She understood exactly what I needed and even said I didn't need to cut as much length as I thought (my hair wasn't in as bad of shape as I perceived). Botched Blonde - Meghan Murphy Let's start at the beginning. A professional stylist should of set the stage, expectation, and cost. I had been going to Meghan for over 2 years, with no complaints- she covered my grays beautifully - and is long time acquaintance, and past co-worker. So the familiarity and trust was built, and was taken for granted. I requested to start the transition to blonde- I went in expecting balayage, foils, and root coverage.... maybe a 2 1/2 hours - longer than my typical hour appointment. The pictures attached tell the story... that 1st appointment was over 5 hours, and had the receptionist or Meghan communicated that in advance it would of most certainly raised questions. ..Fast forward to the appointment- the service +a $28 product and tip= $446 (yes, I tipped -as I had to leave with wet hair and did not see the extent of incompetence) I reached out to my stylist to inform them of the yellow/orange brassy tones, dark chunks, and stripes-asking for an correction appointment...that's when things went from bad to horrific. Meghan asked peers and management for guidance- and then ignored what they said- the result-My hair turned GREEN, again the photo doesn't do it justice-her words there are "mossy tones" as she used baking soda and stripping shampoo. I was horrified and she was apologetic- trying my best to be gracious I requested a group chat with ownership and Meghan to find out how/who could fix this and make it right- one owner informed me that - one of the two of them would be at my next appointment. Unfortunately that didn't happen, however I was assured that what was needed to fix it my hair was discussed. She then used a sulfur smelling stripping treatment in hopes of removing all the green - and a covered with a toner-and I now have orange hair- like sun in 80's orange with only hints of green. I expected at the very least, when clearly lacking talent/skill she would be humble enough to take the advice and guidance from those who are capable. A call to ownership resulted in $214 of my hard earned money being refunded... I actually had to ask, and was not given a full refund -that's ridiculous. The final blow was the attached meme Meghan posted and then an owner liked it - during this hair trauma!! . (The last snarky post on her professional page was 2017) so quite naturally I took offense- or perhaps I'm not her only victim of zero accountability This is the final straw and the catalyst to the public review a complete lack of compassion, accountability, and skill. 6+ inches of damaged hair had to cut:( read more

I've been coming to Auric for about 8 months now. The people at the front desk are always kind and polite. They provide water, tea, or coffee. Most importantly, my stylist is Brittany. She is the best. She made me feel comfortable on my first visit and is very open to my ideas - which is always appreciated since it's my hair at the end of the day. I had a shapeless short cut when I first came in and I was looking for a mullet and I couldn't have been happier with the cut. Now months later I'm growing my hair out into a shag. Emailed the other day to make an appointment. Never been before. Was told to call before my appointment and set up my file, but the time was reserved for me. Called to set it up, was placed on hold twice. The lady who answered my call laughed at me and told me the stylist had already left, and that I called to late. I didn't know I needed to give 3-5 business days for a shampoo and cut? She was very rude and basically told me I had called to late, even tho there was an hour until my appointment? Durring the time of my visit to Auric salon, I was experimenting with my hair color. I had this faded blue/green in my hair that wouldn't budge, and I wanted to go pink. At the time I was attending school in Eugene, and I would usually wait till I went back home to California to get my hair done. But graduation was approaching, my hair looked awful, and I didn't have the time to go back to California just for my hair. I don't trust many people to bleach and dye my hair, so I was willing to drive all the way up to Seattle if needed. Luckily I didn't have to drive that far. I found Ambrosia on IG and after seeing her work and going through a consultation I felt comfortable letting her do my hair. What I really appreciated during my consultation is that Ambrosia didn't make any empty promises. For those of you who don't know, getting greens and blues out of your hair, and transitioning to a color as light as pink is EXTREMELY difficult. So when I told her thats what I wanted to do she didn't just say "I can do that, no problem." She explained why it was difficult, and said she would try her best to get the previous color out, keep the integrity of my hair, and bleached it light enough to allow for a pink. She even came up with back up color options that I could be happy with if pink wasn't possible to accomplish. In the end Ambrosia put in a lot of time (I was there for over 6 hours) and managed to get me to the perfect color I wanted! Unfortunately I moved back to California after graduation, otherwise I would have continued to see Ambrosia for my hair. She's incredibly sweet, puts a lot of time and energy into her work, and goes above and beyond to make sure the costumer is satisfied. The owner contacted me asking me to re-evaluate my review, which made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I was just trying to share my perspective and honest experience at the salon. As a former business owner and someone who has worked in client experience, I believe it's important to believe and listen to your customers and let things like this be a learning experience. As far as any other details, I do remember her being transparent about prices the first couple of appointments. However, after that I don't ever remember being told the price, especially when extras were added (glosses, extra color needed, etc.) and the final bill was often a shock. She wanted to mention that she no longer has assistants, which I can't attest to because I didn't experience that myself. I saw her for maybe a year to year and a half before switching to a different stylist due to price. I did receive the $37 refund check for the bad trim, which was appreciated, but compared to the thousands of dollars I spent over the years, it just didn't feel like much. I also remember going home with gray blonde hair before and just being told it'd wash out. Like I said earlier, I did have some good experiences in terms of color results and I do think the owner is talented. But for the price, time and occasional times I had to get my hair touched up after the fact, it wasn't worth it for me, personally. read more

