We purchased a Jeep Compass a little over a week ago, and overall would have had a very positive experience with a bit more follow up on Auffenberg's end. After closing, however, the title has not been mailed. We struggled to get in touch, and when we finally did, and they promised to overnight mail it, the title still was not mailed. Since then, we've tried to get in contact--and we've been unable to get in touch with a person. Calls have been not returned. Which is all a shame. While at the dealership, the sales rep, her manager, and I had a hard time opening up the hatch of the SUV I purchased. It finally opened after using two hands with more force than normal to open it up. I purchased it thinking that the hatch would open as long as I used two hands. After I left, the hatch opened the few times I tried, but then stopped opening all-together. I called within 5 days of purchasing the SUV and asked if they would be willing to fix the problem "at cost", since there was a problem that everyone witnessed while I was there with the hatch. I was willing to pay them to fix it at their cost. I thought this was reasonable. The answer was "no." Would have been a super-happy customer if it wasn't for this. I was willing to pay for some of the repair, and felt that since this was a "known issue" when I drove it off the lot they should have met me "1/2 way" on it. Only having a car for 30 days (not purchasing a extended warranty I guess my fault as the mgr Jeremy said to me) the water pump went out on the car we bought for my Daughter. Basically the mgr Jeremy said well you are screwed no help or solution or anything. Now this is the 4th car I've bought from them and the one that will keep me from going back there. We had seen negative and positive posts. I called about a car to check availability. Audrey had responded and said that the car was available and that she would let Kenny know to meet with us and that he would have the car ready. When we arrived Kenny was busy so Scott helped us. Kenny stopped over by but was unaware that we were coming to see him or what car we were looking for. Scott couldn't find the car and we spent quite a while waiting, then it looked like the car was going to be at the detail shop so we followed Scott 3 to 4 miles down to find the car. We waited outside of the detail shop for about 15 minutes and Scott came out and said the car was not there. That they had actually detailed one but it didn't match the numbers. So then we drove back to the dealership and we waited as Scott drove up and down the rows of cars trying to find the car we were looking for. While we were waiting for Scott, Kenny came up and ask which car we were looking for and when we told him another salesman pulled out his phone and said oh here's that car. It was a car that was in the body shop with a front end completely smashed. So we drove about 45 minutes and spent quite a bit of time looking for a car that wasn't even available. Scott did go way beyond what was expected and we do appreciate that. However we are buying a car in Ballwin Missouri today and probably would not come back to Auffenberg. read more

She brought it in and her salesman Tom Hoffmann said, "oh you should've bought the extended warranty." Why would you think you need it right away? One problem was it needed software updates which I would think the dealership knew should have been done. The other was a new thermostat. I just think these things were probably found during the once over that they give all cars and they knew that their 3000 mile and 3 mos warranty would not cover. I should of reading all these reviews before I bought a car from them, a few weeks ago, we got a pre-owned car from here, the car has no gas when we test drive, so we didn't go on the freeway, we didn't find out there is something wrong on the car after we bought it, they took it in said it was fixed, but it wasn't, and by the way they won't give us a rental car when they "fix it" so we had to waiting there all day.... They messed up our title, but they saleswomen didn't care, here name is Crystal. After waiting for several weeks, we had to contact there title department trying to fix it ourselves. Just a bad experience overall. Very slow to get you information wanted, having to follow up with multiple people. After getting paperwork together on their end, getting the application approved and check cut from my bank, they sold the car to another buyer. RUN AWAY FAST! I bought a car and within 3 weeks had problems that aren't covered unless I purchased the extended warranty. I understand things happen, but the problems with the car were a thermostat and computer upgrades that do not fall under any warranty and cost $950 to fix. There is no way these issues just suddenly happened after me using the car a few hundred miles. After buying a car, spending $950 a month later was definitely not planned. I will never be doing business with these untrustworthy salesmen again. DO NOT TRUST THESE CARS! Only gave one star because I had to. The