No 77 is a wonderfully quirky little pub that serves delicious Thai food. From the outside, No 77…read moreappears to be a typical aged village Inn - on the inside is a recently-renovated pub full of character! Unlike many renovated places, No 77 hasn't gone for a sterile "clean-cut" look full of formal dining tables, but has a cool, comfortable atmosphere with both eating areas and a more informal drinking area. As for the food, this is one of the nicest placest I have eaten for a while! The Thai Green and Thai red curries are out of this world. As far as I can tell, everything is prepared in-house with lovely, fresh ingredients. The restaurant has even been selected for the 2015 Michelin Guide! A take-away option is also available, but you have to collect yourself (I would recommend eating in the pub though, as it's such a unique little place!) The drinks selection is excellent, with a range of unusual beers and a cocktail selection. Price wise, the food is pretty good value; cheaper than most pubs in Cambridge and certainly worth the money. Drink prices are not the cheapest (£2.50 - £3 for a soft drink, £5 ish for a small glass of wine, £4 ish for a pint... although there are some cheaper "guest ale" options for a very reasonable £3.20). If you are used to Cambridge drinking prices, this won't seem too bad. As a little extra, every Sunday is a "cinema night", with a large projector screen and upcycled old cinema chairs. There is an afternoon film for the kiddies, and an evening film for the grown-ups. What better way to spend a Sunday evening!? All in all, I would definitely recommend a visit to No 77 - you won't be disappointed.

Went last night with my parents after paying it frequently finally thought we'd give it a go. Went…read morefor the fixed price menu for the of us £19.95 each. Mixed starters was great, then came the main course, thai green curry, beef and veg and a mixed veg side dish and rice. Plenty of rice, but to be honest the other dishes are what you'd get per person in any other restaurant, but these were between 4 of us, so we had to eat bearing in mind there was 3 others to eat also. Quite uncomfortable. We then had deserts (not included in price). My husband had a Ferrero ice cream, so when he found crunchy bits in it he thought it was nuts but no it was broken glass!!!! The edge of the bowl had been smashed. We immediately pointed this out to the staff who seen bewildered . My husband went to the restrooms to spit out the glass and rinse his mouth. They replaced the desert which he then enjoyed. We followed this with the included coffees which were also good. We were however extremely surprised when the bill came and we had been charged for everything. At a minimum I would have thought they'd have discounted my husband's desert and maybe as a gesture of goodwill maybe even his whole meal. But no. We had to convince them it was the right thing to do. But they said ohh it was an accident, but ok by you, but one of your customers ingested broken glass. We were made to feel like it was our fault that we'd done it on purpose. What for £6 of a £180 bill??? Shame but we won't be returning.

I'll start off by saying that I don't generally give places a full five stars on my first visit…read morebecause they'll usually do something trivial to irritate me or their food won't knock my socks off. This place, however, had amazing food, the best Thai tea that I've ever had, and the woman who served us (I won't insult her by trying to spell her name) was extremely friendly and forthcoming despite the fact that they were closing in twenty minutes for the end of lunch. I'm from The States; so, perhaps I find British food a little bland and repetitive after a few months but their food had great flavor and was decently priced for the quality. After stumbling through the menu after a night of drinking, she kindly joked that I needed some sugar to clear my fuzzy head and recommended that I have a large Thai tea as we waited for our food. I agreed and Boy! Am I grateful I did. You won't find any of that orange, powdered pre-made stuff like you do in the states at this spot. It was so refreshing and definitely the pick-me-up that I needed. The Bangkok Pad Thai with prawns was also delicious. She let me spice it up and cautioned me against ordering the Thai Spicy until I came back haha. I stuck with a level three and it had some good heat to it. I also got eight giant prawns in a medium sized amount of Pad Thai. For me, that's pretty amazing considering that it was only 10 pounds and typically places either give you those tiny prawns or only one or two of them. So, I'll definitely be getting it again. My friends ordered the Drunken Noodles (with rice noodles) and the Panang Chicken Curry. They both let me try a bite of both and they were also amazing. The coconut milk in the curry is phenomenal and the drunken noddles had a nice savory taste. I would also order their meals another time. Other than the food being well worth it, the woman who took care of us and took our take out order was hilarious and I can't wait to go back and get to actually dine in. I'll be posting photos the next time!

Doesn't appear that this fine pub has any recent reviews - not to be overlooked though!…read more We looked around for something spicy on our recent visit to Cambridge (and had Indian the night prior), and The Wrestlers came up. Fairly buddy on a Thursday night but the bar host seated us. The menu has the usual curries and noodle dishes; order at the bar. Portions are generous, flavorful, and showed up quickly. A variety of drafts, wine, and soft drinks to complete the meal. A little noisy but manageable; enjoy!

The Wrestlers, where British pub atmosphere and Thai cuisine come together in Cambridge…read more It's located along a busy stretch of Newmarket Road, walkable by 20 minutes from the main part of town or accessible via car park near the superstore. The building itself functioned as a public house as early as the 1800s, but has since been updated in furnishings and food fare--Thai, to be exact. With the exception of pub Prawn Crackers, there are no starters, just mains. Straightforward and no frills. Find your seat, order at the bar. Each plate will cost between £9 and £11. We both got Pud Thai; one with vegetables and cashews and the other with beef. The portions are large and I had to pack the rest of mine in a takeaway box. As it's a pub, prepare for noise and difficulty finding seats around dinnertime. Luckily we came earlier for lunch. I didn't order a drink this time, but they have the standard selection of cask ales and cidres to go with your meals.
