    Runners bracing for the run
    Sou L.

Fun little festival full of mandarin goodies!! I came early to participate in their 2nd annual fun run. The cost We finished the race at least an hour prioof the fun run includes a complimentary ticket to the festival. The bad part was that we finished the race at least an hour prior to the start of the festival. Event staff at the door wouldn't let us drop off our stuff at the car and return. How silly was that?! Apparently, some staff allowed this dependent in which parking you parked at. Several runners were upset and got into an argument with the staff at the front. No bueno!! We hung out for a bit until all the vendors finished setting up. Lots of cute little crafts and plenty of mandarins to buy. The mandarins were very sweet this year. I was excited about the bbq turkey leg since it's my fav at the state fair. Unfortunately, for $12 a leg, it wasn't worth it. The turkey leg was cold and dry. I love the mandarins though and the vendors were very nice.

We love this festival. The perfect size and so many thing to see and taste. Not to mention the best Mandarin's. We tried just about ever mandarin to taste, we ended up picking two bags this year. Just to hard to decide who was the best. We found parking to be very easy this year. We love the local flavor of all the vendors, so many of the vendors are close by and you can find them in town, after the festival is over This year we found a new vendor to us, #Burlybeverages Burly makes natural soda syrup, shrubs and old-timely switches. I tried three of the many flavors and loved the Mandarin-Elderflower. We are looking forward to mixing this up for our holiday dinner, so everyone in the family can try it. I love they are also a local business right here in Sacramento.

Now called Mandarin Mountain Marketplace but will not allow me submit to it

This is review number Maestro or Maestra a few notes on the piano if you please, Fifteen, of Mandarin Mountain Marketplace. It used to be known as Mandarin Festival. Now is Mandarin Mountain Marketplace. We went yesterday November 20, 2021. We had won two Complimentary Admission tickets from previous event. Of course the theme is Mandarins. One vendor, spin the wheel, if you answer question correctly, you get a prize. My question was What Is The Benefit Of Eating A Mandarin? My answer is It Is Very Good Source Has Lots Vitamin C. When One Gives Blood, The Vitamin C Food Eaten With Food That Has Lots Iron, The Vitamin C Food Helps Absorb The Iron. I won. I picked or chose package of bandaids. Cooking demonstrations. One, the trivia. Mandarins were for long time in China eaten by only Royalty. Then was decided that any person will be allowed to eat Mandarins. The first Mandarins brought to USA in nineteenth century. Four states known for growing Mandarins. The four are Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and California. Yes this is a fun event. Even a petting zoo.

Plenty of fair food, beer, and live music. Oh yeah, lots of mandarins!

Mandarin everything! Well...not everything goes with mandarin oranges, but I had a perfectly crafted, refreshing gin and mandarin cocktail ($10)! I forgot what they called it but it was made with gin, Malibu rum, lemon juice, and mandarins. I think that was the only mandarin product I tried all day. I did see mandarin beer, mandarin bloody mary's, mandarin glazed mini donuts, mandarin kettle corn, chocolate covered mandarins, mandarin BBQ sauce, and mandarin marmalade. I didn't see the mandarin breads and pastries that were showcased on "Good Day Sacramento" the day before. All gone! We sampled fresh mandarin segments from various orchard vendors, whom by Sunday afternoon were either sold out or close to selling out! (Pro tip: buy your mandarins early!) This annual Mountain Mandarin Festival is held on the old Auburn fairgrounds. It's small, but it totally had that feel of a cozy, homey, county fair. So, if you're not into all the crowds or the chaos of the State Fair, then this is a nice little festival to attend and still get a "fair" experience. (Haha...pun intended!) They had all the usual fair foods available and Drewski's food truck. They had live entertainment and the cutest little mandarin mascot walking around. There was a free shuttle train and a kids area with pony rides, a petting zoo, a giant inflatable slide, and rock climbing wall. There are a few buildings with crafts, food, and vendors selling different home and personal wares. It's not much, but still offered a good selection. Even though this festival/fair is on a smaller scale, prices are equivalent to being at Cal Expo. Admission is $8 for adults, 12 and under free, and $6 for parking. The going rate for a 5 lb. bag of mandarins was $8-9. I ended up getting a 3 lb. bag of organic mandarins for $5. If you prefer small town fairs and festivals, enjoy breathing fresh air, and love all things mandarin, check it out next year!

Went to mandarin festival event for the first time today with friends. And we found everything is super overpriced! So I'm not coming back next year here. It's one time experience for me. To get in is $8 per person plus to park is $5 Mandarins for 10 Pounds is $14-15. Which we can find in our produce store way cheaper then that. The food stands are pretty good and pricey of course. I had Greek gyro for $9!!! I have to say it was pretty good though

    Yum!

