I found AVA through a Google search. I contacted Carlos and he responded right away. He came out the next day to give me a free quote. I had a wall mounted TV and sound system that was about 15 years old. I was in process of dumping cable and switching to a streaming service. I wanted to have the old TV and system completely removed and a new TV mounted that was more suitable for streaming. I wanted to simplify what I had since all of the wires and cables were installed behind the wall, but it was really difficult to move the entertainment stand or get to any of the equipment due to how tight the wires were. I was unsure what to do about the sound system, but I knew I wanted something simple. Carols suggested the Sonos Playbar. He got back to me with a quote in just a couple days and I decided to hire him. John and his co-worker (sorry I forgot his name) came out within a few days to do the work. The removal of the old system was not that easy as Tweeter (yes, I said Tweeter) had run the wires for the speakers in the ceiling of the basement. But they figured it out and had everything all removed and packed up for me to give away to a friend of mine. The installation of the new TV and Sonos Playbar went very well. John walked me through how to use everything. I am extremely happy that I can also play music through the Playbar and it integrates well via an app on my iPhone and Apple Watch. In the future I can even add on other speakers in the house or outside and use them all together. About one week after the install the Sonos Playbar stopped working. After a call to their tech department, Sonos determined that the unit was defective. I called Carlos and he came over to check it out and talk to Sonos. After confirming what they told me, Carols sent John back out within just a couple days with a new Sonos unit, at his own expense. Since he won't get reimbursed until the defective unit gets returned, he was willing to be out of pocket for the money to make sure I was happy. I am happy to say about one month later the TV and Sonos are working very well and I am completely satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend Carols and his team. read more

Have never written a yelp review before - but this is worth it I moved into a new house - needed a full setup in living room (TV, soundbar, rear mounted speakers, etc) as well as a couple other TVs mounted in bedrooms. I wanted to hire someone local and found AV Alternatives on Yelp. I emailed Carlos and set up an appointment for him to come by my place and get a quote. I thought it was a very fair quote - and a couple weeks later, Carlos and John (lead installer) came by for the install. important for me, Carlos procured all the items i needed and took all the trash with him when he left - made it extremely easy on me. In addition to Carlos, the lead installer John was awesome. I have a 2.5 year old who likes to be involved in everything and John was great at letting him pretend to help with the install. Most importantly, the finished product is above what i was hoping for. It was a relatively extensive install including surround speakers they had to mount flush with the wall, running wires between floors, etc - everything looks incredibly professionally done. John also spent time with us going over how everything works - and Carlos has offered to come back anytime to help go over anything we need help with as we get used to the new systems. i would recommend Carlos & John to anyone. I typically don't write reviews, but I absolutely have to let folks know about Audio-Visual Alternatives. What a fantastic operation! I had a professionally installed, customized sound system that suddenly went on the friz (lost different channels on different speak systems). I read about this company, was especially impressed with Carlos' resume and gave him a call. Within a half hour he had returned my call and was on the way to my house. Minutes later, Carlos had diagnosed the problem and was able to fix it on the spot.. I was absolutely ecstatic! Being without music is like a death sentence to me so getting my sound system back was an godsend. Aside from being extremely knowledgeable and efficient, Carlos was a truly nice guy. We became acquainted with Carlos Carmago during the Christmas holidays 2009. We wanted to have music throughout the house, but didn't want the expense of wiring throughout the house! During an online search, my husband came across AV Alternatives and called Carlos. My wife and i downsized a couple of years ago bringing with us a receiver, speakers and a slightly dated flat screen tv. I first used Carlos when he worked for Tweeter many years ago. They did my home theater installation back in the late early 2000's. After Tweeter closed I was contacted by Carlos and since then I have used him for all of my home AV needs. Carlos is a true professional, honest and a very easy person to work with. Carlos came to our office when we started to have trouble with our satellite radio system. He was extremely knowledgeable and after his initial assessment of our facilities, he communicated what needed to be done to resolve our issues. He responded to our initial requests immediately, and returned a short time later to do the work. Carlos is prompt, professional, and reliable. He has worked on two jobs for our office, one a few years ago, and one recently. Both times, he came with an assistant, who was just as professional as Carlos.