actual selection of the car and the negotiation was very streamlined and uneventful. I have my favorite salesman Scott and his associate Ben couldn't have been more helpful. Actually we spent more time with Ben and he was simply awesome. Now to the lack of 5 stars, we had already picked up a Check from our bank. Got back to the dealer and had to wait over 2 1/2 hours for a finance persons ?? Apparently they are the only ones able to run the licenses and tags and accept payment. It was because of our salesman tenacity that we got in when we did. The paperwork took all of 5 minutes. Would have been quicker but they used the wrong address on the registration. I understand how things happen and why we had to wait a little bit but over 2 hours for basically cash is not acceptable. I have bought 6 cars from the dealer, and will be purchasing another within the year. I'm going to need to think long and hard about the wait. Wow, I understand the low reviews now. These folks really know how to diss their customers. I bought a VW there a year ago, enjoy the car, but have had no luck getting the second key. Supposedly my salesman has it in his car, but he has yet to send it or even leave it for me to pick up. Was sold a 2013 Jetta with 40,000 miles last year 2020. I was told by the sales man, manager and finance officer it was certified. When the airbag light came on I brought it in to be fixed just to find out it was not certified. I was told by the mechanic what the problem was and it would cost me over 1,000. I took it home scanned the airbag system just to find out the mechanic at auffenberg was wrong. I fixed it myself, as a former dealer mechanic myself. I fixed this over 6 months ago and obviously the mechanic at auffenberg ford was wrong, oh and it cost me less than $30 to fix 200 if you include the scanner I purchased. if you do buy from auffenberg insure you get everything in writing and double check every single thing you are told. read more

LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE!!!! Dear Friends....don't do business with AUFFENBERG auto mall in O'Fallon IL. Worst experience ever! They had a Mazda 3 hatchback that was on their lot and the front license plate holder had their certified pre-owned plate in it. When we signed the papers after 3 hours being at the dealership we were told it was not certified. We showed the finance manager the pic we took of the car and it clearly showed the certified pre-owned plate. The manager said, well it isn't and if you want it to be certified then it will be another charge. Against our judgement we went through with signing the paperwork. We had a pre-approval from a credit union for the purchase and we not using their financing. We then went to the credit union and the paperwork that Auffenberg faded over was not what we signed. They added additional fees for warranty that we clearly said no to. The original papers we signed didn't have the extended warranty on them and when the credit union received our paperwork for financing it was a different agreement with the $1700 extended warranty on it. Luckily, we had the original paperwork we actually signed that didn't have the warranty on it. The credit union contact them and said that what we had was different than what auffenberg had faxed over and auffenberg had to redo all the paperwork and fax it to the credit union which we sat there for over an hour . So, we left to go back to the dealership since the credit union was closing at 12. This transaction all was done on Labor Day weekend Saturday and took until Wednesday to get it complete. It's truly disheartening of how many people this has happened to. I posted this on my Facebook page for my friends and family to prevent it from happening to them and I had 6 people respond saying it happened to them. I went into Auffenberg Pre-Owned Superstore during my visit to O'fallon. I came in with questions about the Jetta TDI. I worked with a salesmen Dominic DiVittorio. I began the process by telling him that," I will not be purchasing today He did not hesitate to show me several TDI's. We then test drove a 2013 TDI from the select lot the car was very clean, even had the new car smell. Dominic did well with answering all my questions. It was nice that he spent the time with me that he did knowing he probably wouldn't be getting a sale that day. DO NOT BUY FROM AUFFENBERG! This was the review I left but it was more of a pain, a run around, and lies than what this shows. I have been dealing with them since the day after I bought my car (3 weeks tomorrow) wasted my gas and time. Buyer beware! I do not recommend purchasing from these scam artist! I scheduled a test drive and when I showed up for my appointment the car wasnt there. We had to drive from Bellville to Ofallon to get the car. Then the car wasnt even detailed so I had to come back the next day to pick it up. They told me if I had any issues let them know. Very next morning afyer getting the car the roof was leaking and the backup camera stopped working. They