What we were super happy about is that this cafe offers traditional diner/breakfast-y foods but they also offer Filipino breakfasts!! Matcha Latte 1.5/5 okay so,, there was negative matcha in this. However, it somehow ended up tasting like a chai latte?? Which I also like so while I did not mind it my rating is based on the lack of matcha Eggs your Way 4/5, solid egg breakfast, nothing super special but not bad and enjoyed the filling meal Filipino breakfast dish 5/5, ok so my friend forgot the name of this specific dish but, please note the photo below and show some staff if you would like to order. This was one of the best meals he had in all of NZ so yes, we absolutely recommend!!

Unfortunately it was raining so didn't get to truly walk around and explore, but it is a quaint place with plenty eateries. We decided on Stone Oven bakery and cafe since it looked like a lot of locals were dining. I am so glad we came to eat here! The service has been so good and friendly. Chatting with the employees made me feel very welcomed. We ordered Hoki Breakfast (their version of egg's Benedict on sweet potato rosti), Fish and Chips, and Jenny Craig (Rich whipped cream in a bun that was covered in cinnamon sugar). Hoki Breakfast's sweet potato rosti was very nice! A wonderful twist to the traditional Benedict. Fish and Chips was so delicious! Fish was crisp, and really tender inside. Jenny Craig, surprisingly not that sweet, but very satisfying to eat. Loved the service and the food!

Otherwise, they also have other alcoholic beverages along with some beers on taps. The freshies from Altitude Brewing -- namely the annual Hazy IPA, "Cones of Gratitude", brewed with Riwaka from Eggers Hops (ICONIC kiwi hop butt logo) -- was ordered in earnest, its dank, passion fruity notes savored to max effort. Probably my favorite NZ-style IPA to be had. I much preferred the Altitude beers on tap to the Snakebite concoction, the cider being quite natural, slightly fermented, and a little too funky. In addition to beers, food is to be had with pretty much every Asian cuisine under the sun. We had some Tumeric Chicken Kebabs which were a little dry and room temp though the peanut sauce was a yummy and required pairing. Both had fresh ingredients with just the right amount of spicy flavor. The portions were generous and filling. Atmosphere was cozy. Figuring out that we needed to order at the counter was a bit confusing, and gathering details about the drink offerings was a little harder than it needed to be. Overall, I recommend Snakebite as a place to try when visiting Franz Josef.
