As someone who cannot eat dairy, in mall settings Auntie Anne's is often one of my only options. I have been to multiple different locations, and every time I ask the employees to make a pretzel without butter. Every time, at various locations, the workers are surprised and often annoyed at my request. They either explain that they can't do it that way, at which point I tell them that other locations have, or that I would have to wait. I understand that I have to wait for a new pretzel to be made, since the pre-made ones are all buttered. I have no problem with the wait, but I do have an issue with the attitude and annoyance expressed by employees at various locations due to my dietary restriction. If pretzels were made, and set aside without butter, I would eat those. However, I can't. At this particular instance I arrived at 8:16. I asked the cashier if she could make a pretzel, and leave it un-buttered, because I can't eat the ones with butter. The cashier was already counting the till in the register, out in the open, even though it was only 8:16 pm and they didn't close until 9pm. She said that they had already cleaned up for the night. Therefore, even though they didn't close for another 44 minutes, I left without being able to purchase anything due to a dietary restriction. I feel that this is unfair, and since I was there with so much time before close, would expect the employees to try to satisfy or meet the needs of their customers that are willing to pay and wait with no issue. It could have been made with plenty of time before close, and I often only wait around 10 minutes. Many employees, not all, at various locations do not understand customer service or allergies. If a company is able to make food edible for someone with dietary restrictions, they absolutely should. If this wasn't the first time, I would have let it go. However, after multiple experiences at various locations of receiving attitude and annoyance at my request, this outright refusal has been the last straw for me. read more
