Came to Rosario Varela during our Grenada stay over and enjoyed the foods and a couple drinks. The…read moreatmosphere is rustic (almost American western) but features a pretty neat menu with bites we had yet to experience. We started the meal with some sangrias. Admittedly they were a little weak but the fresh fruits on top were a nice touch, especially the muscat grape! My favorites of the night was one of the fatty slices of pork off the "from the land" sampler (possibly the pork dewlap) and the torrenzos. The dewlap was tender and so flavorful! Their aged Cecina de león was also very good. The burrata and caper berries were my favorite additional accoutrements on this platter. As for the torrenzo, wow! It was sliced crispy pork belly served with a sweet and sour green mojo sauce. You should definitely try this dish. For a unique dish, we opted for the courgette pappardelle which were thin slices of zucchinis marinated in citrus, pineapple gel, pesto, and pepitas. It seemed so simple but it was super refreshing! When it came to service, it was slow. Definitely an at your pace kind of spot. If you don't wave the staff over, they will not come. Period. When we left close to 9:30pm there was a long line out the door so it's clearly a popular spot! Glad we came!

We ordered the red sangria which I really enjoyed but there is a lot of ice so you might want to tell them to go easy on the ice. The bathrooms were clean and beautifully decorated as well as the Decour of the restaurant. We had a lot of dishes but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of everything. We ate: The octopus (2 days in a row!) The pork ribs on the bone The meat and burrata platter Service was nice and well paced. They didn't rush us, but heads up- bring a person that speaks Spanish because in this part of town their English is limited.

The menu here is massive, I can't blame them since guests come from different parts of the world. The British part of the group decided to have continental dishes, while our family from New Zealand chose Spanish paella while I, decided to go for shrimp curry with basmati rice. We also ordered 2 bottles of champagne for the celebration. The service is fast and efficient, dishes are of good quality. This place is recommended for a big groups with different food preferences.

Location is right in front of the ocean, only cut off by the equally charming boardwalk. The setting gives you a bit of a Caribbean feel, which is nice. Staff is quite busy, so be prepared for a little wait, but it's still fine. Service was friendly and our dog was welcome here as well. We ordered the grilled Seabream and the fried cod. Both dishes were very nicely presented. A bottle of white wine with. The fish was fresh, but both meals tasted really bland and for us quite a bit too much on the healthy side. It is - the owner was there for quite a while - probably a bit Californian-inspired. Nothing really wrong with it, but just not that special. The dessert - a spanish orange/almond cake - was really good though. It was still fun to dine here. Location is great - atmosphere as well. But judging the food it is mediocre. I would come back - but just for a bunch of drinks.
