Having inherited my mother's awful dental history, I have had multiple encounters with the Lakeway office. Dr. Hunsaker explains everything very well and makes sure there are no surprises. He is personable and put me at ease. When one of my implants didn't set right, he secured a refund from the manufacturer and replaced with a different model without charge. No fun going through it twice, but I'm very happy with the solution he offered. The office staff is friendly and efficient. I found this practice on google- I loved that Dr. Hunsaker is a MD DDS as this gave me extra peace of mind since I haven't always had positive dental experiences. Setting up an appt was easy. They took pics and then set up my extraction. The extraction was only ~45 min or so and I was quickly on my way home. They took such good care of me and even called the later that day to make sure I was recovering okay. From the day I first reached out to the day of my procedure it was only 20 days. Some places you have to wait forever for an appointment. All in all, very helpful and caring staff and excellent doc. Special shout out to Margot for walking me through all the steps during the consult so my anxious little heart could prepare before in advance. Highly recommend Dr. Hunsaker! read more

Great service, friendly staff, excellent work, Dr was awesome, billing team is terrible. Great office and greeted on arrival, quickly seated and diagnosed. maybe some xrays and a conversation with the Dr. Instructions on procedure and quick scheduling. Procedure went without a hitch, followups were quick and efficient. Then 2 years later I receive a bill for $650+. For a year and a half the billing team stated the insurance was dragging their feet questioning the age of my implant that needed to be removed, etc. When I received the bill and called the insurance they said the cost had exceeded the allowable coverage - thats pretty simple so why didn't Austin Oral Surgery just say that?. I get that I am the responsible party but I'm a bit annoyed it took that long to figure it out AND I didn't have a chance to use my Health Savings dollars FROM 2022! Do this part better. read more

What a joke of a practice. They never filed my claim after my surgery in Dec 2020, according to one of the people I spoke to in billing. I had paid $950 or so out of pocket and insurance covered the rest. Then I get a call in Jan 2021 of them trying to charge the full amount. I have to play phone tag with Blue Cross Blue Shield and I get it all squared away...so I thought. Then out of nowhere, I get hit with a $570 bill Jan 2022. I called to let them know the charges are inaccurate. Then it comes out from the agent that they never filed the claim until Jan 2022, hence the bill hitting then. They knock it down to $97.68, which I still did not owe. They acted like they did me some sort of giant favor, but I had confirmed with my insurance on multiple occasions that everything was squared away and that I did not owe anything. I get harassed with bills in my mail every 2 weeks throughout the year. I tried working it out with billing, but they are some of the worst human beings I've even dealt. Rude, disrespectful and horrible people. Didn't want to get sent to collections, so I was forced to pay. This practice already grossly overcharges for their services and then will come after you for a measly amount of money, like something under $100. Avoid this place. Scammers. read more

I had a rare cyst form in my upper gums, and it was growing! Dr Hunsaker did all the x-rays and sat down to explain to me the procedure needed to remove it. He took his time and allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted. During the biopsy and subsequent other surgery, he took a lot of time to make sure that I was completely deadened in that area of my gums.Tracy at the front desk helped me with billing issues and was very patient with me also. Dr Weis is professional with a dry calm reassuring demeanor. Clear Choice wanted 13,000 up front for two implants. They insisted I needed sinus lifts. This was not the case. Dr Weis worked with me to bone graft two teeth and implant another. The process was seamless and painless plus they filed insurance which Clear. Choice would not. Clear choice said that insurance pays so little that it wasn't worth their time. read more

