Bobbi and Kierra in the front office made getting set up in their system and starting with an instructor a breeze. All their planes are Cessna 172s, including a couple with G1000s. Availability isn't a challenge, and the aircraft are well kept by a friendly maintenance team. Every instructor I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable. I most recently worked with Landyn, who I highly recommend. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. For career-minded pilots, being able to fly out of KAUS and get comfortable in a busy Class C airspace alongside airline traffic is a huge bonus. I can easily recommend Above & Beyond for anyone starting their path to the airlines or who simply wants to learn to fly.

Greg is not only the owner, but he is one of the instructors and maintenance people in charge of keeping the planes up and running. He was very kind, patient and professional. I really enjoyed the non-rushed, no hard sale approach he takes. Their execution is, "Well, what they said before doesn't apply. Now that we have you the process is going to take twice or three times as long." For any potential students reading this, the schedule is said to be 10 hours a day 6 days a week. This is not the case. You do need to have your personal study time, but this schedule is not realistic. You do not fly that much. On a good week maybe 4 days of flying. Others have gone 3 weeks without flying. You sign a contract that says you cannot have a job because of this. This makes it hard to live unless you have financial help from someone. If you do get a job, your school schedule is only released to you at 6pm the day before. You will never know if you can work due to the crazy thinking behind the schedule. A 6pm day before hurts more students than helps students. This causes anxiety and stress. It would be simple to set up a weekly schedule, but this is not their way of doing things. In general, you do not get anyone to hold your hand through the flight training process. This is true at most pay as you go schools and non-university flight training schools. You need to stick up for yourself because no one will do it for you. You might find a CFI here or there that will help guide you but for the most part you are alone. Aeroguard is not able to keep employees long. I am not sure of the reason why but there is constant turnover in the local school's office. This hurts the students as there is never consistency for leadership. I would only recommend Aeroguard if you have exhausted all other options. You will get your certifications but expect two to three times the time sales tell you. If you are told 8 months, it will probably be 16-20 months.

This company will scam you out of all your money, prevent you from passing tests but still charge…read moreyou $1200 per test, schedule flights so rarely that you are unable to pass each license in a reasonable amount of time, and prevent you from having any type of job due to the unpredictability of schedules that are often released as little as one day before. They show obvious favoritism towards certain students and fail to properly prepare students for tests (providing inaccurate information that later leads to a failed test that is given by a proctor hired outside of Aeroguard). This information needs to be more available to potential students. Please don't make the same mistake and waste your valuable time and money! They do not care about your success as a pilot, they just want your money and will ruin any chances for a career while bankrupting you. Every bad review, rare as they may be, is correct.

He is sensitive to noise so when we arrived they made sure the batteries in his noise cancelling headset were fresh. My grandson had a wonderful time on the flight. We flew over our house which is in Georgetown and did a tour of downtown Austin. My grandson also enjoyed looking at the planes in the hanger.
