Hello, I finished this class about 2 weeks ago and will give you an in depth report on the class and how it went for me when I took it, I finished the class with an A, this class is not impossible, far from it, but you will need to commit to it if you want to succeed in it. (TDLR below) -IT IS FAST PACED- If you are looking for the fasted class to get in and get out, then this class is for you, if you need more time to learn things and get the hang of them, this class is not for you. ( most classes range from 4-6 months, this class is a little less than 3 months) -IT IS NOT EASY- This class is not an easy class, don't expect to be able to just skim over the chapter and come to class, you will need to put in the hours to learn the material. There are after hours almost everyday open to all the students who want to review tests, quizzes, need more help understanding a concept, ect. But you have to take those options, along with reading the chapters till you understand them, not just expecting it to be covered in class. -THIS CLASS WILL PREP YOU FOR THE NREMT- This classes final exam is much harder then the NREMT. The quizes you will take in the class are each exceptionally hard, but don't worry they do not account for much on your grade average, they are there to show you what areas you need to improve on, as well as showing you ways the NREMT will try to trick you. I averaged about a 75% on quizzes and still made a 90% in the entire class. -GRADING- There are a many reviews for this academy saying the grading matrix is too hard, its really not, you can afford to fail almost every quiz, score a 75% on half the exams, and still pass the class, the grading matrix is set up to give you a ton of leeway for the harder parts of the class. As long as you do your homework and read the chapters, you can pass. They give you 2 retakes for the exams in case you fail, extra credit, and tell you what will be on the exams. My class started with 30 people, about 15 finished the course, those who did not finished failed out for one of two reasons, attendance or not studying/doing the homework. Only 3 people who failed out for grades were actually trying in the class and needed extra help, the rest either A were not reading the chapters well, or B not going to office hours or using the help given to them, most were both. !!!--Every person who read the chapters and showed up to office hours (with the exception of 1 or 2 people) passed the class, even those who were struggling, failing every quiz, used both of their retakes, and didn't grasp the content very well, passed the class. tdlr USE THE RESOURCES GIVEN TO YOU, YOU WILL BE FINE IF YOU DO SO. those who didnt failed out and left 1 star reviews saying the class was too hard--!!! You are given an absolute ton of information and material to help you pass the class in the website they give you access to when you enroll into he class, you will need to use it, they have study guides for every quiz, exam, and final for the class along with any piece of information you will need to know to get through the class. TDLR. If you cannot give the this class 2 or 3 hours a day to study, cant show up to office hours and read the chapters, do not take this class, take an easier one. If you can and you really want a quick class that will set you up for paramedic school or straight into NREMT then into a job, then you will benefit from this class. --Over all I loved the class and would recommenced it to anyone who want to go straight into paramedic school or into a job.-- Below are areas the class can improve on, and things to look out for if you decide to take this class. 1. There are like 20 instructors who each teach he class differently, some just read from the power point, others compare the material to what you will find in the field, some skip the entire power point entirely to focus on skills, some care a lot about the students and will go an extra mile for them, some genuinely don't give a sh*t about them, some are very kind, others are rude and apathetic. You don't know who or what type of teacher you will get with each day, that was a common complaint in the class, it was too difficult to follow along with the content when each day someone new was presenting it in their own new way. There needs to be more uniformity to the teaching styles, I scored the best on exams and quizzes when Aimee or Tito went over the content, and scored the worst on Exams and quizzes when Roxanne taught. Don't let instructors skip half of the lecture because they don't feel like covering it *cough* Roxanne *cough*. 2. Move patient assessment skills to both the beginning of class and the end. Students need a mental template of how patient interactions will go when they start the class because the book teaches them the material in a way centered around signs and symptoms found in patient assessment. Personally, I would not have gone anywhere else for my EMT Certification! The director, Assistant Director, and Instructors are 100% dedicated to this program and do not "just let you fail" because they want your money. They will pull you aside, create additional days for you to come in and practice scenarios and skills to get you to pass. If you show that you sincerely care about becoming a quality medic, they will care too and help you to the finish line. Do your homework. AND YES, all the exams are straight from the book... do the Exam Review Outlines and you should pass with flying colors. Oh, and seriously do the homework. it's only 4 months for the EMT program, put in 100% effort for 4 months does not seem that difficult if it is something you truly care about :). The negative reviews you read regarding this Institution are from individuals who did not put their all into the course and expected to be handed a certification. The course was not designed to spit out as many EMT's and Paramedic's as possible... It is designed to pass those who show dedication, commitment, and perseverance. I completed my EMT-B training via EMTS's online course (I was living in a different state at the time). While researching my options beforehand I was skeptical of any online training program's ability to teach what I perceive to be a very hands-on skill set. Nevertheless, I was swayed by the Nealands' apparent professionalism and flexibility and decided to "take the risk." I was very pleased with my experience. The team was very responsive (typically same-day responses to my emails) and positive in their demeanor. The in-person skills training was done by a rotation of instructors, which helped provide a varying perspective on how to be successful in an arguably very varying field. My only complaint has less to do with EMTS and more to do with EMS in general: there is a lack of standardization of material, and traditional text (such as that used by EMTS, Mistovich's "Prehospital Emergency Care") is somewhat disorganized, redundant, and self-contradictory (normal vital sign values for the same demographic were different in different chapters, treatment for the same conditions changed between chapters, etc.). I don't blame EMTS for this, but their course unfortunately is affected by this larger EMS issue. With regards to results, I passed the NREMT-B in 62 questions and secured a full-time job almost immediately thereafter. No complaints. Summary: Pros: - Very professional, kind, flexible team. - Great skills training. Cons: - Uses what may be the best EMT-B textbook available, which is unfortunately less than ideal (general EMS issue). I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a career in EMS or medicine in general. read more

