I really debated whether I should write this review and I decided it's necessary…read more I, and my husband, are both products of parochial and private education. We always believed that when or if we had a child/children, they would be entitled to the same. Daughter came along and we were loathe to put her in a public school environment - we were just plain stupid. Per the recommendation of many at the time, we enrolled our daughter into Saint John Vianney. We also joined the parish community. Things were OK initially. It seemed like every decent teacher she had used this school as a jumping off point to get into a public school system, which it was. The fund raisers and the tuition were excessive. Really excessive. Teachers came and went, as did principals. Breaking point for us was one month out of our daughters 8th grade graduation...she was headed to Nardin. Class size is exceptionally small. Families that run the school, are on the board and have the say as to what is acceptable are few as well, however these familes do set the bar. My daughter was harrassed by one of the board members' children. I don't pay the big bucks to have a bible thumping/reading numnuts give me crap. I complained to the so called "principal" at the time and was told, verbatim, "if I don't see or hear it, it's not happening". Moved daughetr to a public middle school in May of her graduating year. Received calls from "principal" threatening to forward "info" (????) to Nardin to make it difficult for her to adjust. And this is the school whose motto is "Where Faith and Knowledge Meet"?

YUCK!!!! This review is based upon a fundraiser. A Polish Dinner that absolutely sucked…read more Polish food is my comfort food. I grew up in a Polish household. I've dealt with some unexpected issues. And here I am. Expecting decent food and getting crap. Babcia's pierogi. Sorry, sucks. Sweet and Sour cabbage? Canned red cabbage with NO FLAVORING!!!! No vinegar, no sugar. Red stuff. Golumbki, one, looks like a poor attempt at a weird, Polish taco Enough said. This might be called a Polish Dinner I call it a garbage plate.

During training , couple people told me to "stand my ground" dont take her crap. (I was a pre k assistant for the pre k 4). The very first day of setting up the pre school teacher would not let me help with anything. (She kept telling me to go on multiple breaks) . When school started I was never told what my duties were except for washing the tables. As I would wash the tables, Prek 4 teacher would yell , if she saw one dry spot. I therefore made sure to wash tables 3 times. During morning circle time I would join in with the activities , she told me not to that, when she put music on or at end of day when they had free time I would play with the children , I was told not to do that. This was ongoing and getting worse. I always did backpacks one at a time ( and I mean I check it 3 times to be sure)!! The Pre K 4. Teacher then said I didn't do back packs right so she told me not to do them anymore! I'm sorry she lied!! I did one by one and doubled checked everything!! Then when I finally had enough of her talking about me and her constant yelling and lying, I went to the principal. We had a meeting. In this meeting. Pre K 4 teacher lied and said things like "teachers would say hi to you and you would just ignore them" that is not my charter to do that/ EVER!?. My last straw was when a male teacher came down on a buddy day , but came down wrong day, The Pre K4 teacher could not just say it's ok can you come back on right day. No she continued to talk about him behind his back and wouldn't stop! "I said nicely can you please let it go im sure he didn't mean it, " but she didn't. When children do not follow and draw lines the way she wants she gets very mad with them and sometimes "Snaps" at them (with words). Two of the boys were afraid of the class bathroom , she would get mad and snippy . I was able to get them to use inside class potty by just talking to them. When we took children outside to play. It was me that ran around and played with the children. I owned a Pre K for 25 years I know how important it is for children to play and see their teachers out there playing games with them ( two of their favorites where " London Bridges and Ring around the Rosie). In ending , I'm sure the Pre K4 teacher is a good person, but I should have been given this info. About her when i started and ways to handle this. I sent Principal a text about my concern after our meeting and that I would like to be put somewhere else, she there was no where else and fired me. She used the excuse that I called in several days. Yes I did call in . I was at mercy with server covid and I have the papers for it. I was out, I believe almost two weeks from it. This was about the fact she was not going /could not do anything about the pre k 4 teacher. This was not ok. I deserved to know about this pre k teacher up front and helpful ways to deal with it. This has cost me my house and I have a young child. This Pre k 4 teacher should not be teaching with servity of her issues.(yes it's spelled wrong because I'm human and imperfect and that's how my GOD made me! I'm ok with that!,

Please let me get a second job to pay for naptime. We finally put my/our taxes to use. Chloe was to attend public school kindergarten. Oh the shame! Clarification - daughter has lived with us since 2011. Two children in tow. Daughter attended parochial. Allendale is our appointed district however it shares a space with West Elementary. Essentially, kinda maybe the same school however I am not that well versed in Public School vernacular. I was not initially pleased. I felt that perhaps Chloe was a bit too smart mouth upon her return home from school. I guess I forgot what annoying little creatures children can be. I pushed to switch to a Charter School. It didn't happen, my review has been posted. Negatively. Bottom line. Chloe reads like a trooper. Understands math better than I - I have the advantage of an abacus!! I went to her Kindergarten graduation yesterday and I was reduced to tears. Simple presentation, hotter than you can imagine, however nicely put together! Best part, I got to visit the actual classroom. There are three for Allendale Kindergarteners and they are all so homey and cool! Not like the icy rows of learning from the ill educated Nuns of my Catholic School days where a switch was quick to get those knuckles! Only, of course, if your teaching Sister was not asleep at the wheel - as often was the case. The room. Wee little tables, arced. Not too many children. Not a super large room. Everyone can get the attention they need, if they need it. Everything was encased inside this little learning paradise. No lockers, cubbies. A cute little transgender bathroom with little fixtures. Books, and many of them. I could not ask for anything more for a learning environment for a child. And did I say HUGE windows with a view to paradise?? Where the deer play! Transoms that open to allow fresh, circulating air?? I think this will work.

Nardin, I believe, has changed. It's wonderful for an education and has rated number one for many years in the parochial high school element. They've lost their personality. It's all about maintaining status. My daughter chose this school for the wrong reasons. It's cool location. I prepaid her freshman year and was beset by calls from her guidance counselor saying that she is just not up to par. She is not good enough to stay. No offer of reimbursement for tuition paid...just remove her. Also, her purse was taken. Nardin not responsible. The agnst that this small school caused was long lasting. Her lost purse, sans cell fone and personal touch cafeteria card, was returned albeit 4 months later. Guidance counselor is long gone, I believe her sole purpose in life was to bother individuals. Her office, in the lower part of the building, was the smoking lounge when I attended. Cool school, be careful.
