First 5 years locked in a contract and after that month to month plan. Was pleased with service in the past until I added a door bell camera. Last year I decided to add a door bell camera to my account. Little did I knew it will cause me so much frustration and aggravation to the point of loosing sleep over it. Few weeks after door bell camera was installed, the problems started. Camera was recording on and off and beside that, it started to ding randomly through out the day and night, constantly waking me up in the middle of night thinking someone is at the door ringing the bell door. Finally after 8 month I had a technician come to my home to check the issue, and apparently the ADT technician that installed the door bell did not check the voltage I had, to make sure that the voltage is compatible with ADT door bell camera. Since the voltage is much lower than what are camera needs, he removed the door bell camera, but I still got stuck in a contract for my entire alarm system that I signed when I added the camera. Since they took away the camera, logically the contract should be voided, since that was the only reason I signed a contract. I'm so done with ADT and their lack of professionalism and understanding that I'm considering paying out the contract rounding up around $2500, just so I don't have to ever never see their name on my statements. If the first ADT technician checks the voltage and told me it will cause problems I could had a chance to back out and not be locked in a contract for 5 years. Even if ADT burns down your home, you will still be hold in a contract and pay for it, while they are Protected 100%. As a consumer I will never sign a contract with any company that provides a service.

I was an Ackerman customer for about 8 years until my account was sold to ADT without my knowledge…read more I have been using ADT for about 2 years. In early December 2025, I noticed Ackerman Security was back in business; I said okay, let me call them to re-established home security services with them. A home appointment was scheduled, and the woman sales rep for Ackerman came to my home. We talked and reviewed the work that were needed to convert my home security services from ADT to Ackerman. We discussed the amount and monthly payments for Ackerman Security services. To establish services, I was going to finance the equipment charges to a finance partner company for Ackerman. I gave the Ackerman rep my personal information (e.g. Social Security number, address, phone numbers, and other information to establish security services.) The Ackerman rep never follow up with me. When I called her, she gave me an excuse saying it is a technical issue, management is reviewing your information, or some off the wall excuse. I got tired of waiting, and I utilized ADT security. I paid more money with ADT; however, I have a peace of mind. If Ackerman Security didn't want my business, I wish the rep would have said something; and she didn't. Very sad business practice; and I am glad that I am not returning to Ackerman as a customer.

They would not acknowledge me request while trying to keep my account. After 20 minutes, I told the agent that I was not going to listen to her hard sell. I just wanted to cancel my services. She never followed up with a confirmation email. I had to call back few laters later. They had me repeat the while story before I had to cut off the agent. I just wanted a confirmation of my service cancellation. Yet again, this has been an AT&T practice across all the business. Good lock to them.