Absolutely terrible. If I could use a phrase to describe this school I would use the phrase "false sense of hope". I wish I would have done more research and not entered into this disgusting online course. its not even a real class. You are given a book to read word for word and then take quizzes and exams on the book. That is the entire course in a nutshell. The exams unfortunately have zero to do with the book material and are not VALIDATED for authenticity until after the students take them! i cant even make this up if i try. you take an exam then the teacher goes back and willy nilly "throws out" questions that are "no good". huh what? The teacher does not log in for about 7 days at a time. Only emails to say you have an exam coming up. And here is the shocking part. I found out after being "kicked" from the class for not passing the unvalidated exams that supposedly 2/5 students are not passing which makes that a 40% fail rate at this class. I have a feeling however that its actually more and there is a 50%+ failure rate. This "class" is impossible to pass and the instructor knows this. That is why they charge you in full up front and have a no refund policy . They want to do as little work as possible to ensure you do not pass so they can cash in with no effort. ****Watch for her to reply with some lame excuse that their unvalidated exams are a requirement to pass as part of their school policy. Any monkey with a pen can write up a bogus contract and "policy" and call it good. DO NOT sign anything they give you. Better yet do not even enter into this course. Mark my words you will be highly sorry and out of $4000 with no new career to make your money back! P.S. Dont take my word for it read the other reviews for this garbage course. I WILL be figuring out how to report this course and have it terminated because I have emails from LAURA the instructor stating that they do not validate exams until after students take them. I would stay far, far away from this academy...unless you enjoy an abundance of power point presentations, or unless you're prepared to be dropped from the class if you fail (under a 75) 2 tests, or unless you are prepared to be dropped from the class if your final average is not an 80. When I say dropped, that means bye bye to the $2500 or so that you payed for the class. Our son had a 79 going into the final, he made a 76 on the final and was dropped from the course by the time he got to his car in the parking lot. Needless to say, this is not a student friendly academy. We ignorantly did not do our research and paid the price. Do your research. There are many other better options out there. read more

I was a student in the online EMT class this past summer (2018), and this program allowed me to be very successful!! It was a lot of work with important deadlines, so it took a lot of self-motivation to stay on track with the coursework. Matt and Laura Nealand were amazing!! Both responded to emails very quickly and were always willing to help in any way to ensure the success of their students!! Even after finishing the course, they have been helpful with any and all questions I had, and I have kept them updated with my progress through passing the NREMT exam, applying for my state certification, and getting hired! The skills training and clinical/field rotations required in-class training for about 3 weeks. All instructors for the skills training were well-qualified and awesome! I feel like EMTS Academy well-prepared me to be a successful EMT in the world of EMS. :) I would HIGHLY recommend their program!!! read more

Went there for EMT-Basic and was very impressed--they are the best of the best! I've gone back for my AEMT and Paramedic because I want the best EMS education and that really only happens in a brick-and-mortar, cheeks-in-seats school. EMTS is extremely well-run with outstanding instructors (Williamson County EMS--top-ranked nationally) and they really care about their EMS classes and Fire Academy. They will go the extra mile for you to make sure you understand the concepts and can do the skills and make sense of it all. Even after I graduated and went to 2 other online schools (which proved to be a big mistake), EMTS worked with me to help me resolve problems and issues with my new schools. Can't say enough great things about this school--I'm definitely going back there for Paramedic! Their heart-felt commitment to quality really shows--I am learning things I didn't get in the online schools. Online schools for EMS/Fire look very convenient, but you need to ask a lot of hard questions before you sign up, such as: 1. Where are your clinical sites? This will include a hospital and an EMS agency. If their hospital and EMS agency aren't close to you, be prepared for lots of driving or expensive plane trips. One fellow student was faced with spending $6,000 in travel expenses for her skills sessions and testing (from Colorado to Texas.) 2. How much in-person skills practice and testing is required, and WHERE is it? One online school required 2 in-person skills weekends plus 1 in-person testing weekend. If you don't live close to their sites, costs can really add up. 3. How often can you interact with the instructors? My two online schools discouraged phone calls--only contact with instructors was via email (they took days to respond) or weekly chats. Also, be aware that online schools are very sensitive to the fact that they are often criticized as inadequate, so mine went overboard in the other direction with way more requirements than a normal school would have--so it was MORE work. This was by far the best course I took even including college. I learned so much and created bonding relationships with my classmates. The skills were great and was one of my favorite parts of the course. My lead instructor Billy was an inspiration to helping me achieve my goals. Went through their EMT program and it gave me the confidence to go straight into paramedic school. Every instructor is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the administration is more than fair with their policies and rules. They truly give you every opportunity to succeed. The curriculum is rich with useful, current knowledge of prehospital medicine that directly translates to the knowledge you'll need in the field. I have had a great experience at this school. First of all, all the instructors currently work in EMS as well as teach, so you can be sure that everything they teach is up to date. They are friendly and supportive. The quizzes and tests really prepare you for your NREMT. We practiced live scenarios and had a ton of hands on training. When I took the NREMT I was shocked at how prepared I felt due to the thoroughness of the class. I would much rather attend an academy entirely dedicated to EMS education as opposed to a community college that has an EMT class tacked on. read more