told me they would take care of it. Shop called and said roof was fixed and to pick up my car because camera was on backorder. Two days after I picked up my car they text me and tell me they are not going to replace the camera because it is to expensive. So much for taking care of it! Saleman was rude andno one would give me a managers number just a name. I called one day and asked to have a manager call me. Bo one ever called they just try to avoid you and everyone gives you a run around. Finally after commenting on a facebook post a manager calls me. He offered for me to pay $200 and they will cover the rest. The camera is $128 on ebay why would I do that? They are very rude and very unprofessional. I was incredibly nervous to get a new car as I had not purchased one since I co-signed with my father, plus I was still in shock from a serious wreck that left my sweet, trusty Corolla in shambles. Scott was very easy going and let me take my time test driving cars and asking a LOT of questions. He provided me with some tips and insight on buying cars that actually felt more like a dad trying to help out his daughter rather than a salesman trying to convince you into buying. I bought a car from them and a day later it started acting weird, the next day the thermostat light came on and the transmission was acting weird after a longer highway drive. They told me to bring it up to get it checked out, even with issues and me not being comfortable driving it that far. They didn't find anything wrong with the car. I didn't feel comfortable keeping the car with it having undiagnosable issues. I tried to return it within the 3 day 150 mile guarantee that they have on car sales where they will take it back. The sales manager tried telling me I was 7 miles over the 150 miles and there was nothing he could do about it, it was out of his hands and a legal matter now. My father was with me and said fine we will talk to our lawyer and left to drop the rental car back at the repair shop. Before leaving we combed through the paperwork and found that I was actually 20 miles under the 150 miles. When we got back to the lot managers office he already had his superior manager there along with a couple of other people. His tone had changed entirely and said to me that they were just about to call me to "help me out". He said they would have a check for me by the following Monday (this was a Friday) I didn't hear anything Monday so I called and they said the manager handling it was gone until Wednesday. I had to call them multiple times over a two week period for them to give me an answer about what was up. They kept telling me to call back and they gave me the run around. I shouldn't have had to do any of that. After a week they told me it would be 10 business days after I purchased it for me to get a check refund. When they finally had the check I had to drive back up there to pick up a check. After all of that shady business of them lying about the mileage and almost having us leave and be stuck with a car with issues, they still had me pay the 3% restocking fee. Also, couple of days later (after we brought it up to the shop) the car was for sale at a few hundred bucks more than it was listed at when I purchased it. Awful experience throughout, still ongoing. We were looking for a first car for my son who was about to turn 16. We knew we wanted a VW Jetta, and visited the Belleville location to see a car they were advertising. It wasn't what we were looking for, but the salesperson offered to meet us at their O'Fallon location to show us another one they had just gotten. We liked the car, but he said we weren't able to drive it yet because they needed to do their 120 point inspection on it first. Fair enough, so we waited a couple of weeks and I called him back. Left a message that we were ready to look at the car....he never called back. So we went to the lot and met another sales person, Tom. We test drove the car, went to lunch, and came back to make an offer later that day. We sat down with Tom, and he immediately, without a word, gets up and walks away, before we said a word. No biggie, we figured he was going to get some paperwork or something. We had already told him we didn't have much time, as we needed to pickup a family member in a couple of hours. After waiting about 10 minutes, I went to look for him. He was standing outside the showroom, taking a cigarette break with another salesman! No care in the world that we were waiting for him. So he finally comes back inside and we sit down to discuss our offer. There were a few things that needed to be fixed (why wasn't any of this stuff noticed on their "thorough" 120 point inspection?). When we told him we expected those repairs to be made, he literally started laughing right there. When we asked him what was so funny, he told us he wasn't laughing at us, but that his boss was going to laugh when he discussed the repairs with him. We felt insulted, and totally disrespected. At this point, we were about to get up and leave, but