I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was a masterclass in disorganization, indifference, and wasted time. I called a week in advance and told them I'd be coming in Monday morning to get sound deadening installed in the front doors and wheel wells of my station wagon. I even told them I already had the materials. They said "come in at 9." Simple enough. I took time off work and drove from midtown Manhattan all the way to their shop near Fordham University. I arrived at 9am -- their posted opening time -- only to watch the staff stroll in around 9:20. Then I had to wait while they dealt with a customer whose Bluetooth they'd installed incorrectly. When I finally spoke to the manager, I showed him the parts, explained the job, got a quote, and headed back to my office -- another $60 cab ride -- trusting they'd do what they said they could do. Ninety minutes later, they called to say they couldn't remove my tires because they were "on too tight." They didn't have the proper power tool to remove them. A mobile audio shop that can't remove wheels for a job they agreed to do. I asked if they could find a tool somewhere. They couldn't. I asked if they could at least do the front doors -- the part that didn't require touching the wheels. They said no, because they "already had other cars" and mine was now sitting in the street. So I took another $60 Uber back to pick up my untouched car. $120 in transportation, half a day of work lost, and absolutely nothing to show for it. They didn't even bother to do the portion of the job they could have done. I'm sure they have a couple of things they do well, but the devil‑may‑care attitude, the lack of basic tools, and the complete disregard for my time means I won't be returning. If you value professionalism, reliability, or even the slightest respect for your schedule, look elsewhere. read more

Jose and the guys at Audiomaxx were great! They installed the Drone Auto start system in my car and I must say they did an excellent job with the install. I forgot to leave the key for them to do the programming and they were willing to pick it up from me at my place of work which is a pretty far from the shop. I called Audiomaxx for a window tint appointment, and I found the staff to be professional, however, despite having an appointment and calling an hour before my appointment (per their direction) the tint specialist was not on site. It's my assumption that they waited for me to arrive to call the tint specialist in per-diem, this added a half hour to my wait. Once started the tint specialist completed the job in a reasonable amount of time and most importantly the finished product was superb. I been meaning to upgrade the manufacture radio in my car for a while now. I had looked up online audio car systems and AUDIOMAXX appeared on top of all other businesses in the area. Now I know they been around for about 20 years now, I called yesterday and Jose picked up. Now due to the reviews his name came up with great customer service, and they were not lying! I explained to Jose I was interested in upgrading the radio in my car which carries a sentimental value to me. I didn't want anything flashy, just something simple. He stated they have plenty of choices and to stop by that he will be at my service. Due to this covid 19, they are taking extreme precautions and he was well protected, gloves and mask.... Went in and I introduced myself and he surely remembered from our chat over the phone. No one listen to cds like that so I wasn't interested in that option. I went with the all Bluetooth Pioneer with FM/AM & voice calls. I didn't expect to have it done today, but he had time and knocked it out within and hour. I only replaced the radio for now, because the speakers I have sound great and like I said I want something I can listen to at a descent volume not for the neighborhood to dance too lol. I was extremely pleased with his customer service and he's not one to sell more to get that extra cash. Upfront and honest and that's what I like most! I wanted a stereo upgrade from my manufactured radio in my FX35. I wanted someone to do quality custom work. I googled radio installations and Audiomaxx came up with great reviews. I live in Jersey but I figure I take a chance and travel to the bronx. After a few emails back and forth I finally was able to get my truck work. Let me tell you. These guys do serious quality work and they know what they doing. The owner Frank is a absolute gentleman. I had the manufactured screen repositioned and a radio screen installed. I also had an auto start installed as well. I have no issues at all. They took care of my truck, they were VERY attentive to the quality of work they performed and continuously reassured me if I have any issues just come back. Had a bad experience with store staff. Not true to their words. Checked my car stereo wiring for 3 minutes and told me they will just reset something to restore the power on my stereo. Nothing happened but still they charged me. Then they would recommend you to buy their product instead. read more

Looking at all of the 5star reviews, I'm not sure what happened to my experience. And I feel safe speaking for others as well in this particular case. I called on Wednesday to get a quote for alarm and remote start and was given a certain price that sounded fair to me and similar to 2 other quotes I received. I wasn't sure if I was coming in on Friday or Saturday so I was told whichever day I decide to be there as early as possible to avoid the wait. Saturday came and I'm there at 9am on the dot, the shop is closed, gates down, no one in sight. The only other person around was another gentleman who was there for tints on his civic. He was also told to be there at 9, and he was there at 8:45. Standing around waiting and 2 more guys show up, one was told that he should be there at 9:30, the other was a regular and just showed up. No one came up to open the shop until after 10am. When I told them how long we were waiting they said they didn't open until 10am on Saturdays! Then why tell anyone to be there early? They told the guy who was there before me they wouldn't have anyone to tint his car until 1 or 2pm.That aside I get in and all of a sudden the price I was quoted went up an additional $200+. The third guy to arrive also got his price jacked up twice as much as he was originally quoted. I immediately called another one of the shops and went over there. Im really glad I called around for prices otherwise I might have paid it. I don't know what's happening there, but apparently if the owner Frank is around these things don't happen. As a female car enthusiast, you never know how you will be treated upon entering any auto install/repair shop/man cave. Luckily for me, the guys at Audiomaxx were all polite and knowledgeable gentlemen. I went in for a simple foglight install on my 2013 Q5 as I don't have access to a garage space and didn't feel like installing them myself on the streets of nyc. Even though they are a busy shop and all 3 bays at their shop were filled with custom install jobs, Eric and Frank were kind enough to squeeze in my car and had the lights changed in less than half an hour. Their prices are extremely fair and you would have a hard time finding lower prices than theirs with the quality of work that they seem to be doing on the custom jobs I had a chance to see while waiting. In addition, they guarantee all their work and told me if there were any issues on the install to just bring it back and they would make it right. My next car mod project will be to set up an AV interface with the Q5 MMI so that I can mirror my iphone to the nav screen and receive digital TV to the nav screen. I ran the project by Eric and he offered pro advice on the setup and a great price quote for the labor charges. I will definitely be using Audiomaxx for the install on this project and highly recommend this shop. The guys are also fun to talk to and happy to share their knowledge :). read more