I was referred to Dr Cunningham because I have an aversion to ANY pain and discomfort and my teeth are a mess. From the very first contact with Kristin all the way through to the X-Ray and actual extraction, I felt like these folks were a well organized and incredibly talented group of professionals. My insurance information was taken over the phone, I was able to complete all paperwork online before I even showed up, all I had to do was sign on the dotted line and wait for the doc. Dr Cunningham is a very personable and informative surgeon, he explained in detail what I should expect and was very thorough in his preparation to get me comfortable. My cracked molar would be sliced and the roots removed in three pieces. I kid you not, once we got started it was a quick buzz, a small click, and I was done. Absolutely fantastic. Painless and incredibly convenient. No hassle over insurance and a great recommendation from the good doctor himself on where I could get my other dental needs met. I went to Dr. Hunsaker after experiencing intense pain when my jaw dislocated while chewing, followed by popping and discomfort that continued for weeks afterward. A couple things really struck me about Dr. Hunsaker. First, was how well he listened, which you could tell by how spot-on his follow-up questions were. Had to bring my daughter in after a nasty fall. They were able to see on short notice. We talked over the phone and we gave them all of our insurance information, Blue Cross. After a short visit everything was fine. When we go to check out they tell us we are out of network and charge us $175 when our deductible is $15. They obviously knew that we were out of network when we spoke on the phone and for them not to tell us is unethical. read more

Dr. Hunsaker and Cherie are so caring and nice. It made a dreaded experience of having a tooth extracted a whole lot easier. Although they offered sedation or laughing gas, I had local anesthesia (numbing), and I had absolutely no pain. The numbing took about 20 minutes, then Dr. Hunsaker pulled the tooth and cleaned the root in about 5 minutes. So far, I have minimal swelling and pain. I do recommend asking questions and listening carefully to options. I am conservative, so I chose to do the minimal procedure first. read more

I had my consultation early this year and plan to have my tooth extraction done by this year. I had forgotten to make appointment until two week before Christmas. They told me that most of time slot is full due to year end when I called but the admin was so great and finally able to help me to find a free time slot on 4 days before Christmas. The surgery process start after 5 minutes when I arrived and it was done about 30 minutes for removing 5 teeth. The surgery went smoothly and I felt very comfortable throughout the process. The doctor and staff are very professional and attentive. They provided Face Ice pad and Syringe [My friend told me that I need these but I don't know where to find these]. Using Syringe after 5 days is must. The Syringe will be your buddy for couple weeks if you have your wisdom teeth remove. I think Dr Russell did excellent job on stitching up the opening. My recover phase is much better than what I expected and not as bad as what I heard from other. I realized that it was poor planning on my side to have this kind surgery right before the holiday. Anyway, I'm pleased that everything turns out fine and I still can have my Xmas brunch and dinner with my family and friends ... I'm glad that I found the right place for my oral surgery. By the way, the cost is not expensive. read more

I went into this office because my primary dentist recommended him to have my wisdom teeth removed. The office staff were decent, but not too friendly. I was early and sat down next to a young gentleman who had the consultation before me. We chatted and I took note that we both needed 2 of our 4 wisdom teeth removed according to our own dentist's opinions. When this young man came back through the waiting room on his way out, I asked him how it went. He said that he needed to make an appt to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed. Hmm... Now, it's my turn. They ask me if I'm pregnant, I say maybe, then they put the vest on me and take an x-ray anyway, saying that the vest will protect the unborn fetus, if there is one. As I'm led back to the exam room, the doctor seems nice enough, but, big surprise, I need all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed according to him, as well. I had hoped to go through the procedure "awake" that was, until one of the staff told me that it would be "really, really, really painful" to have the shots. Well, the doctor seemed nice in the beginning, by the end I got the feeling that I was a profit in his columns and all he cared about was getting me under so he could take as many teeth out as possible. I left the office, in tears, a grown woman leaving a dental consult, in tears. They made sure to shuffle me out the side door so I wouldn't walk through the lobby and disturb the other patients. I had one of my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday by Dr. Hunsaker. I was VERY apprehensive about the whole process. The staff is so wonderful, every one of them and he is really great. They got me in the chair on time and before I knew it I was waking up without that tooth and had absolutely no pain or memory of the scary process. I had absolutely no pain even post op day one.