I'm not particularly happy about admission fees to food fairs/festivals and parking fee on top of that. However the main complaint I've read about in other reviews that I too see this year is the large amount of non-mandarin related vendors, BUT I guess it's best to accept any and all vendors to bring down their cost to have the event? I don't know but I wished MORE food vendors would get onboard with the food theme, in this case, mandarins. I saw mandarin flavored BBQ sauces, honey, straight juices and smoothies and bags of mandarins. $14 for 10 pounds. But for a mandarin festival you'd expect more mandarin inspired food variety. Nonetheless this was my first visit and I enjoyed myself. I liked the variety of vendors that were there but again as others said, wished there were more Mandarin inspired vendors.

The show was scheduled to start at 2, but by 2:30 we had only seen one event and were severely overheated. I took my child to stand in line for water, only to learn they were out, but not from the person selling it because I never got to talk to them. We stood in line for 25 minutes and didn't even get to order- there were still 10 people in front of me! Not sure what the wait staff was doing- they only had like 5 drinks to serve and pizza, but somehow they made each order take a really long time. Just ended up leaving, but the walkways were so crowded with families trying to watch the show in just a tiny bit of shade, that we could barely get out. It was a super crowded event at $33/person, they beed to invest in better infrastructure and management. It was an all around awful experience.

After attending the Auburn Brewfest in 2013, I had 1 chief complaint: no free drinking water…read more Readily accessible drinking water is important at beer festivals (see my previous review). Thankfully, for 2014, there was plenty of free drinking water available. &, for that, I am grateful. The rest of the brewfest was pretty much the same as last year, which is to say, really good overall. I think there were a few less breweries & a few less beers this year. But, most notably, Knee Deep was there & they were pouring Simtra. That was almost worth the price of admission alone. For 2014, the Auburn Brewfest kept most of what was good for 2013 & completely eliminated the 1 big problem they had last year. Good job, way to go & I'll be looking forward to doing it all again in 2015

2014 was the second year I attended the Auburn Brewfest…read more Unlike last year, the weather, considering the area, was mild and the problem with guests not being allowed to bring outside water was fixed by having big water-filled coolers in several places. Also, the crowds this year were a bit larger and we found from the organizers that this was the first year they actually sold out. Despite the increase in attendance the lines for beer were not bad at all and I don't think we waited for longer than a minute or two for anything once in line. The vendors this year seemed fewer that last year though, and the biggest disappointment was two of the biggest NorCal breweries bringing bottles instead of kegs. The food vendors were exactly the same as last year, there was one BBQ place and Round Table pizza so this is clearly the area where the organizers can do better next year. There was live music that most of the folk did not care about and they also had rolled cigar vendor which made Auburn brewfest somewhat unique as most of the other brewfests I've been to do not allow smoking anywhere, except for designated areas. Here everyone was puffing away...on tobacco mind you. So as for the best of the brewfest I have to give props to two local breweries: Knee Deep and Auburn Alehouse. While Knee Deep only brought two beers, one of these was Simtra which is widely considered one of the best triple IPAs in the world. And they brought few kegs, not one. Auburn Alehouse, on the other hand, had the best selection and the most taps running. As the main sponsor, this was expected from them but they brought it home once again. For the worst I have to give it to Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada. Two of the largest craft breweries in California can do much better than bring bottles. Come'on, you guys. Auburn Brewfest 2014 was fun and great value for the price. For next year I would like to see more vendors and some better food options. If that happens this little brewfest has the potential to become something much more bigger....

This year I was on top of it and got a few tickets ahead of time and gave some to friends. They're free to reserve but will get booked within minutes! Each week of tickets is released at a specific time every week so there are multiple chances. We arrived right at our 6pm reservation time. The website explains to enter via bike lane right past the gas station. Google maps led us to the exact spot and you can see the long line of cars in the bike lane and the Christmas lights in the distance so it was easy to spot. The line appears long but it was moving pretty steadily and we got to the beginning of the lights in less than 10 min. Once you get past the entrance they will direct you into an aisle of the parking lot and then those lines take turns entering the drive thru, so after all that I think it was about 15-20 mins until we actually started which wasn't too bad. There are people coming around with concessions and lights/toys before you begin too. The actual lights themselves were really nice! Each section had a theme, such as candy land, Star Wars, etc. and you can tune in to a radio station so the sounds match what you're looking at. I'd say it took no more than 15 minutes to get through the whole thing but it was definitely worth it instead of driving around to one-off houses around town.
