Austin Coding Academy is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I just completed the intro…read morecourse, and I can confidently say that the intro course alone had a direct impact on my ability to secure a new, higher paying job that I love! Yes, there are 5 coding boot camps in Austin right now. Let me tell you what sets this program apart: 1. The Staff - The leadership and instructors at this school genuinely care deeply about 2 things. First, they care about you. They want you to succeed. They want you to make more money. They want you to take care of your family. And they do their best to make that happen through curriculum, project-based teaching, and networking. Second, they care about creating a workforce of people who can code well and contribute to the world. 2. They are affordable. Do the research yourself and compare, and these guys will still come out on top. 3. Last but not least, not only is the program designed for people who work full time, it is also broken into 3 10-week sessions. Maybe you're not sure if this is what you want to do for a living. Maybe you want to try out the first course and see how you do. You can do that here because you aren't forced into a long-term and expensive commitment. No matter what your education level may be (I never finished my Bachelor's degree), you can do this! I am planning on continuing this education, and you should plan on beginning it! *They are expanding to San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston as well.*

Since the pandemic, Austin Coding Academy has really gone downhill. Last-minute schedule changes…read moreand overall disorganization have become the norm. It feels like they still haven't figured things out, and it's been pretty disappointing. The curriculum feels outdated and links to a bunch of youtube videos, which I could have seen for free. Plus, some of my peers aren't where they need to be, so it makes group projects suck. They seem to care more about the money than actual student success. Most of the positive reviews are from years ago. The place used to have a great reputation, but now it's just not the same. Until they sort things out, I wouldn't recommend Austin Coding Academy. There are other coding bootcamps out there with much better reputations and outcomes for a similar price.

Bill Blackstone and the Galvanize crew are fantastic. They keep the space running great and full of interesting community events every week. Helpful, friendly, smart staff! The members are tremendous too. I've made many great new friends and business associates here. I've started new projects with members and built great relationships. Can you tell I like it?? Definitely worth checking out.

I had no previous experience yet, I've learned so much in the last 4 months. They have great instructors, and the curriculum is well designed so you can have a very good experience throughout the program. We have instructors during the whole 6 months every single day, from 9 to 5 pm. They explain to us the topic of the day/week and then we work in different projects that helps us to practice the new stuff that we learn every day. The main reason that I choose Galvanize over other Bootcamps, is the timeline. Being a 6 months program I think offers you more time to wrap your head around new concepts and new languages such as JavaScript. In addition, you are a Galvanize member and get free access to the building even during the weekends. Another great thing is the support that they give you during your job hunting. They help you with the resume, cover letters and how to prepare for interviews. Personally, I've enjoyed very much my experience here, and I have nothing but great things to say about Galvanize.

The tactical/weapons training world has some pretty insufferable personalities but Mike and Branden, the two instructors, are easy to get along with and also very vigilant about keeping people safe and everything pointed in the right direction. They set a good tone for the atmosphere of the class which is very important when you're dealing with firearms training. I grew up shooting guns since around 8-9 years old but I still benefited enormously from training. Everyone picks up bad habits with all kinds of skills whether it's writing, driving, or weapons manipulation. If you own guns it is your responsibility, dare I say, "duty" to get some good training and get some new pathways going in your brain that will enable you to operate your weapon safely and effectively. Odds are you would never have to use your skills (or lack of) to defend yourself but if you do get training with a good outfit like Hex I promise you won't regret it because you'll have fun, feel more confident, and eliminate some of the silly, magical thinking that plagues so many gun owners. You can't go wrong.

After getting my CHL, I've taken a few other classes in the central Texas area to try and build my expertise, but my experience with Hex Tactical was so positive that I needed to get out here and recommend them. As a civilian who doesn't get their rocks off playing pretend soldier, I really appreciated the Hex Tactical approach. No yelling (unless it was required for the drill) - just a safe, positive, fun atmosphere that allowed me to really step up my level of expertise. I've done some work on my own with more experienced friends, but these classes got me shooting, reloading, and clearing malfunctions faster and more accurately than I thought possible for a civilian like me. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I highly recommend Hex Tactical. I've taken two classes so far, will definitely take more classes in the future, and will be recommending Hex Tactical to every friend of mine who owns a firearm.

(The environment, the expenses, the ridiculous tuition, etc.) So, needless to say, I was reluctant to spend more money than I had on a four month course, but I can honestly say it was more than worth it. Everyone I came in contact with at EMTS was beneficial to my course completion. I cannot boast enough about the instructors. Each and every one of them went above and beyond to help each student, especially our lead instructor. Our lead instructor spent an incredible amount of time outside of the classroom working on aids and reviews to help us. I'm not even sure how many extra hours he put in. He truly went the extra mile for us, simply because he cared about our education and futures. Tutoring and instructors hours were also always offered if any of us needed help. This course isn't easy though. It's four months of heavy content coming at you fast. It's definitely intense, and you have to stay on top of the ball to be successful. But if you listen to the instructors advice, take them up on tutoring and instructor hours, do your homework, and study study study, you will succeed in this program. I cannot recommend this program enough, and can honestly say that I would not feel nearly as prepared to be an EMT without this course.

These courses might be great for someone who has their company paying for it but to me they're extremely overpriced if you're footing the bill and looking for a career change of any kind. Goes way too fast and it's just not likely for a 10 week course coming from no experience to become proficient enough to get a decent job in the field. The "advisor" told me no experience was necessary and the "front desk girl just finished that course and got a job". To me it feels like a lot of the for profit schools that tell you all you can do and charge a ton. There are basically free sites/courses that can teach you the same thing. I messed up and I accept that which is why I'm leaving this review to help the next guy/girl.

But most importantly the bar is lower going in and is lower going out. They are good at marketing. And it's still expensive. The right way to do it is to learn all the basic stuff yourself online and then apply to a higher end camp. Don't fall for the hype. Like all camps, you get out what you put in. Oh, all these camps aren't 12 weeks of teaching. They are 2-3 hrs a day of teaching for the first six weeks. All the rest is you teaching yourself and the last six weeks is doing group projects with randoms. Hope you get lucky there. The first week is HTML CSS - the very basics. So really 5 weeks half time. So About $100 an hour for shared tutors. There are so many 5 star reviews but you should do your homework and look at it critically too. Yes it does work out well for some people. It works. The cost is out of line but the truth is 80% of people are not going to be able to teach themselves and not keep getting stuck or lost. Look at the chairs. The other camps have nice office chairs. GA has dinky chairs. Yeah, saved some money and crammed in more people. But real programming involves huge time commitments. You need to be comfortable. See the attitude difference.