our son's birthday was only a few days away, and this was the car he wanted. So we finally agreed at a price, subject to the repairs. Update: I had to take the car back in this morning, because the noise coming from the front end (which was one of the repairs needed at the time of purchase) is still there. Even though we had an appointment at 9am, Tom had completely forgotten I was going to meet him. He grabs the keys from me and walks out the door without a word. Nothing about when the repair should be done, calling me, or anything. Just walked out and left. It's now 3:45 in the afternoon, and I still haven't heard from anyone over there. My expectation (when I get the car back) is that they'll blame the noise on something else, and won't fix it....again. They already hinted that it probably isn't the same problem that the car had when we bought it. A couple of weeks after buying the car, I get one of those automated emails from Mike Auffenberg, to make sure my experience was a good one. I replied back, saying my experience was not a good one, and gave him my cell number to call, in case he wanted to know the details. No call of course. Worst damn experience I ever had buying a car. I am 50 years old and bought many cars in my life from dealers in St. Louis and Fairview heights .i expect bad time from St. Louis dealerships but never expected any trouble from my home state. Illinois . I was sold what I was told a really nice almost new Nissan Rogue that was supposed to be a preferred certified car that passed a 142 point inspection. Salesman assured me there was less than $100 damage to this SUV. So I checked out the vehicle in total it had 3 1 inch dents on driver side rear door and quarter panel. 2 of the dents had holes all the way through paint to metal and rusted. Then I found the whole front of the hood had hundreds of holes in the paint on the front of the hood from rock damage or something . You could see the shiny metal through every chip in the black paint. The salesman was telling us the car was not on display for sale yet as it was sitting outside their detail shop and would sell quick once on sale in lot. It was raining for several days both days we looked at this car. Salesman assured us if we bought this car everything would be fixed quickly. Well we bought it and salesman sald he would schedule us shortly for all repairs and new pint on affected areas. The next day after purchasing raining stopped and weather got hot and we noticed now our tail lights both were filling up with water. We took it right back in and showed them and took pics. While there we asked about other repairs. They said working on ordering parts and paint. Now after 8 weeks, several calls to everyone there and all they tell us someone will get back with us. If you go there they give you a different excuse every time. Served 2 tours in Iraq and Kuwait, 1 each in US infantry and love my country only to decide now that I will only buy from Japanese dealerships in future because they have respect for their customers unlike most big shitty dealerships like Auffenberg. Starting this Friday may 25 2018 I am parking my junk Auffenberg SUV on the corner of their dealership not their property, and I will be in the black SUV with balloons flying and big magnetic signs stuck to my doors with messages on them. If no stars was an option on yelp, I wouldn't have even given this place one star. I had an awful experience at Auffenberg Pre-owned lot. At first I thought that maybe the salesman (Rick) was just incompetent, but then I requested to talk to the manager who was just as litte help as Rick. I drove about 100 miles to come look at a car and was in contact with Rick along the way. When I got there, however, he told me that it was sold and fed me some story about how he wasn't aware right until we arrived. He made the trip a complete waste of time and it seemed like he just wanted to get me down there to look at other cars. He didn't even attempt to tell me that it sold on my way to the dealership. The whole ordeal just left a bad taste in my mouth. The whole dealership just seemed rather unhelpful and I was very disappointed. I will not be going again. We went to Auffenbeg Friday evening 4/24/15 to buy 2 cars. Deal rolled over to Saturday 4/25/15.We put $2000.00 down on a 2004 Honda Accord and $2000 cash down on a 2012 Kia Sorento AWD..We bought both vehicles. The next day, we noticed the Kia would smoke when first started after sitting. I am a mechanic and know that it means the top end of the engine needs rebuilt. The brake rotors were also warped. It has 74,xxx miles, should not smoke. I took the car back monday evening and tried to work out a deal on a 1 year older vehicle. Second vehicle had body damage I did not see til I was off work. We decided to end the deal on the second car and still got charged 3% restocking fee off the vehicle price. ($621.00). Avoid this dealership at all costs!!! We went to buy a Chevy Cobalt from this dealership. When we arrived it was very odd. After a