The experience at Au Salon was truly different from any salon visit I have ever had. Every stylist allots ample time to discuss your hair concerns, your current at home routine as far as cleansing, condition and styling, your expectations and concerns. What I find to be the most valuable is how they will steer you away from a decision that--in their professional opinion--won't be most flattering and will suggest more complementary options. Simply put: they want you to look good! Once, when I was a teenager and didn't style my hair at all (I didn't even own a flat iron or blow dryer) I had a stylist at a chain salon cut me very thick blunt bangs. It didn't turn out well because I didn't know that they wouldn't just lay perfectly without styling them and ultimately I pinned them back until they grew out. At Au Salon, they make sure you understand the commitments of changing your hair and help teach you how to style, and thus, love your hair more! I love that Au Salon is a Bumble & Bumble salon and from their website you can see that all their stylists have taken various continuing education classes at the Bumble & Bumble academy as well as others. They have a huge selection of styling products from Bumble & Bumble, KMS, Goldwell and Moroccan Oil. I own a few things from each of those lines and love every one of them because I was taught how to use them, when and where to apply. Updated 12/6/2019 -- They did refund my deposit, so its water under the bridge. -- I had a very frustrating experience trying to arrive at a reasonable price and time allocation. The stylist I met for the consultation was ok. I did not like how he added services together to get a cost that was 2× what I expected. It felt like options I didnt need were being forced onto me. I flagged the price, and he wasn't able to see things from my perspective. My point was that a partial hilight with root touch-up does not take 3 hours, when I previously got this style in 2 hours elsewhere. The price is just too high and it shouldn't cost double for a touch-up. It definitely felt like they were trying to rip me off by charging to sit in a chair for extra time. Seems like I paid a $80 deposit to find out they cant quote hair and front desk can't handle frustrated customers. I'll send over an email asking for them to refund the deposit minus cancellation fee. Yes, all their other reviews are positive, so you will probably have a better experience than me. Though I did see another review where the client was over quoted too. They definitely use it as an anchor point and wont budge. Recommend: be prepared to open your wallet... Also, be patient with the front desk. read more

I had a great haircut with Emily today! I am really happy with how it turned out. I will be returning to see Emily again for sure. She is fantastic. I would have left more stars if it weren't for the rude interaction with the front desk girl. I am a teacher and a big part of why I go to Auric is because of the teacher discount. I called before and made sure they are still offering that and was told that they do still offer that discount. When I was paying at the end the girl helping me did not give me that discount.
