhappiness went out as soon as I picked the second guy as the others knew they wouldn't have work. I drove the two guys back to my place, they helped unload the truck. We took a few breaks where I got some of their life story over some water and sodas. Nice guys. I kept in mind that they weren't professional movers, so with a little emphasis on caution and taking it easy with the big stuff, there wasn't any drama and wall scrapings. How much you want to pay is up to you (I overpaid what I said I was going to pay). It's in cash at the end and directly to the guys and you're expected to drive them back to First Workers afterwards. KEEP IN MIND: These are people trying to get work and make a living. 1) How long are you having them for? They're hoping for a full days work and most of them show up early in the morning. If you're only doing a couple hours, they're not likely to get more work afterwards. Even if you pick them up late in the afternoon, it's likely they've been waiting all day. 2) Don't be afraid to pick who you want. While you can have the facility go in order and just assign someone, feel free to ask if someone has certain skills or past experience that may help with what you're looking for. You can also make sure you don't get someone that you don't feel comfortable with if it's for something in your home. Overall, glad the city has this place set up. Sad that there's so many people willing to work and can't get any!

The online law library has access to databases that you may not get free on your own. These resources opened doors for my research and inspired my creativity! Visiting the physical library requires me to take a couple of buses, but who knows, after the pandemic is over, I would like to visit the physical building in its splendor, when the opportunity presents itself. I love law libraries, so I love these resources. This law library didn't knock my socks off yet, but it rocks enough to earn 4 stars!

The lady who helped me was so nice & friendly, I felt like I made a friend. It was the best experience I've ever had at a government service bldg. I would love to give a shoutout to the awesome lady who helped me, unfortunately I don't remember her name. But on the receipt her employee ID is CKHOLBO. Thank you for being so sweet, so friendly, for the compliments, & the quick service. It's so nice to work with someone who smiles & treats you like a human & not just another body in line.

The reason for my visit was to file paperwork and get it notarized so that I can defer my property taxes since you can do that when you turn 65. I got here before the lunch rush on a Tuesday which meant there was no waiting and parking was available. Turning in the paperwork and getting it notarized was easy and convenient and at no cost to me. The person at the front desk was very helpful as was the notary. It seems to be a more pleasant experience to defer ones taxes with a 5% annual penalty than to actually protest ones taxes. Either way, they get their money in the end. At least it was a pleasant experience.

As soon as you enter the city you feel the eyes of the law on you. Ready to pull you over for going 3 or 4 miles over the speed limit. Which is very sad because the city of Lakeway is a wonderful place filled with great people. Too bad it's ruled by an oppressive government. The Lakeway government has created a "this is Lakeway" mentality to strike fear in the people who live and visit here. In fact the mayor kept repeating this when I met him at a house I built in Lakeway. All I wanted was clarification as to why my certificate of occupancy was denied. He could not give me a precise reason and just kept saying "this is Lakeway". Instead of being helpful and acknowledging the fact that their building codes enforcement office is overwhelmed and understaffed they have made it almost impossible to build in Lakeway. I really think they do this to discourage people from building there. They change their interpretation of the codes constantly and their office is so unorganized and mismanaged it's pathetic. Again the residents and the city it's self are beautiful but right now the government offices are a mess. I suggest buying an existing home and setting your cruse control to 30 mph lol

I came to this Fire Station for a tour with my Home School Group a few weeks ago and it was…read morewonderful. The firemen were very patient and kind to all the kids and moms. They were interactive and informative and did an amazing job holding their attention. We were able to tour the whole station, walk through the fire engine, touch some of the tools like the fire house and a heat sensing camera. While it's not uncommon for fire stations to host tours, I do feel this was one of the best stations to do it!