I took the EMT in-class program at EMTS. I can't say enough good things about EMTS. The whole experience was great from day one. All the instructors I had were very professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. They really went above and beyond for me and other students in my class. Anything I ever had questions about or needed help with, they never hesitated to work with me. The resources and equipment are also excellent. They have everything necessary to get you hands-on experience with the tools you will be using in the field, in addition to the textbook material. The skills you will have to perform using the equipment is the funnest part of the course in my opinion. You do have to spend a lot of time in class with lectures going over textbook material and PowerPoints, but that's pretty standard in every EMT course. The leadership running the program is also top-notch. They are very professional, helpful, and fair. They absolutely work with you and give you every opportunity to succeed. That being said, there are expectations and standards that you must meet throughout the course or you could end up being dropped from the program. All of these expectations and standards are made very clear at the beginning of the course. This course is not "easy" but if you work hard, put in the effort, and use the available resources provided to you, then you will do fine! Everyone has different learning styles, but (at minimum) if you read the textbook, do all the homework, and seek the help of your instructors when you need assistance, then you should do great. Just be aware, this is not a course that you can skate by without studying and working hard. As an EMT, you will have a great responsibility in caring for other people's healthcare needs. That's why this course, and other EMT courses, are so demanding. It's to ensure that you are genuinely prepared for the demands and responsibilities that will be placed upon you in the field. I can confidently say that after taking the EMTS EMT program, I am prepared for work as an EMT-Basic in the field. I started this class at the beginning of 2020 and got a good 2 months in before covid hit and the in-person class was moved to an online format. As someone who has failed out of quite a few online college courses, I was very worried about how I personally would manage to pass. The teachers did an amazing job continuing our education and helping us with the transition along the way. The administration was helpful to those in need and considerate about people's circumstances during the ongoing pandemic. I really could go on and on about this place, it was truly amazing! Honestly, this place gave me the confidence to go back to college despite the dramatic circumstances of my time with them, they showed me that I could do it and be successful. This school really cares about preparing you for this field (they set standards/expectations/boundaries early..... FOLLOW THEM!!) and if you put in the effort you will be happy with your results! read more

I had been in college a year prior to taking the EMT B course, and ended up walking away because it just wasn't for me. (The environment, the expenses, the ridiculous tuition, etc.) So, needless to say, I was reluctant to spend more money than I had on a four month course, but I can honestly say it was more than worth it. Everyone I came in contact with at EMTS was beneficial to my course completion. I cannot boast enough about the instructors. Each and every one of them went above and beyond to help each student, especially our lead instructor. Our lead instructor spent an incredible amount of time outside of the classroom working on aids and reviews to help us. I'm not even sure how many extra hours he put in. He truly went the extra mile for us, simply because he cared about our education and futures. Tutoring and instructors hours were also always offered if any of us needed help. This course isn't easy though. It's four months of heavy content coming at you fast. It's definitely intense, and you have to stay on top of the ball to be successful. But if you listen to the instructors advice, take them up on tutoring and instructor hours, do your homework, and study study study, you will succeed in this program. I cannot recommend this program enough, and can honestly say that I would not feel nearly as prepared to be an EMT without this course. read more

I could not have been happier with my decision to go to EMTS Academy for my EMT-Basic. The instructors were wonderful, especially Billy (our lead), Nate, and Drew. This class was hard - there was a lot of material in four months. This could have been overwhelming, but the instructors spent hours and hours making themselves available outside of class for extra tutoring, etc. Billy even went beyond that, and made his own reviews for each quiz and exam. I really think it was each instructor's passion for the subject and their jobs that made this course. Not only did they make the material relatable and understandable, they were able to transfer it to the real world. I just took, and passed, the NREMT, and am looking forward to continuing on to Paramedic. I would recommend EMTS to anyone. read more

My daughter attended this Academy. She took out a loan & paid for her tuition in full. She struggled with absolutely no help or direction with her courses. She was great at clinicals, not so great with written tests. She was dropped because of two low tests & was never offered help in order for her to complete the course. I have taught trade school in the past & went above & beyond to help anyone I knew needed the extra help in order for them to be successful. The instructors here are terrible and they do not care a bit about the students. Shame on them for robbing people of they're future & money. Not to mention the threats they send you via email to drop you from the course. They throw a random drug screening on you which is completely normal, but in no way make it convenient for the student to get it done especially if they work a full time job. DO NOT GO HERE, you will be wasting your time...................... read more
