When paying an amenity fee that's included in your rent, you shouldn't have to pay for a pool pass…read more($60 per person); if that amenity isn't included in the amenity fee, then what are the lessees paying for? Also not worth the pay of a lifeguard who may not show up or who tries leave on "lunch break" for a 7 hour shift. Enter and swim at your own risk from 10am to 9pm would be just fine, especially when the office workers tend to live on the property. For the rent pay, wall cracks should be covered, baseboard heating should be fully functional, metal carpet covers should actually be secured and not extremely loose, fire alarm testing should happen once a year (felt like living in a college dorm for 4 month straight), etc. Location from town is ideal; 12-15 min walk into town so you get the accessibility, but not all the ruckus. Having access to dumpsters is great for disposal of big items. Extremely dog friendly with poop disposal stations in each courtyard and a dog park.

There are SO MANY reasons why I would discourage anyone from renting from the Metropolitan in West…read moreChester. The staff is the rudest I have ever encountered in a rental community in my entire life. They don't even pretend to be friendly. If they seem friendly, they are probably lying (yes, I have evidence for this statement - I don't make it lightly). The apartments are extremely overpriced given the building's state of repair. They make cosmetic changes, but that's all they are - a fresh paint job, new furniture in the rental office. It's a shame because some of the people on the maintenance staff are fantastic - it's the property manager, rental office staff, and owners that are problematic (but especially the staff here in West Chester). They will make changes to the lease each year, including what tenants are required to pay for (ex., heat, water, trash removal, etc.). Look out for hidden rent increases under the guise of paying a questionable utility management company (which I'm not sure actually exists). The primary reason - the one that motivated me to write this review - is that they enter your apartment at any time with no notice. This is illegal, and there are legal steps to follow. This is especially problematic because legitimate crimes (even a bomb threat!) do happen in this apartment complex, and we really can't know if some one entering the home actually works for the Metropolitan (especially if we've never seen them here before). I have lived here since 2006 and have been through many changes. I have had complaints before, but the home invasion is the most serious. If you live here and this happens to you, please know that you have a right to call the police.

Don't be fooled if management comes back with an excuse, it's been like this for months. The trash rooms have bugs and are always overflowing. This doesn't occur on the weekends, this is on a daily basis. There's been multiple instances where we've run into other residents who feel the same way as us. Now, they allow the pizza place to store their trash, tables, chairs, and umbrellas in the hallway. They (Rize Pizza) frequently leave the door to the kitchen open. This should be the entrance to your home, not a storage area for a restaurant. If you're looking for a clean, well-managed, building look elsewhere. Don't be fooled by their fake Google reviews, either. 2 people are employees of the LLC.

Update: I've now been in the complex for six months and things have only gone down hill. My…read moreupstairs neighbor, for a reason I cannot understand, HATES dogs. My dogs have adjusted well to apartment living and only bark a few times a day for less than a minute or two. I actually WANT them to bark when there is someone outside my door. They stop when I tell them to, for the most part. Yet my upstairs neighbor continues to STOMP on the floor with EVERY. LITTLE. SOUND. the dogs make. And I don't mean just some light banging. It's 3-4 rhythmic stomps that are so hard he has knocked several pictures off my walls breaking the glass frames. I've had to remove all pictures and anything breakable from my walls. I have reported his behavior NUMEROUS times to the office staff who refuse to do anything except tell me to report it to the police. I work in public safety and this is NOT a police matter. I have dozens of police reports, dozens of complaints to management, and have gone so far as to start documenting all the issues in other places so I don't continue to be a nuisance to my local pd. He has even bought anti-dog, anti-bark machines and placed them on his deck to annoy MY dogs. He was told to remove it (I think, management never did call me back) and yet this am it was back up there in all it's green flashing light glory. I have multiple witnesses to his escapades and management still refuses to do anything. I am searching for a new place to live and when they try to come after me for breaking my lease, my attorney has said we will cite how THEY broke the contract by continually allowing my neighbors to willfully and intentionally harass me. My dogs may bark (NOT excessively), they are DOGS, but this is supposed to be a pet friendly complex (trust me by the amount of dog poo all over the place from people not cleaning up after their dogs you can tell there are a lot of dogs). My dogs do not bark to intentionally harass my upstairs neighbor. He DOES willfully and intentionally stomp, put things outside his apartment, leave notes on my door, etc to harass me. I'm afraid next he's going to try to poison my dogs or worse. He wins, I'm out.
