    this was cool.

instagram worthy photos, but prob last time going. it was great seeing the pumpkin lights but i have to admit i was disappoint learning all of them were fake pumpkins. im a sucker for lights so i did get great photos but i doubt i will drive an hour there and then an hour back home for it. they needed more lights around the kids play area. there was one main food vender. the other food truck was a dessert one so you literally have twi choices for food: corn dog or teriyaki chicken/rice. the food was decent but what if that wasnt someone preference. auburn is a small city. so the sign directing you to the event and parking needs to be bigger.

Don't let the sleek website fool you - Pumpkin Nights has much less appeal once you step through the (admittedly cool) gate. Instead of a "festival with food and activities," you are immediately met by booths of local shops trying to sell you something. There are five or six local food trucks in the area with (thankfully) alcohol for adults and beverages for kids. I didn't try any of them other than to get beer, so I can't speak to that experience. The Pumpkin Nights experience consists largely of walking along a path illuminated by hand-carved (synthetic) pumpkins that conform to a variety of themes. Within two minutes of walking around, a middle-aged woman faceplanted from tripping over a raised garden liner, taking a small child out with her and sending him running and crying. The most exciting part of the night. There are never quite enough pumpkins for you to ever feel like you're not at the Auburn Fairgrounds; much of the walkway is very open and very empty. While walking from themed area to themed area, you can catch glimpses of adjacent buildings just outside the grounds and the open expanse back to the entrance. It's just too little magic to justify the price tag. Given all the space between these areas, it's funny that two of the loudest - the pumpkin galaxy (a dance area for kids that was pretty empty), and the movie screening area - are right next to each other, vying for your attention. Between the two is a children's hay bales maze, a literal maze of knee-high hay bales, and a "car wash" sponsored by Quick Quack Car Wash. It's about ten feet long, decked out with a black light, and bubbles that glow in the dark when they land on you. It's okay. Dracula's Graveyard (why does Dracula have a graveyard?) Is nearby, and it's filled with punny tombstones with names like "Digg Here" and "Waldo." It's on a hillside that you can't access. You'll pass it as you enter the Pumpkin Passage, a small building filled with eye-stinging amounts of smoke a gag-inducing amount of pumpkin spice scents. Somehow, the entire event ends up being too short when you want it to end the entire time because it's just SO BAD. This isn't a knock against any of the employees who worked there. I'm sure they had nothing to do with how much the event cost. But Pumpkin Nights doesn't come close to being the event their website portrays itself to be. Where exactly was the "much, MUCH more" the website purports the event will have? It certainly wasn't in free candy or a single cup of hot apple cider. There's no added benefit to coming to Pumpkin Nights. You could end up staying home renting movies on Amazon and eating Halloween candy all day and probably have a better time. In fact, that's my suggestion to you. Happy Halloween!

Great first event! I found out that this year was a trial run so it was on a smalller scale. That was my only disappointment. I thought it would be bigger. But it was pretty amazing and there is nothing I'vewe seen ive ever experienced like it. The potential for next year is going to be off the charts. Bigger better with music n dancing and for the adults a more party atmosphere. It's beautiful and amazing craftsmanship. Don't miss out next year!

My wife has been wanting to go to pumpkin nights for awhile, so we finally went. We were both extremely disappointed. $47 for two adults is a bit much to walk through four halls that took a total of 20 minutes even walking slow and starring at a few fake pumpkins for awhile. There were a few real pumpkins which a guy had carved but that was it. This place is nothing to write home about. I don't know how they expect big families to enjoy it while paying that much. It would have been worth it if they had real pumpkins and not broken fake ones bought off the internet or michaels.

    So many cool pumpkins

So disappointed this year. We had a fun time last year and decided to return, only to find half the events from last year are gone. My kids loved the stage with dancing and fog machines, the strider bike course and the bubble/strobe light area- all of which were gone! In its place were two tiny bounce houses and a see saw. There seemed to be less pumpkins also as the hill area was not utilized. Had this been a free event I wouldn't complain but 20$ a person!? Not worth it.

We really enjoyed our visit here, I do feel they could add more pumpkins along the areas in between the different themes. We went to the later session and everyone was having a good time. Took about an hour to get through.

We had a lot of fun at pumpkin nights and our little one also enjoyed it very much. Pretty lights, pretty set ups and pretty pumpkins, even the pumpkins are not real pumpkins but I still loved them.

