Spider-Man in 3D?! Yes, please! We decided to catch a showing here in Auburn, and the movie was…read moresooo good! I highly recommend seeing Spider-Man in 3D! What an awesome experience... the 3D really made the action come alive! But as much as I could talk about Spider-Man, this review is really about our experience at the theater itself. This is definitely one of the smaller theaters I have been to, but it was easy enough to get in and check ourselves in. Since we were seeing a 3D movie, the glasses were available right at the check-in table, so we simply grabbed a pair on our way through. After checking ourselves in, we stopped by the concession stand. They had the usual movie theater snacks and drinks available, but we only grabbed one soda this time. This was really our only interaction with an employee before the movie, and then we headed into Theater 6. Theater 6 was pretty small, not necessarily that particular theater, but once we got settled in, it definitely felt more cramped than some of the larger theaters I've been to. There aren't any reclining chairs either... and maybe I'm just a little spoiled, lol, but I've definitely gotten used to those! That's okay though. The theater was clean, which is always something I appreciate, and we were comfortable enough to sit back and enjoy the movie. The 3D experience itself was great, especially for a movie like Spider-Man. There's just something extra fun about watching all that action coming right at you! The drops, the heights, the action... makes you kind of hold your breath when they're coming towards you. Other than our quick interaction at the concession stand, we really didn't have much interaction with the staff. On our way out at the end of the night, one employee did tell us to have a good night, which was a nice way to end our visit. It's a smaller, more basic theater that gets the job done. I wouldn't come expecting the big, spacious luxury theater experience, but if you're in the Auburn area and looking to catch a movie, it's a perfectly good option. While other movie theaters were packed, this one had plenty of open seating for a last minute movie date... If there was a movie you wanted to experience in 3D, Spiderman is that movie! Go! Just do it! If you've already seen it, it's ok! Just go again but DO IT IN 3D!!!! (I know quite a few people who have seen Spiderman 3 or more times, lol, and they say 3D was the best way to watch it)

Danil was great with the subtle upsell. Full but that extra .50 he tried to offer on the popcorn made sense. Overall, we had a really good movie experience here. The lines for popcorn weren't long at all, which is always a plus. This was also my first time at a theater where you serve yourself your own drinks and ICEEs. I've never experienced that before, but I actually liked being able to make my own drink exactly how I wanted it. The theater itself was comfortable. Our recliners worked perfectly, the temperature inside was just right, and everything made it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie. Spider-Man ended up being a good movie, and this turned into another great date experience for me and my girl. If we're ever back in the Roseville area and want to catch a movie, this is definitely the theater we'll be coming back to!

We purchased our tickets 2 weeks early online (very convenient), and were happy to enjoy front row dead center without anyone around us. We were in the movie. :) Staff were friendly but aloof in how they carried themselves in the lobby area. Seemed like a lot on mingling about. Bathrooms were clean but the one by theatre #1 had multiple sink faucets barely attached to the counter. A little janky for a nice theatre. Since we were front row, you access the hard wood or vinyl flooring and well, all I can say is yuck. Sticky, like make noise as you walk sticky in #1 last night. Service at the bar was timely, and the servers in the theatre were professional and quick. Margarita pizza was pleasant, drinks were great. Extra butter popcorn did not come out hot, more luke warm. We ordered the coconut shrimp at the bar, and the shrimp were definitely cooked, albeit a little tougher than I like. We wanted to order the mozzarella sticks but we were joking about what we thought the texture of those overcooked would be. The experience, a great movie, and pricing could have made it a 5. Had to take a point for the shrimp, bathroom maintenance needed and the sticky floor. We did wish we could have picked up our popcorn fresh, but we understood the style of the facility is not normal theater experience. Lastly, we really did appreciate the theatre on screen telling people to be respectful, remove crying kids, and think of everyone's experience around you.

Gone is the balcony seating and additional screens from decades before. It is now a singular 350-seat non-profit theatre run by friendly volunteers. As I write this, the theatre is temporarily closed for some needed repairs and restoration work. I seriously cannot wait until it reopens, as I come here pretty regularly with friends to enjoy the adventure documentaries that this theatre prominently features. The State Theatre is always super clean, the seats are comfortable, and there truly isn't a bad view of the screen anywhere you sit. Plus, the volunteers make really good popcorn and serve local beer and wine at reasonable prices - all to benefit this fantastic historic theater. I've seen several inspiring films here, but a recent screening of "Buried: The 1982 Alpine Meadows Avalanche" was particularly moving for me as it was also followed by a Q&A with not only the filmmaker but also a few key people from the documentary. I really look forward to seeing more amazing films at this historic theatre and encourage everyone to check them out when they reopen!

Having never experienced watching a movie in…read more70mm, what better way to experience it than to do so with an epic movie like The Odyssey! I'll start off the with the negatives. - I was shocked at how hard it was to get decent seats - the movie was released on July 17th. I still had to book tickets at least 1.5 weeks beforehand to watch it on September 23rd. This of course is not a knock on the theater itself, but more of how much people wanted to watch the movie in its intended format. - The place itself felt slightly outdated. It would have been nice if they had an improved food offering selection. They did offer alcohol beverages which was nice. - The seats rocked, but weren't reclining seats. Now to the positives. - I read that only 25ish theaters can officially support the film in the US! And one is in Sacramento? WOW! - Although there was that initial adjustment period for me to watch a movie in this format, I quickly became emersed in the film and the amazing sound. I did read in previous posts that some experienced less than satisfactory sound and/or less than clear displaying of the film, but that definitely was not the case when we watched the Odyssey. I absolutely had an enjoyable first time experience here. I did observe why certain seats were less desirable than others. Because the screen is so huge, sitting too close up front (or too far on the side for that matter) may be a less than satisfactory experience. I am sold. I'll be back during the next epic/blockbuster movie. Thanks!

The first two rows were empty, and I can see why because even where we were, in row E, was a little uncomfortable to look at the big screen, but we managed. Next time I'll go further back. The screen is definitely way bigger than other IMAX theaters I've been too and the sound was also very immersive. I'm glad we have this place in our area so we can see these films as they were intended. The service was good and my husband really liked his popcorn. They seemed to have a good selection of concessions. My only gripe would be that the place feels kind of beat and can use a refresh.
