This was one of the coolest distilleries we went to ever. We did the barrel tasting where you got to sample yourself out of four different barrels. Then the best part was I got to pull the bung from the barrel myself and you got to fill your own bottle from your favorite barrel for the same price that it would cost you to buy a bottle out of the Shelf. We drove 4 hours round trip from our hotel to visit The Distillery and it definitely did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back again and do a tour of their operations. I believe our God's name was Corey and he did an amazing job we will definitely be back.

Top notch experience for me and our group. From the tour to the tastings, it exceeded our expectations. Billy and Alex brought us on a bourbon journey that helped me understand how Buckners are part of the Bourbon trail adventure. If you get to make one stop, I think you should stop here!

Great Distillery and the hands on tour is great. Well worth the drive and your time. Learned a lot, filled our own bottles of bourbon to include marking and labeling.

The other people who were supposed to be in the group opted out of the tasting part of the tour, so my husband and I got a private tasting and tour. We got to pop the barrell and pour our 3 shot sized samples and pour a bottle to purchase. The bottle we purchased is only available at the distillary and won't be in stores for another 8 years. The tour consisted of a short movie and walking through the old factory and hearing about the future plans. Thanks to the local news for getting this story out there.

We took the tour w/ Cory (this guy is awesome & engaging), let's start by the Distillery is doing everything right. I've been on many tours @ other distilleries & the is the 1st time I got to uncork a barrel, fill my own bottles & make my own labels. This is by far the best Distillery experience I've ever had. Now that Alex has joined them as the Master Distiller, I almost feel bad for other distilleries. Thanks for doing what you do so well !!

The slushies were AMAZING, i could've drank 100

This is the coolest place! We went here for my bachelorette party & had the best time thanks to our tour guide Cory! Loved his accent and his enthusiasm. We've decided to come here every summer as a girls trip, since not everyone is local! I can't wait!

Hands down, this was the most entertaining distillery visit I've had. If you haven't heard, Augusta Distillery, located in beautiful Augusta, KY, took home Best Bourbon in the World honors at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for their Buckner's 13-year single barrel bourbon. That spurred us to plan a day trip to Augusta where we had a great lunch at Beehive Augusta Tavern followed by the distillery tour. You must book your tour since the big win has led to a massive influx of people like us eager to visit the distillery. Much of August Distillery is under construction and we got a chance to see the vision for a destination distillery that will be complete in about three years' time. Since there's not much to see yet, the owners are focused on the bourbon, giving us an unparalleled experience to tap three different barrels of bourbon as part of our tasting. There's a rye heavy bourbon, a middle of the line smooth and easy drinker and one that's a bit more posh. The presentation is great and volunteers from the tasting pop the bungs on each barrel and use a bourbon thief to pour their tastes and, if they want, ultimately pour a bottle to take home. The joy that radiates from the employees is palpable -- these are some happy people doing something they love -- and we caught the bug. Totally awesome, fun experience. There's a free trolley that runs every 15 minutes from Augusta's Main Street to the distillery. If you don't take it, it's a .6 mile riverside walk back to town. Recommended!

We've been on a lot of distillery tours, but Augusta is one of our favorites! We've been twice so far. The tasting and tour are very interactive and so much fun! They let you thieve bourbon from the barrel and taste the unfiltered, barrel-strength product! The distillery is under construction, but it will really be something when it's completed. The history of the building and Augusta are very interesting. It's a gorgeous little town and well worth the visit!

We even purchased 2 barrels to put in our golf shop. Mcgolf Custom Clubs.

The gift shop is excellent, featuring everything from glasses and coasters to all varieties of clothing. There are many collectible items. Perfect place to shop for anyone who loves bourbon. There are different varieties of bourbon available each day. Today I scored a bottle of Eagle Rare, yay! Limited to one per person. It is well worth the drive to experience Buffalo Trace. I hear this is the best tour in terms of history and tasting. I'm excited to see how this tour compares to the others. I really liked the Trace tour and I was very disappointed with the hard hat tour, which puts a lot of pressure on this tour to deliver. Ok, so this tour was awesome. So much history. Fun. Entertaining and great tasting experience. This is hands down the best tour I've been on at Buffalo Trace.

There are two buildings and you check in at the one building, near a parking lot, but then get on a tour bus and they take you to the other building, which has the gift shop. It seemed a bit counterintuitive to start at the other building, then. Before this, I was super hungry, so we went to their bar area in the gift shop and ordered the charcuterie, which ended up just being like a metal box with some meats, cheeses, and other things, and a bag with a few pretzels in it. Disappointing especially for $33, although it kinda worked out because we only had a half-hour before the tour. I didn't know that Woodford Reserve has actually only been around since 1996 but the campus they purchased has buildings from 1890 and later - I would've loved to have heard more about that history even though it wasn't technically Woodford's. At the end of the tour, they return you to the gift shop and that's where you do the tasting - there is a private tasting room. I should probably note that we did the basic tour - it was $35 and my husband said you could get a similar tasting to the one we got, in the gift shop area, for $30, which made the tour only $5, which isn't bad. I did end up buying a pin, a magnet, and a sampler box of their bourbon treats (chocolates etc. - expensive, at $46 or so, but looks good) and my husband bought a few of their bottles. However, next time we are in Louisville we can probably skip this one, I'm thinking.