week of talking to the sales staff about seeing the car, when we arrived we were told that he could not find the car. The salesman came back and said he found it but it was in the shop for repairs. He then said "I wouldn't buy a car that has been worked on". I am an auto tech and wondered what was wrong with the car and asked to see it. We looked at the car and asked what was wrong. The salesman went to check and told us it had a misfire. We drove it across the lot and when we came back into the dealership the salesman told us he received the wrong info and that the car was indeed fixed and ready to be sold. He also said he would knock off $1000 for our troubles which we appreciated. We bought the car since it was fixed and when we got it home the check engine light was on and it was misfiring. I took it apart and it has a burnt exhaust valve and is going to cost around $1300 to fix. Called the dealer and told them it was not fixed and all they say is we bought it as is. I understand that, but the problem they said the FIXED was not fixed. They lied in order to make the sale. We still would have bought the car even if it was running bad. We would not have paid what they sold it for. We paid for a fixed car, not one with problems. read more

I was sold what should be a 2018 Camaro still under its warrenty whith Chevy the dealer bragged of what a great deal it was well then I noticed the tire pressure warning light was on they said yes you need to take it to Chevy and they would fix it on warrenty well I took the to Chevy and it would not be warrenty work cause the rims on the car were from a 2016 model they would have to replace all censors and reprogram them they called Ford to see if they would pick up the tab to do they they told me know bring the car back I told them I cant this was the only day I could get off and I am pretty pissed though these wheels look good there not the ones advertised on the car and the the management at ford was no help at all do yourself a favor want a great camaro go to Chevy once ford has your money they could care less about you this little lesson cost me 654.00 dollars and I have a 2018 car with 2016 wheels these guys are crooks to the max read more

I went to Auffenberg to find a car for my 16 year old daughter. Kenny Chambers made a deal with me...I live 2 hours from the dealership so I told him I would try to get to the bank and get the money to buy the car. Later that evening I called to tell him that my wife couldn't get off work in time to get everything completed but we would have the money by Monday and would drive up to get the car. I asked if I needed to put some money down or how we could go about holding the car. He told us he would hide the car from being looked at on Sat. and we could come up Monday to get the car. Saturday morning he called to say that he was going to have to show the car. We asked if my brother in-law could bring some cash to hold the car...he said only if he had the whole payment. We asked if he could bring a ck and asked them to not cash the ck until Monday if we didn't show with another check to exchange it out. He said that he would talk to his manager and see if we really needed to go through all that trouble. We kept texting and calling Kenny for 3 hours...he finally called back and said that they had sold the car. Very, very awful customer service....and what Kenny and Auffenberg didn't realize was that within this next year, I was going to be purchasing a new car for myself...NEVER, NEVER will we buy a car from ANY Auffenberg...their name has been totally tarnished by Kenny!! read more

My husband found a used car he liked. They blasted him with emails to come in and check the car. So, he sets up a test drive with brad reno. First we went to the pre owned lot. The salesman said it was at the superstore. So we went to the superstore. A salesman, Tom, looks up the car and tells my husband its at the preowned. So we went back to the preowned lot. Bought a 2011 Altima, nice car, 38 k still had remaining drive train warranty, AC quit working after 5 weeks. Bad compressor, not a drive train item. they would be happy to fix for $1200. and made it a point to tell me I should have purchased the extended warranty. Not a single offer to comp, or even split the cost, just sorry, out of luck . The normal, bumper to bumper warranty is 36,000, so at 2 k over a major part fails, and it is to bad , so sad. They said they checked with Nissan, for some kind of special circumstance thing, but no go. So I found an independent shop, ASE etc, who will repair for 800, I did still have to pay $100.00 for the privilege of knowing they could not help us. They were very patronizing to my wife. Quote "Mam, you know when it is hot outside and the humidity is high it takes a while for the ac to cool the car". Are you kidding me! I have only been driving a car for 40 years, I didn't know that when you get in a car and it is 95 outside, 160 inside that as soon as I turn the car on it will not immediately become a cool 72.