This place was so much fun. LOTS of great photo ops! There set ups were super creative, lots of great pumpkin carving ideas. Great interactive pieces too with a seesaw, hula hoops, corn hole, sand box treasure hunt and more. Had real hawks and owls to see and fire throwing dancers. Cool place to spend an October night.

Pirate/sea themed area (one of 5 different themes).

I think this event is geared more towards a younger crowd. If you're an adult going with another on a date, I don't think it's worth it. The food trucks are overpriced as it usually is at these type of events but there was also not much quality. Our kids enjoyed all the bright neon pumpkins (fake or not). There were different themed areas to stroll to(uphill climb though). Very festive, and cool, but will probably be more appreciated but those 10 and under.

The show was scheduled to start at 2, but by 2:30 we had only seen one event and were severely overheated. I took my child to stand in line for water, only to learn they were out, but not from the person selling it because I never got to talk to them. We stood in line for 25 minutes and didn't even get to order- there were still 10 people in front of me! Not sure what the wait staff was doing- they only had like 5 drinks to serve and pizza, but somehow they made each order take a really long time. Just ended up leaving, but the walkways were so crowded with families trying to watch the show in just a tiny bit of shade, that we could barely get out. It was a super crowded event at $33/person, they beed to invest in better infrastructure and management. It was an all around awful experience.

Thankfully, for 2014, there was plenty of free drinking water available. &, for that, I am grateful. The rest of the brewfest was pretty much the same as last year, which is to say, really good overall. I think there were a few less breweries & a few less beers this year. But, most notably, Knee Deep was there & they were pouring Simtra. That was almost worth the price of admission alone. For 2014, the Auburn Brewfest kept most of what was good for 2013 & completely eliminated the 1 big problem they had last year. Good job, way to go & I'll be looking forward to doing it all again in 2015

2014 was the second year I attended the Auburn Brewfest…read more Unlike last year, the weather, considering the area, was mild and the problem with guests not being allowed to bring outside water was fixed by having big water-filled coolers in several places. Also, the crowds this year were a bit larger and we found from the organizers that this was the first year they actually sold out. Despite the increase in attendance the lines for beer were not bad at all and I don't think we waited for longer than a minute or two for anything once in line. The vendors this year seemed fewer that last year though, and the biggest disappointment was two of the biggest NorCal breweries bringing bottles instead of kegs. The food vendors were exactly the same as last year, there was one BBQ place and Round Table pizza so this is clearly the area where the organizers can do better next year. There was live music that most of the folk did not care about and they also had rolled cigar vendor which made Auburn brewfest somewhat unique as most of the other brewfests I've been to do not allow smoking anywhere, except for designated areas. Here everyone was puffing away...on tobacco mind you. So as for the best of the brewfest I have to give props to two local breweries: Knee Deep and Auburn Alehouse. While Knee Deep only brought two beers, one of these was Simtra which is widely considered one of the best triple IPAs in the world. And they brought few kegs, not one. Auburn Alehouse, on the other hand, had the best selection and the most taps running. As the main sponsor, this was expected from them but they brought it home once again. For the worst I have to give it to Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada. Two of the largest craft breweries in California can do much better than bring bottles. Come'on, you guys. Auburn Brewfest 2014 was fun and great value for the price. For next year I would like to see more vendors and some better food options. If that happens this little brewfest has the potential to become something much more bigger....

Each week of tickets is released at a specific time every week so there are multiple chances. We arrived right at our 6pm reservation time. The website explains to enter via bike lane right past the gas station. Google maps led us to the exact spot and you can see the long line of cars in the bike lane and the Christmas lights in the distance so it was easy to spot. The line appears long but it was moving pretty steadily and we got to the beginning of the lights in less than 10 min. Once you get past the entrance they will direct you into an aisle of the parking lot and then those lines take turns entering the drive thru, so after all that I think it was about 15-20 mins until we actually started which wasn't too bad. There are people coming around with concessions and lights/toys before you begin too. The actual lights themselves were really nice! Each section had a theme, such as candy land, Star Wars, etc. and you can tune in to a radio station so the sounds match what you're looking at. I'd say it took no more than 15 minutes to get through the whole thing but it was definitely worth it instead of driving around to one-off houses around town.
